Is it good/bad/neither?

As a kid I've been told once that it's bad to wear a cross if you're not a priest or whatever - I dont remember why.

Why would you want to wear an execution method with a dead guy with hair long like a woman hanging on it?

Do you think that God would be pleased with what you have around your neck?

Also, If Jesus came a little over 100 years ago, would be carrying an electric chair around your neck?

Jesus did not command you to carry a cross around your neck. He commanded you to him deny yourself, and take up your cross, and follow him.

orthodox christians do it. very close friends even exchange their crosses. they do it because to them it is a victorious sign. Jesus was victorious not despite his crucifixion but because of it - because he overcame death.

>Why would you want to wear an execution method

To have a constant remembrance of :

-the effects of sin.

-of God's love for us, that is, willingness to suffer for us.

-of the need to imitate Him and bear our crosses for the love of God and others.

God took the lowliest of symbols and elevated it into the symbol and meaning of true love.

Deuteronomy 7:25-26

25 The graven images of their gods shall ye burn with fire: thou shalt not desire the silver or gold that is on them, nor take it unto thee, lest thou be snared therin: for it is an abomination to the Lord thy God.

26 Neither shalt thou bring an abomination into thine house, lest thou be a cursed thing like it: but thou shalt utterly detest it, and thou shalt utterly abhor it; for it is a cursed thing.

graven image: a carved idol or representation of a god used as an object of worship.

The Word of God is very clear my brethren. Do not wear these abominations, utterly detest them, they have nothing to do with God and his son Jesus Christ, Jesus is risen from the dead, he's not nailed to a cross anymore, so therefore if you have a cross and you think you're honoring and worshipping God then you're surely mistaken and worshipping other gods.

This applies to crucifixes but an empty cross is a symbol of the resurrection

How is a crucifix not a symbol of Gods love for us? I don’t think the crucifix is God Himself and I don’t worship the symbol itself.

Two paragraphs after that commandment God orders cherub embroidery to be made for the tabernacle and cherubs for the Ark. Later on orders a brass snake on a stick. Then there were huge cherubs in Solomons temple. Also lions and oxen in his palace.

Yet a golden calf is idolatry. This is because its not the object in itself that's the problem but it being worshipped as a deity.

The brass snake being the best example because later on people started worshipping it as a deity so the king had it destroyed. First it wasnt an idol, then it became one.

So we can have images and statues.

It's upto your free choice.

You can wear a cross as a symbol to others.

You don't if it affects your conscience

It's bad, but more along the lines of foolish to wear a cross. Satan wears religious things and then accuses when real christians would try to do it.

lot of christians wear a cross around their neck. It's like wearing a rifle pin to remember John F Kennedy. Maybe Jesus hasn't come back because he sees crosses everywhere, and says to dad, clearly they have learned nothing.
