Post vidya weapons. Doesn't have to be the best, it could be your favorite. Bonus if you post a weapon with a biological aspect to it for obvious reasons.

The Holorifle. A grenade launcher modified by a genius-madman to draw power from microfusion cells to power a jury rigged hologram projector. You aren't wrong that the center of mass is at the head, that's kinda the point. It's a hammer with a different shape. The flanges are there to pierce or dent mail, but for the most part it's a weapon designed simply to stun or kill someone through their armor because that kinetic force has to go somewhere. Imagine wearing your classic templar helm and someone smacks it with a sword - you might get your bell rung a bit but it won't slice through it, because it's not supposed to. Now imagine that someone's smacking you at the same strength level but they're using a 10 pound sledgehammer. At best you're gonna need a minute to get your bearings, and at worse you've got a concussion, your ears are ringing, or your skull got cracked.

>aren't blunt weapons bad against certain kinds of armor

they are bad for any metal typed armor in the sense that they will rip and tear through chains, plates, and planks pretty easily.

Softer armors that cushion blows more will provide more resistance to a mace, but will not stop the force of being bashed by a block of metal. The flanged mace is the best iteration of the battle axe besides the pole arm boon due to the fact that it has very few weaknesses, such as being a bit slower than your regular blades and polearms, and it's short reach, so you need to find a way around the spear or war pick.

That's why anon posted a flanged mace.

It'll fuck up armor, and take advantage of having your bell rung. The force is still being delivered on a small point.

It is why warhammers look nothing like their fantasy designs.

It is also why there are codexes about fighting holding the blade, to use the hilt as a blunt weapon. Guns, lances, and plenty of other weapons of war kind of made it a moot point anyway.

Blunt weapons are no better than than an axe against most armor, but that is kind of the point of armor: everything sucks against it.

What is good about maces is that people forget that when you stick your weapon in someone, your weapon is stuck in someone. Fairbairn-sykes knife fighting manuals advise practitioners to DULL the knife's point to lessen the chance of the blade getting stuck in bone on a poorly aimed thrust.

A blunt weapon doesn't have to worry about that kind of thing, requires significantly less maintenance and usually gets the job done just about as well as any other hand weapon. If you want to defeat armor, you use a pick, but that thing is definitely going to get stuck in shit so you better not fucking miss.

absolute plebian spotted, if you jam your pick into something you're not getting that shit back, you use that with people that don't have metal all over them if you want to dome somebody or puncture a vital. The war pick has a hammer on the other end because you want to break bones and wear down armor before you think about stabbing and losing your weapon to a body.

I have no clue about that format. I thought it was used for copyright reasons, because anyone who doesn't know about it doesn't manage to repost those files anyway.

Regarding MS Paint, I prefer it in this context because it doesn't need to load when I start it.

An example for the use of webp (and where I first saw it) is the site Hitomi.la, which is like Exhentai, except none of it is jpg, and Windows default picture viewer doesn't open them. I stopped using that site because of that, also I suspected those files, because they have to be opened in my web browser, to be spying on me at first.

I mean, as far as I know, the biggest issues with macos, is that there isn't much you can do with it from a technical perspective. You smash da thingy with the heavy bit. But if your opponent is like, moving and not a static object, then a mace becomes more of a liability, since your opponent can use your momentum against you much easier with a mace to result in far more glancing blows as opposed to full-brunt strikes. It's why things like warmaces still had some sort of pick or point.

Plus, even if you have a perfectly balanced mace, your arm will start to tire and give out after only a few blows, and unlike the longsword or pike, you can't really change stances to give the muscles that are tired a chance to recover.

Also, hitting someone in full plate with a mace will do terrible things to your own wrist over time.

As far as I understand halberds are essentially glorified poking sticks, which just happen to look cool. They are practical, but they don't make nearly as good a show as sword or axes. They are still more exiting than spears, which probably is one of the most practical weapons ever. Big long stick with pointy end. Also, the viability depends heavily on the situation, so one kind isn't necessarily better than the other.

Personally I don't mind ditching "realism" in favor of flashy and fancy stuff like huge sword swings and elegant rapier thrusts. Real life is usually pretty boring and unexciting.

It's also important to note that weapons like polearms evolved in the context of old-timey war: a bunch of folks fighting together nearby, probably armed with a variety of similar weapons. It's the exact opposite of pretty much all pop culture uses of those kinds of weapons, (outside of war games) where you get one hero or at most a handful of red shirts using them. Relatively realistic swords are just versatile enough that anyone in any situation can be throwing one around and there's probably some vaguely plausible justification for it.

No. Truly attractive women are always grounded in reality - they always conform to the universal standard of beauty seen through the centuries of human civilization. The only weapons that have the right of existence are the weapons that are practically applicable - thus realistic.

Hardly, I’ve seen that perspective before and it’s always one of denial. Youre not speaking of your own experiences, but from the angle of an idea that you want to be real, rather then what is. Most people live lives of quiet desparaton, and the rest either die under someone else’s boot, by natural causes early, or lives of innocence in their childhoods, where everything seems exciting from the sheer experience of the new, also known as novelty. Life isn’t exciting. Build a skill, make something. Maybe we’ll enter an age of exploration or an age of creativity accessible to the unskilled but with everyone educated. The only exciting worlds are ones that we create.

Because there isn't anything you need to do with it from a technical perspective. As you said, you hit things with the heavy part until they're dead. It is a club. It's not supposed to be complicated.

>glancing blows

I'll give you that. If you hit a curved surface it can bounce off. However, the same is true of any non-serrated blade.

Again, steel melee weapons are heavy, even the lightest ones. I can tell you for free that no matter how strong you think you are, when you're wearing even splint mail, maneuvering in battle and carrying a shield your sword arm is going to get tired no matter what you're swinging, and overbalancing yourself/leaving yourself open to having judo shit done to you with your own momentum is a possibility no matter what weapon you have. I can also tell you that if archers are not a factor, shields are for pussies and true bad motherfuckers carry an axe in their offhand

Some, i'm sure, but nothing pertinent to the conversation. I mostly saved the pictures themselves rather than caps of posts.

That is true, but I do think polearms were viable in duels as well. Especially since it gave opportunity to swing the polearm.

I really didn't mean to say that life itself is unexciting, that's a whole other discussion that I won't attempt. I was trying to say that things are often predictable, and that the most simple approach or solution is often the best. Back to the case of poking sticks versus blades. Swords are more versatile, as there are numerous ways of attacking or defending with one. Spears on the other hand can only stab, but it happens to work so well, so spears are usually the more "efficient" choice. Life is amazing, but I don't thing "realistic" spear fights is the best example.

It is almost very important to know that I barely know what I am talking about, and that most of this post is pure speculation.

I'm sure it's true that they could be useful in one-on-one combat. All I mean is that most weapons, really, evolved in a context totally different from how they end up being used in games. It's a pretty subtle thing and, honestly, probably doesn't make a lot of difference at the end of the day. It would actually be interesting to see a video game that had environments with literal monsters that actually tried to justify how its weapons evolved to their forms in the game. Monster Hunter and whatever probably actually do some of that.
