Not gonna lie, I'm a sucker for VNs. I work late, don't have too many people in my life, and have always been more prone to reading in my spare time than anything. They fill a niche gap for me. I bought some VN called Tricolor Love story or some shit like that. Saw the reviews were alright and got suckered by the description and features. Stopped playing after 10 minutes. Didn't realise it was Chinese, literally. I work for a Chinese home therapy company, the locally based branch GM likes to show me "Chinese-style" anime, which is half-assed at best and flat out terrible at worst. The story-telling is very different from Japanese and Western styled anime. Not to mention the prevalent social dynamics that get included just as the aforementioned do in theirs. Hardly a smooth and relaxing experience. Plus the subtitle translation to English was absolutely awful. Almost hysterical in a way, so bad it must be intentional sort of way.
So yeah. Bought a VN and got fucked by the Chinese once again

It's because Bioshock Infinite is a bad game. Even if you just focus on the gameplay alone, it's barely decent, even by modern shooter standards.
The story fell apart the moment Booker and Elizabeth went through one of her tears and just stayed there because it had what they needed. Which breaks the reason for any of the story. Why not just keep opening tears until you find a world where everything is perfect?
Bad story, written by people that were too afraid to stick to their guns. Which isn't to say the original story looked better, but it would have at least been coherent.

Yep Tales of Symphonia. I always wanted to play it, I love JRPGs and it was the one big game on Gamecube i missed out on at the time. I finally played it in 2018, and the writing was so unbelievably bad it was actually fucking insulting.
Another one is probably Octopath Traveller - also due to the atrocious writing, and the fact that the SNES games it was immitating were 100 times better. They didn't even do the bare minimum and write interesting characters or scenarios/dialogue.

The Chinese weeb-style stuff is… interesting. As you say, their manner of storytelling is very different from what their Japanese, Western and Korean counterparts do. And it usually falls flat because the mainland Chinese haven't yet gotten the hang of making their way of storytelling mesh with weeb-style media. Hence why their pacing, characterizations, and expressions usually don't feel right. But the art is usually good, though.
Btw, if you compare weeb-style games or especially webtoons, it's really easy to tell which are Japanese, which are Korean, and which are Chinese. Even if you're only looking at the style of storytelling.
