With one hypothetical improvement, turn a game you consider great(8/10) into a classic (9/10).

I'll start with pic related. Remove all stealth sections and substitute them for large open levels that make use of Geomod.

The gen 6 and 7 Pokemon games

Implement challenge mode from BW2 and make it easily enabled at the start of the game.

From serebii:

>Challenge Mode is essentially the "Hard" setting of the game. Within the Challenge Mode, the levels of Trainer's Pokémon will be higher, starting at one level higher and reaching 5 levels higher at the end. In addition to that, the AI of the opponents will be higher.

>In addition to this, the Gym Leaders and Elite Four will have an extra Pokémon within their squads, and their other Pokémon shall have different movesets and hold items.

(Ignoring the QTE's)

Don't make Alfheim challenges mandatory for getting Pure Platinum Ranks, in fact don't have Pure Platinum at all since it only exist to deliberately tell the player they weren't perfect enough if they get a normal Platinum, and it's encourages them to just never progress if they ever take damage a single time. Have health drops actually happen more then once in a blue moon.

If a player actually is perfect simply reward them in a different way such as an extra hefty bonus of Halos, rather then demoting every single player who may have been doing great, but dares to ever make a single mistake, dying is one thing, Taking damage "once" is another.

Punishing the player for taking damage is retarded since then what the hell is the point of even giving them a life bar? May as well have a separate mode detracted to never taking damage, which Bayonetta kind of already has with King Little Zero who can only take damage once before being put at critical health. DMC4 also introduced Hell and Hell mode, which kills you in one hit.

Knowing that if you want the best rank you just can't ever take any damage, and restarting a mission or checkpoint every time you take damage "once", simply isn't fun. It's not fun in DMC3, and it's not fun in Bayonetta. If the player has a fucking life bar, allow them to get hit.

Nier: Automata

Get rid of the level scaling stuff. Every fight becomes trivial if you're slightly overleveled, or almost impossible if slightly underleveled, due to killing stuff in one or two hits, or being killed in one or two hits.

>>16887733

Pure platinum is a dick waving contest though since all the rewards are given out at platinum rank at most. Enemies and environment objects drop more health when you're on low health already. You can also just use the butterflies to soak up damage for you since the ranking only cares about if you took damage in a ranked section, not if you get hit.

>"controls are clunky and awkward"

I think they're pretty nice for being a 2D platformer where you use an analog stick for moving. I found the free aim to be pretty comfy.

>"ignoring/dodging common enemies is all but impossible since they just charge/divebomb you and you always get hit, forcing you to stop and clear out every room using the shit-tier free aim and waiting to melee counter each enemy"

I think that's only true at the beggining of the game. The good thing about the melee counter is that it's only necessary at the early game and it makes the combat less boring. As soon as you get the ice beam, you can freeze and use your melee attack to break them. When you get the Plasma Beam you can easily kill most enemies while moving, and once you get the screw attack it's satisfying to wreck those shits that gave you trouble earlier in the game.

>">instant kill sections/bosses that don't even respawn you at save rooms"

I don't remember that being an issue. Some Metroid "gauntlets" (2 or 3 battles one after the other) were pretty hard, though.

>"reused assets/music out the ass"

I completely agree with you, that's kinda lame. At least looking that it could've been what Retro Studios did (awesome new music and some remixed old ones) or what Other M did (fucking white noise or no music at all), just having old music at least is not an insult. The reused assets are not excusable, though.

>"metroid fights are tedious and deal way too much fucking damage even on lower difficulty"

I agree about the long ass fights, but I found them to be fun. More variations would've been better.

>"bonus cd (which I preordered with the special edition) is just a random collection of mp3s i could get off jewtube"

Completely agree, but it's kinda your fault for fucking preordering games in the first place. I got the special edition for like 20 bucks some months after launch.

>"yet I still can't bring myself to play AM2R again even though I know it's the better game because it just fills me with jealous rage that one man can do all that on his own for free"

Just play the game you nigger. Also, after version 1.1, the game is now a "community project". Version 1.5 just came out, give it a try and then you could get inspired to making your metroid game on a simple engine (the free aim of Samus Returns with a mouse would be kinda neat), or try your luck at making a Super Metroid romhack Just like make game

Pure plat is pure bragging right (or proof that you have enough autism to repeat checkpoints endlessly), it's meaningless in terms of gameplay, in fact just doing a few of the fights well enough to not drop combo will get you far more change gameplay wise (such as having enough halo to basically buy everything useful within a couple chapter)

It's pointless to wanna change the way they work, only autist such as you and me will ever feel like they absolutely need them.

Besides it works as intended, pure plat as it is is knowing and using every single bit of knowledge about the inner workings of the game to break it in half.

I understand why Pure Platinum exists, Hideki Kamiya used to 1 Credit Clear games in the arcade and he loved the feeling of objectively being perfect, and he wants to encourage that in the people who play his games, but the fact of the matter is that once I actually did Pure Plat normal mode all that did was make me Never want to play Bayonetta again, because I was sick of it.

a prefect run should be something a player does on their own simply because of their love for the game, and the satisfaction of actually pulling one off is a reward in and of itself, but it shouldn't be something a player is literally judged for not being able to do. DMC1 got this right already for having the special bonus, which was usually rewarded to a player who did perfectly, and it was an extra large gift of Red Orbs. A game simply acknowledging when you did actually do perfectly as a bonus, is a better system then being given a "Platinum medal" instead of the "PURE PLATINUM" medal, since all that does is make your Platinum medal feel like it's not good enough.

All Pure Plat did was make me enjoy the game less, A game should never make a player who actually knows how to fucking play, feel like their "not good enough" for simply not being unreasonably perfect.

I agree that it is autistic to care so much, but I know for a fact I'v enjoyed other games more when a ranking system wasn't done this way, because I felt less pressure to play exactly how the game wanted me to, and felt like I had more freedom to play how I actually wanted to.

I just don't care about ranks too much in these games. The fun would end immediately if I start chasing ranks and getting irritated at any mistake and have to restart. That's one thing I loved about Astral Chain, you can do each case separately and still S+ the file overall. If DMC, Bayonetta and the rest followed that then I might actually give a fuck.

Its there for people who care. For those that want to sink another few dozen hours into the game. I think a good compromise would be an optional pure platinum difficulty mode separate from the rest, where you have to platinum every verse and level or you have to restart the level.

Oh but a Ninja Gaiden game is on PC, just not the one people want.

I enjoyed Yaiba, but I had reasonable expectations that I was going to play a rather mediocre game, made by an outsourced dev team.

Regardless of that tho, to answer the question of why a NG game proper isn't on PC, it's just a matter of unfortunate timing, by the time Ninja Gaiden 3 happened, Japanese games on PC still was not the norm at all, it took until the 2nd release of the DMC HD collection for DMC1 to get on PC, and DMC3 to have a PC port that wasn't broken, and didn't needed mods to by playable with a modern controller.

Ninja Gaiden 4 is likely in the works, or is going to be in the works very soon after Nioh 2's release. So I think it can be a safe assumption that a Ninja Gaiden collection could happen to cash in on some easy hype for the return of NG.

but if you really do want Ninja Gaiden on PC it's hopefully a good idea to let Koei Tecmo know directly right now, given the fact NG4 Is going to happen soon. and we as fans can let them know exactly what Should be in a definite NG collection. Now obviously what I detailed in my 3rd pic here, isn't exactly what I should be expecting out of new PC ports, simply new ports of Sigma i'd say is what should be expected, but letting them know specifically about the demand for the xbox versions of NG certainty won't hurt the odds of those versions making a comeback.

This whole being recognized simply though my posting habits things is something I have to get used to. But I guess I only have myself to blame for borderline blog-posting enough that I'm memorable.

I was hoping for this to be the year I could make an effort to finally get out of my house and start doing something with my life… and then this virus shit happened and now it is government recommended that I don't leave the fucking house. So it seems the universe has deemed me being lazy and not actually doing anything since high school is a blessing in disguise since I can easily wait a while longer for this shit to eventually blow over, the main thing stopping me from moving forward i'm sure is the fact that I have everything I need to survive with minimal effort on my part beyond helping now and again with chores related to the family business.

But enough of the actual blogposting.

I dunno about that. Nintendo doesn't own the idea of low-poly animal people living in a town. As long as you don't have too-obvious stand-ins for the more popular villagers and don't copy the visual style too closely I don't see how they'd even have a case. It's not like the game would necessarily want to slew too closely to AC itself, anyhow, since most non-Chinese indie devs want to create something at least a little unique even if they're copycatting.

> The fun would end immediately if I start chasing ranks and getting irritated at any mistake and have to restart.

This is absolutely true. The problem is that I can't NOT do it either because OCD. So the result is that the games simply aren't fun for me from the get go and I almost never finish anything in the genre, even on normal or whatever the starting difficulty is.

Doing away with ranks entirely during normal gameplay would be good for me. I do specify during NORMAL gameplay. Maybe include ranks as something that can only be achieved during a special game mode outside of normal story progression. That way you can just enjoy the game as is the first time (or the first time through each difficulty) and reserve the autism for coming back at a later date. Technically you can do that anyway, but OCD is a hell of a drug.

Breath of the Wild

The game is a tech demo, a proof of concept, without actual content inside it.

So I'd take a bunch of shrines, string them together via corridors and shit, make them into one "shrine dungeon" (keep the Divine Beasts because they were fun and different, if not numerous or lengthy), and add a unique item at the end of it and a heart/stamina piece.

So you'd start with a puzzle shrine, finish that, open the door to a battle shrine, win the battle, go into a treasure shrine, get some new piece of gear (flaming sword for example) do a new (fire based) puzzle with leaves and ropes and shit, fight an ice-type enemy, get a fireproof helm at the end of it and a heart piece.

Done.

Predictable reply. Yes there are ways to safely take out cultists, but that doesn't make them FUN. Also, crouching only reduces the chance you'll instantly lose a huge chunk of health, it doesn't eliminate it.

>What's the problem with the main campaing? i've only played the second game.

It's just very mediocre. The characters are all uninteresting. You see the twist at the end of Chapter 1 coming a mile away because the betraying character is blatantly an asshole throughout. Lady Aribeth comes off as some uninteresting faggot's personal waifu character that he got to level 20 in his tabletop campaign and has undue attachment to. The encounters are all boring except for a couple in the prison where a mage is present. Admittedly the game does get more interesting once you get into the second chapter, but the first one is weak. Coincidentally, HotU really falls apart towards the end and is buggy as all fuck. I'd consider using the cheat that unlocks all chapters if you want to play it and not starting with number 1 – you'll have to import a sufficiently leveled character. Or you could just play SoU because it's more interesting in general.

You'd need to do a bit more than that.

>Act 4 needs more human enemies and less of those endlessly respawning robots

>Act 5 needs to have more action and less cutscenes, also the microwave corridor needs to be a lot shorter

>enemies in general need to be more of a threat, there's basically no reason to even bother with stealth once you unlock the M4 (or worse, the game-breaking death machine known as the M14)

And that's just to fix the more glaring gameplay flaws, the plot is pretty much unsalvageable.

>MS Saga

Make an unlimited number of large energy things obtainable, even if it's not easy to get more, because limiting you to (the number of suits-the ones you get for free+1) is retarded and ensures the player will miss out on collecting everything without a guide. Make the plot-gifted mobile suits not outclass the ones you have to build. Put some treasure chests on the world map so its not just a huge, empty, maze. Add some ∀ and X stuff because holy shit how do you have a post apocalyptic Gundam game with an original timeline and not include stuff from either of the post-apocalyptic Gundam anime? Also get rid of Tristan's heterochromia: it's stupid, distracting and serves no point but to make him special looking.

It could be class specific too, maybe the wizards can fly on mini tornados that can launch them in the air or bow users could use rope arrows to zip-line down or climb up places.
