I know of Wurm and City of Heroes since those threads are still on the catalog. I don't play Wurm but I actually have played City of Heroes with a couple of you anons when it first came out to the public on leandro's server. That was actually an alright experience with no drama or any shit like it. It was pretty chill running team missions late at night. What are some other MMOs you've guys played with each other? I'm pretty sure FFXIV was also one but I've heard of some drama in it, not sure about the whole story of that. Reason I'm making this thread is because I'm just curious about the stories some of you might share about playing with people from here, could be negative or positive. Also I've been considering playing some random old private server MMO for the hell of it and see if other anons would want to talk about it, but I haven't decided on what MMO it would be and if some anons would want to play together. Was thinking of a Phantasy Star Online server but I'd also want the game to be decently populated.

Ragnarok Online on some private server with boosted rates. I made one of every character type, and had a second account with all female characters named after Transformers (nudge nudge, say no more), so people with an IQ north of 70 would know I was a dude. It was fun for a while, and we did pretty much everything, but everyone burned out pretty quickly. I can never play RO again. I can barely stand listening to its music, either.

played rebirth, scriptcraft, valkyrie, nostalrius, kronos2, anathema, lightbringer, and northdale from 2012-2019. Around kronos2 is when I had to stop associating with /vg/ guilds.. Just way too much circlejerks, trannyism, and stacked memecouncils. Still vanilla pservers had great communities overall that were international and redpilled from gamergate and the shared experience of blizzard's betrayal. Really sad classic killed it off though I guess it was time as by northdale pservers were hitting mainstream with twitch and overflowing with chinks.

gotta disagree having recently played on netherwing. the way TBC raids are is extremely pug unfriendly by their small sizes and unforgiving mechanics. There's basically no room for slack after gruul. ZA becomes a disaster raid if you wipe even once. As a result most players get stuck forever in kara where none of the loot is good enough past t5. There ends up being a huge gap in the community because there is zero reasons loot-wise for t6ers to run t5. IMO the whole expansion is a perpetual grindfest with how badges, dailies, and pvp rewards are designed. There is fun to be had in TBC but just throwin out this warning that you probably won't want to play through it more than once.

every server of XI has gone to shit. nasomi is shit, era has no players and no coders, eden has the fucking gestapo where you get banned for a typo or for whatever fucking reason they feel like. every other server is different flavors of favoritism, VIP groups over VIP groups, drama, discord faggotry, or extremely easy rates (as in, they raise experience and speed to 10x+ and put all the gear in the game in NPC shops that you can buy for very little money, which absolutely kills the point of progression over time that the game was enjoyable for), whatever good thing each server has is invalidated by all the bullshit that comes along with it.
i'd make my own if i had the money and the equipment to host it. mithrabutts pls come back we miss you

I remember playing on a couple of WoW private servers but there was always the problems of most of the population rolling on horde and game mods protecting chink gold spammers, which the latter specifically led to a lot of those servers dying off and eventually getting shut down.

I do, but if i have to guess, it'll take from 2-3 to 5-7 years for MabiClassic to git gud unless some sort of borderline miracle breakthrough happens, if you ask for another server, then there's Auranogi, it has way more freedom Custom mobs, custom maps, custom events, etc. that servers working from leaks since it's done by emulating live which would allow the server to be updated while keeping the custom features, but the team composing it is microscopic so, for the time being it'll be stuck on g2+ for years as well.
If you want a good mabi server then you'll need experienced programers willing to deal with Nexon's shit code, that those peeps have the passion and will to keep working and actually improving instead of just being like Nexon who slaps half-baked features upon half-baked features, loads and loads of cash among other things.
Not to shit on anyone working on the mabinogi ps to borderline masochistic degrees but, better play something like Shin Megami Tensei: Imagine's ps Re:Imagine after the wipe happens If it ever fucking does since gameplay-wise is similar to Mabinogi and players can percieve the updates which happen somewhat frecuently instead of waiting with no info for things to happen

I was the guildmaster of the 8/v/ Wildstar guild <CLANG>. That was pretty fun. This was after Wildstar had a resurgence when it went F2P. But alas, the game ended up dying a second time. Didn't help that my ISP was fucking me over either.
I also made the Project Gorgon guild, and that was some pure unadulterated autistic fun. We did everything from calling for the genocide of anyone who played as deer in global chat to pushing the afk mods across the map with tubas. We also constantly bullied the local resident gamer girl on the server, and even ended up finding her in Wildstar by random chance and bullied her there too.
Those were truly the best of times.
