Evil and those who follow it can only be defeated by us following the Word of God as revealed through His Gospel. No one who is truly an enemy of Satan will disagree with this. God is mighty indeed. He will deliver all those who believe in him from evil, no matter the odds. King David said to Goliath, “I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, … This day the Lord will deliver you into my hands…” 1 Samuel 17:45 – 46 NIV. And so it was, David defeated the giant, wearing only shepard’s clothes and carrying nothing but a sling and stones. All those gathered there knew in that moment that “It is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves.” 1 Samuel 17: 47 NIV. Rather, it is by the Word made flesh that God saves. John 3: 18 – 21 NIV. The only way to defeat evil then is by living faith in the Word as revealed in His Gospel.
The President does not live by the Gospel. He acts and speaks in pride, hatred, lust, and falsehood. He lifts the Holy Bible but does not read from it. He curses the Law that says to love the foreigner living among us. Letivicus 19:34, Leviticus 19:18, Deuteronomy 6:5, Deuteronomy 10:18, Deuteronomy 27:19. In doing so, he casts aside the second greatest law there is, to love our neighbors (whoever they may be) even as we love ourselves. Mark 12:30 – 31.
Without love, he can do nothing. 1 Corinthians 13: 1 – 3. Without adhering to the greatest commands of God, the president is powerless to help defeat Satan and his followers. To the extent that he claims that he can defeat the forces of darkness, he is a Deceiver, because he himself does not live by the Light. It is only through God, in His Spirit, and by His Word that evil can be defeated. We must follow the Gospel to defeat what it is that faces us, not put our trust in one who does not trust the Almighty.
It is better to vote for Joe Biden, because it will be easier to defeat an enemy whose nature is known, by work in adherence to the Gospel of the Lord, than it will be to overcome one who has deceived many of God’s people into thinking he is one of them when he is not. The truth will come out by the glory of the work of God’s people, not by blind trust in a man who is himself but an idol and an idolator.
The challenge is to preach to others work in service to the word of the Living God, and to preach against trust in a false hero.
