I'm being completely serious here. I really want him to get in Smash, but I'm afraid it may be offensive to God to pray for such a frivolous thing.

I've prayed about silly things before and feel that it's better to not pray for such things when there could be problems or other people you could be praying for.

Some observations:

>God isn't limited in how many prayers he can listen to

>Prayers in the Bible are made with pleasing the one praying in mind

Example: David praying for his baby to live, Jesus himself praying to have the cup pass from him.

Here's a complication; doesn't your prayer entail asking God to intervene in the free will of Nintendo employees?

>free will

interesting concept. would you consider it more unrighteous to pray to marry a specific girl in your class than to pray for a wife generally?

I don't think it's a matter of scale, I think one is possible given the character of God and one is impossible. I won't say that you're definitively sinning by asking God for something he actually won't give you given his character, just that it's not expedient.

If you fancy a girl I see no problem with praying to God about your relationship with her. He will not change her mind to love you like cupid, but you could ask for guidance in how you behave with her, or for her well being. Every Christian parent prays for the future spouse of their child way before anyone is on the radar.

I agree that God isn't a magic genie, but he does answer prayers.

>John 14 And I will do whatever you ask in My name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14If you ask Mec anything in My name, I will do it.

>John 15:16 "You did not choose Me but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit, and that your fruit would remain, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name He may give to you.

> John 16:23 "In that day you will not question Me about anything Truly, truly, I say to you, if you ask the Father for anything in My name, He will give it to you.

>John 15:7 "If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.

>Matthew 21:22 "And all things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive."

>1 John 5:14 This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.

>1 John 5:15 And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him.

Are you defining "answer prayers" to mean "give you what you ask for regardless of the request"?

No, there is God's will to take into account as well, and clearly some requests/prayers are not helpful.

Incorrect, you can ask God what you want. Whether he gives it or not is not you to decide

>>7501

No, it's not. even Jesus ask silly things like delivered from the cross.

>>7638

Well, it's not like asking them to sin or anything. According to how Jesus gather his disciples, maybe God will show them some signs/ideas to put it in motion.
