For the same reason it's so divisive. In addition to shooting, there's platforming, collecting, item management, upgrades, etc. The layout of each combat encounter is thought out and provides a challenge as opposed to constantly fighting in corridors and hallways, meaning sometimes it can feel linear, but there is rewards for those that want to seek out exploration.

They either started the game on a higher difficulty than default or thought they could shoot everything to win without taking into account enemy placement, ammo, equipment, terrain, etc. Personally I don't understand why everyone seems to be complaining it's not like Doom 1 or Doom 2. I like the fact that it's a bit different and I enjoy a lot of the new mechanics they introduced.

Only rightards & paid shills like Bethesdoom. They have nothing to do with the original Doom games, started as a reboot but reconned as a loose "sequel"(using their obtained rights to shitpile Doom 64 to piece the plot together, despite it being non-canon for years), they may as well be side-scrollers because they're hallway-arena-hallway-arena linear bullshit. The devs went for "based" racist marketing rather than put real effort into making a decent game, banking on MAGAts piling onto shit. The "plot" is garbage and I do not believe any of the devs ever played the original Doom games and almost anyone who says this is fun never played them either- aside from ShillManLives, who would let a dog assfuck him if he was handed cash. He willfully plays a part in the bastardization of a once-great series.
Doom 4 had that Master chief knockoff suit & Eternal also looks crap with that faggy Predator shoulder cannon. The "classic" armor even has that same queermo gun so it's barely trying.
Doom was never about this weird "masculinity" bullshit either, until Bethesduh took over. That was more Duke Nukem's thing. It was about one man vs impossible odds but that doesn't sing to the Trumptard gamergaters who don't even play video games to begin with.
Disney Star Wars is better than this fucking shit. That was at least a proper sequel. Bethesda also ran Fallout over the coals too, because they can not stand franchises they didn't create and it really shows. They also fucked TES players & modders in the ass with Skyrim "Special Edition".
Fuck you if you like Bethesdoom, get COVID or pop your head into a guillotine(fuck this "rope day" shit you betas like because you're afraid of blood) because you're too dumb to ever matter. As for Bethesda they overall suck shit now, maybe Microsoft can salvage them. I pirated Skyrim because fuck giving them a dime, but O wouldn't play Dumb Etardnal or Doom 4 /pol/ for fucking free. Even without all the bad monster redesigns, the lame armor, the dumb plot stuff or the shit politics(funny, if the game leans left you scream "politics have no place" but when they agree with your Notsee shit you applaud. BTW Freedoom exists. Support that over the Doom franchise, unless MS decides to clean out the racist trash. I don't even have a commercial DOOM game on my PC anymore and mods that had Doom graphics shoved in got wiped. I don't support shit politics or bad games.
Fair warning, some of the cutscene text in Freedom feels "woke" in that it doesn't praise Hitler or MAGA. You might get your conservafeelings hurt reading it.

DooM Eternal presses the buttons in the meat brain because if you're not completely retarded, the game is easy on Ultra Violence (the de-facto standard difficulty below the meme difficulties). You can blaze through all of the levels with minimal caution, so long as you take your time with the tougher enemies that you can't one-shot.
If you want to have the fun but don't want to give Bethesda any word of mouth advertising, try out the Slayer's Testaments conversion for Quake. It's a low-poly conversion of DooM 2016/Eternal, with an emphasis on speed. It sure as shit can't run on a Pentium, but it will run on any modern potato in spite of its enhancements.

Played Doom Eternal blind for the first time in Ultra Violence and I beat the marauder first try I don't get why everyone complains that the marauder is too hard. All I literally did was spam shotguns shell and grenades.
