I had some deep-fried oreos once (basically oreos in the middle of dough). They were tasty, basically oreo-flavored donut holes.

Don't miss the butter sculptures.
Also, some of the off-beat stuff is really fascinating. I remember one where the local junior 4H or something had put together a series of displays on the various crops grown in the area, science fair style, explaining the planting time, harvest time, typical yield ratios, along with crop samples (usually little jars of wheat seeds, but also like a seedhead mounted on the posterboard) and pictures at various stages of growth.
And, of course, people selling synthetic chamois and serrated knives in person. Complete with the headset microphone and cheesy product demonstrations. You'll be saying wow every time.

It's not a very good picture but it's something. It's more the fact I went to a Greasy Spoon/cafe and got a random piece of watermelon with it. It was an alright meal.

Anon, the fuck is that? Looks like an autist tried to make sushi by combining White cheddar mac 'n cheese and nuttella.

pasta wannabe-sushi rolls?
I'll give whoever made 'em points for creativity - but unless that brown stuff has some intense flavors going, then that looks really bland

I made those once with spaghetti. Once they cool off you can season them the same way you would sushi rice and roll them in nori. Using pipe rigate or any kind of tubular pasta just makes it look like a slice of alien bowels, which isn't too bad but not everyone's cup of tea.
I can't remember what I put inside though, probably some hard cheese like comté.

Honestly, with the sole exception of pastry dough (love me a good elephant ear), I've never found that frying sweets really adds anything to them. You just sort of get a generic fried crust around a sweet thing.
These on the other hand…

I can never find a Sushi roll that satisfies my desire for exorbitant amounts of raw salmon. I like the "creamy" taste of sushi salmon, and want a roll with it both in the roll and on it, and NOT the minced spicy salmon, that defeats the point.

Just go for sashimi. It's the only way to scratch that itch.
