Why aren't there more video games like NieR: Automata? I've searched, and it just seems like there is nothing that can even come close, aside from Drakengard 3. Are video games so shitty a medium that there will never be anything to match or top N:A? Is the game industry so bereft of creativity, drive, and ingenuity that all we can get is repetitive trite that offers nothing we haven't already seen (inb4 applying this to Automata)? Why is Yoko Taro seemingly the only person in the video game industry that even tries anymore?

I love Yoko Taro 's games quite a bit but i wouldn't suck his dick that hard, but yes games where developers get to be creative, games that are polished and show that the makers really cared are hard to come by nowadays, i just hope SE announces something new by the guy soon, shame platinum seems to have their hands full at the moment.

Huh, now that I think about it AC felt a lot like NieR Automata in the way the game is structured. Though I wouldn't really put the writing on the same level, it was still interesting enough to at least make me care, even if it was predictable.
The side quests were nice as well and they helped to flesh the world out.
Plus I liked that it still makes you feel like a cop, mundane shit like cleaning the streets and helping a little girl find her mother are something that I would probably hate in other games, but it was a nicely paced between styling on chimeras.
I don't know, I guess there just aren't many games where you play as a good cop doing his duty to it's best.
I hope their Ultraman inspired game is nice.
