Stop this train of thought before it even starts. Im sick and tired of the enemy using this verse to tempt Christians into thinking they've sinned away their salvation for all time. This verse tripped me up for almost a year, and I spent it in torment that I wish no one else to experience.
Let me make this point first.
God is a God of contract law. Look at the verse. There are FIVE clauses.
It is impossible for those, who:
1. Have been enlightened
2. Have tasted of the heavenly gift
3. Were made partakers of the Holy Ghost
4. Have tasted the good word of God
5. And the powers of the world to come
To be brought back to repentance.
DONT try and connect all five points to yourself in order to cripple you in faith. Dont say to yourself "Oh no thats me!" And end up oppressed in spirit.
Everyone has a MEASURE of faith. Everyone. God *can* and *does* pull the plug on the grace for those who rebel. What is grace? Grace is ability. You repent because of grace. You come to God because of grace. You can do nothing that is pleasing to God without God dispensed grace. Without ability. To those who are impossible to be renewed are those who are given over to a reprobate mind. What is a reprobate mind? It is a MIND which CANNOT receive GRACE– ABILITY! The ability to what? Come to God.
And this is the promise to ALL humankind. ALL. Not some, ALL:
John 6:37
All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away.
Who comes to Jesus? All those the Father gives to Jesus. Are you coming to Jesus? The Father is giving you to Jesus. And if you CAN by decision of mind come to Jesus He will likewise NEVER TURN YOU AWAY.
Are you remorseful of your sins? A broken spirit? So much that you fear losing God? So did David. God calls that a contrite heart.
Psalms 51:17
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.
What is despise? It is to turn away from. A broken spirit and a contrite heart is the sacrifices of God. One He will NOT TURN AWAY.
Read Psalms 103 and speak it over yourself. Read it thoroughly and believe.
OP. Jesus LOVES you. Do you have any clue what that means? He died for you. He bought you with a price. You are not so disposable that your sins cast you out.
Hebrews 13:5 says
Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
You know how this reads in the Greek? It actually has FIVE negatives. It reads more like "I will NEVER NEVER NO NEVER leave you NOR forsake you."
Next, email me RIGHT NOW. I MEAN it. I will NOT let you suffer what I suffered.
