I'm sick of this whore being lauded as some sort of fucking hero, I'm done.
Lets make a scenario here, you are an ADF soldier who's done your basic, starting your career in the Army and all that shit, so to wind down after those harsh weeks you go to your local brothel and start snorting lines of cocaine and sniffing out of hookers ass cracks, eventually you cook your brain so much that you have an aneurysm and die right on the show floor, in the inevitable media fiasco what would you think would happen, would your very legacy be put into question, or would you be found a hero loved by many?
It would be likely the fore, because any rational human would raise an eyebrow at the circumstances of your death and there would likely be an investigation into the 'toxic' culture of the ADF, but not here.
This wretch was found with 11 guys, alone, in an apartment Stag Party after dying of 'Misadventure', not a normal party, a Stag Party, with 11 guys, alone.
There are lots of things that could happen here
Now remember, the case is being treated as Misadventure
"Investigators are treating the death as a potential case of misadventure and will prepare a report for the coroner, who will determine the cause of death."
It may turn out that it's not what i have implied at all, but the use of 'Misadventure' by the police and a Stag Party consisting of 11 Men in their 20s-30s with this one woman paints a picture in most people's heads.
And the upsetting part here is the Media has gone on an emotionally charged campaign bawwing at the death of a slut who literally got fucked to death, no one has even viewed this from a critical standpoint.
There is no reason this slut should be commemorated in anyway, fuck women in the ADF, fuck you brass for forcing this shit on us.

Why else would you join the Army apart from going infantry? The entire service exists, literally, to support combat operations which are infantry led. The vast majority of jobs you can do in either Navy or RAAF and they treat you better.

This is so fucked up. Actual discrimination in the ADF in pursuit of political good boy points. It's killing me to read this when I'd finally made the firm decision to join. No wonder they were telling me so many interesting, combat roles aren't recruiting. Fucking hell.

The best part is that this Army Chief is an Abbott appointee, and labor people hate him because he made that video a few years back basically telling boat people to fuck off.

Holy shit sorry mate I didn't think I'd get a reply.
TL;DR it's a shitkicking job.
>from the DFR website: During peacetime ADGs support Air Force Security (AFSEC) and Air Base Protection (ABP) by conducing routine security tasks, including vehicle and foot patrols, static guarding and control of entry points.
Translation: walk up and down a flightline for 8hrs, or any other shit jobs that no-one else wants/has the manpower to do.
>from the DFR website: You will frequently be absent from your home base and family for several months of the year.
This could be up to 6 months. No joke, as well as the major exercises there can be 'special taskings' that mean watching super hornets collect dust somewhere just because some AFSEC shitters went on annual leave.
Point out he'll be the lowest paid in the RAAF.
While I was in, there was a 'General Hand' mustering that was paid less and you used to hear blokes joke that 'at least we're not 'general hands'. That role has since been made obsolete.
You won't get any decent civilian qualifications untill SNCO rank (around 8 years). If you enlist as an ADG for the first 4 years the only civie RPL you'll get is a cert. 2 in security. To put that in perspective, it only takes 4-5 day course to get that in civie street.
Competent officers and NCO's get posted out very quickly since they tend to get better PAR's (annual reports) and they can't stand the shitcunts around them meaning you'll be under the dregs for at least your first 4 years.
Senior RAAF leadership are completely oblivious to deficiencies in the ADG and GDO roles because they have such a poor understanding green role stuff, which means they'll never be a purge of shitcunts or any serious attempt to change the culture of mediocrity.
On the whole, I enjoyed my time in, but the job I began was quite different to the one I left. If your friend wants to hump a pack and gat around the scrub and be a mad cunt, tell him rifleman or nothing. Even if it means being put on a fucking 18 months waiting list he'll be better off.

Thanks for the reply, I'll pass it on to my mate. I decided against ADG after doing more reading and finding decent work. I'm still tempted by Boatswain's Mate, but they've got a twelve month waiting list with no guarantee of roles becoming available after that, so I'll stick with what I'm doing for now.

>Boatswain's Mate, but they've got a twelve month waiting list
Wow that's honestly surprising.
A number of ADG's have done OP Resolute, bolstering their boarding parties. I asked some what they thought that it would be like and consensus was 'It somehow looks worse than our job'. I'd avoid.
Logistic and field engineering roles are underrated, as you can amass a tidy sum of vehicle tickets that you can use in civie street. RAAF movements deploy often since no-one goes anywhere without them.
Avoid the mechanical trades and a lot of the aviation trades, this might sound odd but should you ever discharge you'll be fucked since you've only done the same shit on the same vehicles over and over again.
Give a thought to the medical jobs too. Civie quals, decent pay and easy working conditions. Some of the happiest bastards I met seemed to be reservist nursing officers, their reservist days were more like holidays to them since they were dealing with young and healthy people.
You aren't arsewiping 82yr olds in a public ward.
It all depends on what you're after I guess.
I'm not stupid enough to try to talk young blokes out of combat roles, because it's like footy, every young lad wants a go. But just keep in mind it's a race to get to at least SGT before your body starts fucking out. Go into a combat role as though it's the only job you'll ever have and never leave it, because you may not have too much to show for it afterwards.

Thanks for the advice. My idea was to go in, serve for about 6-8 years depending on if I liked it then return with cash saved and get a degree in teaching or even go into teaching if I'm able to get the degree during service. With the twelve month wait, no guarantee of new roles afterwards situation, I'm not sure if I'll be able to get in at all. I'll keep studying for the time being and see what I can do and what I think if BM becomes available.

If a recruiter says they'll give a position to you but you won't get a formal letter of offer straight away, they're being honest. I had to wait six months before mine came in and doubted it would ever come. They're pretty good that way.
> return with cash saved
Remember it becomes very, very easy for a young lad to sink quite a bit of coin sinking piss with the lads and buying that shiny new road bike.
>get the degree during service.
There are education grants you can apply for but these tend to be rare as hens teeth and don't cover much. Can't say I know much else about them though. You want defence to pay for the whole thing then you'll just have to commission.
Overall you've got the right idea. I know one bloke who went into teaching after he discharged. He said his defence time gave him the right mindset to handle it and god knows he needs it teaching high schoolers.
Cheers.

Ideological Subversion & Social Justice in the Australian Military
I have received a response to my freedom of information request (FOI) regarding social justice in the Australian Defence Force (ADF.) Our military has been infiltrated by social justice communists. This just confirms what many of us already knew. The recommendations in "Pathway to Change: Evolving Defence Culture" include language such as, "social justice," "equity," "gender equality," "diversity," and "inclusion."

It's been a few years since I joined so the requirements may have changed, but you'll be made to do sit-ups, push-ups and a beep test until failure. Even if you exceed the minimum pass mark, you'll still need to justify yourself if you get a shitty score.
Running is what gets most people.
Once you're in, you'll need to do a regular fitness test every 6 months. The pass marks are age dependent, but up to age 25 you'll need to run 2.4km in less than 11min 20, do 75 sit-ups (feet held) and 40 push-ups.
It sounds simple, but it's very easy to lose fitness living the Army life. The BFA catches a lot of people off-guard.

Wowe alot of jaded ADGies here. ADG is bassically Infantry without the bullshit AND you have a peace time role to do. Yes the role is now blue/green as has been said. That is when theres no war on you have to go and do base security with the AFSEC squadrons working in shifts. TBH this sounds comfy as fuck. You get all the grunt quals but you dont have to do the grunt bullshit and unlike grunts when you arent out field or on deployment(which is never) you something productive to do. You can still do sniper, recon, ADGies get all the latest gear as soon as it comes out, faster then Army units do, they are mounted with comfy PMVs and G-wagon SRVs, so you get to drive around with your bros with an open top gun buggie pretending to be SASR if thats your thing, their snipers did have motorbikes too but dunno if thats still a thing. And yes ADGs get deployed, all the time, even when there sno actual wars on. Theres always a contigent guarding an airfield somewhere. They go overseas alot too to guam and other places to train with the USAF secfor. Im currently at looking at transferring over into the mustering because Im sick of the Army's bullshit. I want a comfy retirement job. Ide be happy to put on the blues and stoll up an airstrip then go out sometimes and do some grunt shit in the bush. Too much bush is bad for you.
TBH people who hate on ADGies are just faggot grunts who hate their lives and secrrly want to transfer to something else. The RAAF is always a better quality life so why not have the best of both worlds? If you really wana get your teeth cut into the shit then go Infantry but tbh you wont be going to war anytime soon. Youll get to the end foa 4 years with no trips, a fucked back having missed out on on your support coy course of choice. IMO ADGies also get based in better places, namely they dont go to FNQ or Darwin.
Your call bro.
