OP here again. Let's discuss the metagame for a bit. As you probably know, the Machete has one of the best single-meter Rage moves for fighting Haters because it counters nearly any attack they throw at you and also inflicts a guaranteed knockdown that leaves the enemy completely vulnerable to further damage. However, since the introduction of the Helmet decals, it's not quite viable to headshot a downed enemy to death like it used to be. So I've been experimenting to maximize the damage I can inflict on a downed opponent.
The Drill is excellent with the right decals, especially if you have the buffed TDM Drill variation. I've looked around the internet, and metagame info on this weapon seems strangely scarce. I guess most players abandoned the Drill back when it was underpowered (stuck in 3rd-Tier Hell), and never looked back. Well, I'm happy to confirm the Drill has done a lot of catchup in the power climb, and now it's a beast of a weapon. I'm confident enough to say it's currently one of the best melee weapons in the game.
If you're lucky enough to get a "Drill Addict", "Drill Mole", and/or "Judge's Gavel" decal, you're pretty much set to kick ass with the Drill. But even without those decals, you can experiment with whatever decals you have on hand and find good results. The Drill is quite flexible.
Move set:
Shoulder Trigger = Hold to spin the drill and deal continuous damage to enemy. Great against guarding opponents. Overheats after a while, but you can bypass the overheat with a quick weapon switch.
Shoulder Button = Quick jab. Great for counters.
X Button = Down attack. Super useful. Deals major damage to a downed opponent, unless they have the "Play Dead" decal. But even if they do, it's better to hit them than not to.
The Drill's Rage move is interesting, and I need to experiment a lot more with it before I can properly judge its viability, but it basically shoots out a land-bound drill bit that slides across the floor and rebounds off walls, similarly to the puck from the Hockey Stick's Rage move. Sadly, your own drill bit can damage you if it hits you, but on the bright side, it's larger and slower than the puck so it's easier to avoid. The drill bit projectile seems to wear down as it deals damage, and eventually disappears. Sometimes it sticks on contact and deals continuous damage to whoever it hits.
Fortunately, the Drill's Rage move only takes one meter, so if you like to live (and die) dangerously, give it a spin.

>they keep moving the goalposts and releasing new shitty toys nobody uses because the KAMAS-SP is undeniably the ultimate weapon of the game that lets you rush through everything.
Like I said, the rifle is not as OP as it used to be. The headshot bonus can be minimized and even nullified, and piercing resistance in general is on the rise. It's still a good weapon though.

The Death Metals' revive mechanic is ethically questionable, but at least it can't be used if you die in a Jackal fight or a TDM Raid.
That said, the first 40 floors are definitely the best part of the game. (Aside from those rage-inducing locked gates in the 30s, of course.)
