High Quality Folkish Heathen Propaganda

I feel a bit saddened by the serious lack of any dedicated, consistent, high-quality asatru propaganda efforts drawing fellow potentially like-minded white europeans to our socio-spiritual cause.

The youtube channel of the Odinic Rite for example has mostly just a few handheld camera videos with no narration or any guiding commentary, save for that one video with the british guy in a black shirt talking about Tolkien for two minutes and stuff.

We may be (at least on paper) among the fastest-growing european spiritual movements today, but we still decidedly lack a unified approach to our multimedia endevaours. We could grow and reach critical mass even faster, but for this to suceed we need to have people producing our media who actually know what they're doing.

ITT let us discuss on how to enhance audiovisual asatru agitation and the likes, also let's think of some pro-white greenpilled heathen hashtags as well while we're at it.

This is the kind of stuff i'm talking about, strictly visually speaking.

You need to let the masses know that there's actual brains and a real effort behind the movement you're promoting, since this is what draws them in. You also need to repeat your messages and visual themes with slight variations over and over again, as good old Joseph rightly pointed out.

Indeed, if we all did something like this our movement would grow even more rapidly. Personally I'm not that good at technology, although every Saturday for the past few months I've printed out a stack of pamphlets concerning the tenets of Asatru and along with some friends I hand them out outside Starbucks and Barnes&Noble to folk that are White

I just read the Odinic Rite article in >>6128, with which I completely agree. The author mentions choosing converts carefully, and cautions against a too-historic signalling when 'proselytising'.

A portion of people with our type of archaic, antimodern world view may not necessarily be attracted to the aesthetics commonly used to market northern European paganism.

A modern variation of old symbols can be an effective way to open the eyes of compatible people who would otherwise overlook your signalling.

Symbols change their form and meaning all the time. Like a certain 20th century politician did with a certain archaic symbol, the difference in impact could be tremendous. Also bear in mind the multitude of different symbols related to Odin and aspects of his cult. These weren't all contemporary, but succeeded each other in importance and meaning, just as all the cults of the aces changed meaning and importance.

Everything depends on what kind of people you want to attract. My twitter feed had a curious mention some time ago about islam being a reproductive strategy for omega males, and ISIS' branding reflecting that tendency by adopting marketing cues for the "Axe deodorant audience": boorish, underdeveloped specimens that respond to cheap parodies of masculinity.

To project archaic values onto contemporary (or futurist) minds, that's the goal heathen propaganda should have in mind.

I've been spending most of my time lately drawing art from anglo-saxon history books. With time I could try and make some designs based on ancient ones that would be appealing.

I vote we make this (pics related) into a new symbol; its a spear-dancer and possibly depicts Odin, but without doubt has connections to the Odinnic warrior cult.

From what I'm reading Wikipedia, it seems there are strong possibilities that the figure was made during the Anglo-Saxon period. However there seems to also be alot saying that it is a more modern work from the 15th century. This seems unlikely to me just based on the appearance, it obviously has Pagan symbolism and even more, one of the spears was originally a scythe, a symbol of Odin among farmers. One of the explanations is that it's a tudor satire, which I'm failing to see since they don't go into that at all.

I'll start working on a design based on the spear dancer/long man figure.

This is an example of what I've been trying to do. The imagery is clearly pagan, it has a connection to both exoteric lore (Pliny's De Naturalis), and has an esoteric meaning that is easily divulged upon further inquiry and also works as encouragement propaganda.

This example would work, e.g. for a student reading group on traditionalist and pagan world views.

Funfact: the fish (specifically salmon) is the symbol of wisdom, this animal appears in a lot of histories as the carrier of wisdom, and when the hero or warrior touches it, it passes the wisdom to him.

I really like to post with you guys, not knowing any other celt pagans, its nice to share knowledge and opinions with Asatruars.

Read the fucking thread you retard, heathen bible is just the word we are using it. a better term would 3rd edda. We are not proposing a literal Bible, some sort of Holy Text that must be followed for you to be true Asatru, we merely want to consolidate the known sacred texts of Germanic Paganism into one book so it will be easier to research. Do you even know how many obscure Heathen works from a thousand years ago are only accessible on some weird internet website or in the Danish library?

How are we adopting Christian values, philosophy* and reason by using books to organize our texts better than they are? What, is using books now adopting Christian values? You are typing in a Latin language alphabet that was forced on you by Christians but you are still a Germanic, if you want to be so fucking hardcore Heathen go and write in runes all the time from now on. I'm sure you'll pass your high school exams.

In Frankish mythology the king Merovech was born by rape, his mother was bathing on the coast when a monster with the upper half of a bull and the lower half of a fish attacked her.

Also there's a recurring theme in Germanic myth of a salmon or fish fighting or escaping from an eagle or hawk. For example, Loki takes the form of the salmon to escape from Odin, who can take the shape of hawks and eagles.

The fish symbolism became the trademark of Christianity because around the time of its inception, the predecession of the equinox moved into Pisces. (before that, it stood in Aries). More than likely, Christianity's esoteric teachings at the time were heavily influenced by Babylonian astronomy.

Jung equated Pisces with "opposite forces", and can be interpreted as the symbol of the Middle Eastern doctrine that places God outside of the world.

Pisces' opposite sign is Virgo, which is why the moderating elements of Medieval Christianity in Europe took the Virgin Mary as their symbol.

Christians of 200 AD who signaled the ixthys or similar fish symbol are the direct predecessors of today's Aquarius-awaiting new-agers.

All this has nothing to do with the explicitly pagan image of the snake and eagle locked in mortal combat.

Germanic mythology be cray cray

Of course the version recorded to us is Latinized a fair bit but it still carries the original story in spirit. The symbolism is that both a bull and fish represent fertility and strength, so the Merovingian line was thought to have powers regarding both. It correlates with the common Germanic heathen theme of a tribe or king all being descendants of a god, animal or mythical creature.

Terminology is what it is. Heathen was an insult as was pagan. Pagan is very broad. Asatru is too specifically Scandinavian when most heathens are probably descended from other Germanic peoples. Germanic Paganism is too long.

I prefer the term Heathen, it was the word specifically used to describe the Germanic religion and even in the sagas and myths the Germanics themselves had created a line between Heideland and Christenland. Heathen means a dweller of the heath, the wildlands, I think that's a good description of us. We are rural folk, we long for trees and mountains. It's better than Pagan because that's too broad and corrupted by Wiccans and better than Asatru because it's an older term.

A name is a name for now, but I agree that it would be good to spread use of a better term, one of our choosing. If we don't want something specifically Scandinavian, we should use a proto-Germanic term so that it encompasses people of Scandinavian, Anglo-Saxon and Continental Germanic descent.

For now, vague but telling desciptors like "Old Gods" or "Old Ways" and "European religion" have the most desirable impact. It wets the appetite of those looking for meaning in modernity, taunts the imagination, but doesn't provide too strict a frame of expectation to put off those who don't like LARPING and kitschy rituals and stuff.

For those who are ready to get really into the theory, so to speak, specific cults like "the Odinic Rite" are also a good strategy.

I'm having reservations about the term "pre-Christian", though. Not all of Christianity is incompatible, and using a negative as self-description is bad press.

Also the word having been used as an insult is not a reason to stop using the word at all. Reappropriation of that word is easy and has been done with a lot of words you might have not known. Here are some examples:

>Yankee: Anglo insult thrown at Dutch settlers . Comes from Jan-Kees/Jan kaas (Two typical dutch names/John cheese)

>Big Bang: first used by critics to ridicule the idea

>Geuzen: Dutch independence revolters were called beggars (Gueux)

>Tory: Irish insult for monarchists 'torai'

I agree but the thing is that this stuff is quite self-evident and one has to have quite the imagination to interpret "aryan" as anything BUT germanic/nordic.

It's literally like denying that grass is green or water is wet or that two and two equal four tbh. Yet some people (read: SJW's) still cling on to the notion that "aryan" and "germanic" doesn't mean one and the same thing.

So fucking ridiculous really.

But you are right, to contain this trolling/adhom shitposting on the level of a mentally retarded autistic 8yo germanophobe there should be a separate containment thread reserved just for this topic alone so that the SJW autism doesn't spill over into other quality threads.

You seem to have a hard time differentiating Aryan as a modern term meaning "Blonde hair Blue eyed" from the actual historical tribe of people who belonged to Europe. This is why some said you used the Nazi definition of it. Because that is what it was. No one claimed Aryans were non-white or that Germanics did not have blonde hair or blue eyes (or were even non-white). They were just arguing whether or not Germanics and Aryans were one and the same peoples.

I do not know where you seeing "SJW"-shilling. All I see is people debating whether or not one European group bred with another or if one European group is descended from another. You flew off the handled and start attacking others right from the get-go.

Even on this thread you spilled your vitriol here (which some of the other posters have not even posted on until you did).

TO reiterate NO ONE made the claim that Germanics or Aryans weren't white. They just made the claim that they are not one in the same. I do not see how this is at all related to SJW shit.

I do not know what bug crawled into your ass but what you are doing is not constructive at all and you come of as some angsty troll.

All folkish heathens must agree on a set of predetermined core statements, long-term goals, mantras and ideological thrust.

Our audiovisual message must be clear, concise and instantly recognizable.

It must also serve to attract those europeans of other religious denominations who may be feeling heathen sentiments already but who are not yet made aware of this.

It must be first refined and then repeated until it becomes a surefire way of reaching the masses in a successful fashion.

There must be a plethora of multi-faceted public networking efforts and collectivized meetings serving to streamline the folkish heathen movement and its public appearance. Only this can we ensure our thriumph and spiritual expansion.

What you describe is very universalist.

I would agree there's no need. Each tribe or whatever local thing will practice with relative customs only. Should one group wish to practice X strictly and another group Y loosely, so be it.

The only thing we ought be united and open about is "the old ways". Everyone is going to give a different answer what that is exactly and that's fine.

What a coincidence, I too am a fifth level witch in a proudly lgbt-friendly coven. Isn't it just great to be accepting and fuzzy-wuzzy without any principles or strong stances?

Just as a quick warning, you should be very cautious about expanding too quickly or being to public. Once (((they))) catch a whiff of a far right heathen revival you can bet good money they will do their utmost hardest to shut it down. I mean shit, there's already Jewish (((Heathens))) attempting to subvert various groups in their typical fashion.
