Any other Norwegians, Swedes, Danes, Ålanders, Faeroye or Icelanders here on /asatru/? The true blood descendants of the Norse.

We are their direct descendants. We live on their soil and we all speak languages that are descendant from old Norse. This alone makes it a lot easier for us to study since we can visit their burials, read their original texts, visit their (surviving) holy sites and ultimately get much closer to our ancestors than for example Norwegian-Americans. (Though there is a lot of Scandinavian Viking burial sites and monoliths on the American east coast. Findings suppressed by the Smithsonian, but that is another topic.)

What the ultimate purpose of this thread is. Is for us Scandinavians/Norse to help each other on our personal quests to awaken Odin within us. Because of the Nordic Passport Union, we can freely travel between our countries to visit archeological sites, burials, cave paintings, museums and etc. So information regarding these sites in our own countries would be greatly appreciated since we can visit them with ease.

Because our languages are so similar, we can read each other's languages with ease or with at least, a short learning curve. So the sharing and recommending of literature, journals, and websites in our own languages are also appreciated.

Others are of course welcome in this thread, but this thread is primarily intended for us Scandinavians. I feel this is necessary because there is so much material in our own languages that are available to us that if I feel like it makes sense to make a thread about it.

Here are some websites that are great. (in Norwegian, should not be too big of an issue for Swedes and Danes at least)

www.kulturverk.com/

https://www.odelsarven.com/

Vegard Solheim, the guy that runs Odelsarven is a great guy I've met personally on two occasions. His book "Våre tradisjoner: I hedensk, mytologisk og kulturelt perspektiv" is a book I greatly recommend for people who can understand Scandinavian or "nu-Norse" if you want to be humorous about it.

I am Danish/Norwegian but don't live in Scandinavia and am just beginning to learn my ancestral tongue recently. Are folks such as myself allowed in the thread?

Icelandic here, wouldn't exactly describe myself as ásatrúamaður as to not get associated with the ásatrúa religious group here in Iceland (it went political, something it wasn't supposed to do, and took a left wing positionin at that). Þjóðtrú is what I call the Icelandic traditions.

If you want a book on Icelandic myths and traditions, then Jón Árnason is probably the best source you can find. He collected almost all the Icelandic folklore there was. I'm also hoping to publish a book in the coming years about the Icelandic myths and how to interpret them, something not many people have done after Jón. When it is ready I'll probably make a thread here about it if there is interest.
