This game is so boring. It's like Kirby's Dreamland 3 on steroids. What's so fun about moving from waypoint to waypoint when the movement and combat are as slow as they are? This is peak style over substance. When does it become good?

It's praised because it has both a beautiful artstyle and ending.

I don't even consider the artstyle to be that good. Just a lot of bloom, dof and motion blur on mostly static environments. The entire game is just blurry mess. Especially emberrasing compared to games made in the UbiArt framework where you can tell actual artists worked on the game. Now bare in mind that I compared it to a shitty phone game of all things. Does anyone honestly think Ori's art is good? You can't see the damn art with the lighting obscuring the assets. The more I think about the game's 'art' truly the uglier it becomes.

It's an art game like Unravel. You're suppose to enjoy the spectacle like a walking simulator but it has more gameplay than said walking simulator. You're not really suppose to think too deep into it.

The hell are you talking about? The entire game is animated pretty damn well. Turn off the motion blur for your system maybe? Especially since there is actually none. Sounds like you're a blind motherfucker who never played the game.
Anyway it's alright. The platforming, when you get there, is basic. There's nothing much else aside from the aesthetic and music. Story hits beats but it becomes uninteresting after actually getting past the beginning (which only the beginning and end is good.) It feels like a walking simulator but made into a 2d metroid-esque platformer. (so shit.) The escape segments are probably the best part of the game though.
Music is probably the best part of the game honestly, but most of the soundtrack is ambiance. It's good that they got a competent composer to make a themed suite, but still, a lot of the music except two or three pieces have any impact. Makes the main theme memorable, but past that and you're gonna have a hard time remembering specific melodies past the main three. 5/10 game. Mediocre really suits Ori and the Blind Forest best. It's only above average for niggers who don't play games.
I'm cautious for Will of the Wisps, but they brought in some more people and a competent game designer, so we'll know the 20th. as long as it isn't fucking wangblows 10 only.

>Music is probably
>Escape segments are probably
I gotta complete my thought, shit.
Escape segments are great and intense. First one is the best one, the other two are shit. Kuro's escape segment at the end is pretty nice but it's just a casual chopping block. Got through my first try. Don't expect any difficulty in this game.
Music would be probably a better piece than what the escape segments contribute. It's almost like the escape segments are a reward for slogging through the game, while you get a nice melody on the title screen and theres good motifs throughout the game.

The main theme is generic repetitive cookie-cutter movie filler music. I rather listen to real artists. No wonder you remember it when it's like 3 notes on repeat. But personally I always put on real music while playing video games rather than listening to 30 second loops so I can't really judge its music. What good however is the qualification of a composer when it's all inoffensive filler? The spooky forest area has spooky forest music, how lazy can you get? Competence isn't something praise worthy when we're talking about adults getting paid for the work they do. It's to be expected. Oh well, at least its boring music fits a slow-ass boring game for boring people I guess. There's definite motion blur though. Just a fact. Why did you play through an entire game if it's a "5/10" though?

That's the worst thing you can call a product. A shit product or a good product are at least interesting, a decent product is boring.

All these dumb HATERS need to go home! Metroidvanias are kino and while Ori was never spectacular at anything it tried, it did them all to such beautiful satisfaction ite nded up being well worth the cheap price. It was a very fun and cute game and I can't wait for the sequel to come to PC!

I just completed this. Fucking hell. It was a bit enjoyable at the beginning but it just keeps on dragging on and on and on… But still i enjoyed it a little bit. Im recommending this game for the art and for the story. While the story itself wasnt pretty interesting i enjoyed the story as a whole.

What i mean by this is that the story as a whole was good. Its just that it wasnt very interesting when playing because you would keep doing levels and levels and you get no interesting story. But as a whole? Pretty good story.

It's been forever so I can't remember, but do you start with the ability to dash off of projectiles? There's sections of long strips of spiky terrain where you're required to dash off of projectiles and that was pretty fun. If you still don't like it even after that just drop it honestly.

How does Will of the Wisps compare to the first game? More of the same? Or is it much different? I liked Blind Forest, it's not amazing in any particular way, but I found it pretty fun for a few runs through over the years.

if Will of the Wisps uses the Unity engine as Blind Forest did, it should work just fine on W7
also, there are W10 alternatives, such as Aerolite, which remove all the DRM and spyware protocols
you could also try Linux (personally I recommend MX Linux for ease of use). Wine and Proton cover nearly everything

it's a good game nigger, you just have shit taste
it looks and sounds great, the plataforming and collectathons are good enough even if their a bit on the easy side and it's really fun to speedrun through it
combat is shit though, but most parts where you have to fight you can just cheese through with the bomb skill, everything else you can bash and add to the plataforming/speedrun elements
the escape segments are the best part but the second one can suck a dick for all the cheap trial and error deaths
i don't get all the people praising the story though, it does just what it has to do for the game to start but it's not anything memorable and it's kinda shit that Gumo resurrects Naru with some retarded deus ex machina he pulled out of his ass, how the fuck did he know Ori and Naru were related to begin with? and how the fuck did that tree glowing to bright killed the owl babies?
i've played worst plataformers to be honest, the map is big and fun to explore and considering it was made by microsoft i kinda felt like vid related when i played it

>it's a good game ergo you must have shittaste
It's a boring game with its derivative platforming and generic maze design that doesn't even serve a real purpose. There's no need to call names.
>it looks and sounds great
It's a blurry mess, music is tone-deaf. Looks worse than the average phone game. It by no mean looks or sounds bad. Just bland, average, uninspired.
>speedrun
The game is too slow and speedrunning is for the mentally ill. And saying a game is good for speedrunning is automatically admitting that the game itself isn't fun on its own merits and too easy. A game should by default let me go fast just by being experienced and having fast reaction times. A game such as Ori, which has the same block-pushing puzzles put in -and made dull by- OoT which exist(ed) just to pad out playtime and make players feel accomplished doing simple chores is by definition not a speed-game by design. I rather play Mario World romhacks because they have creative level-design, doesn't force me to backtrack and doesn't have difficulty based on how much health you have but appropriate difficulty by design of the level by the author itself.
>the auto-scrolls are the best part
Directly in contrast with your earlier sentiment pertaining the game being fun to speedrun, filthy hypocrite. I'll profess I love me a good autoscroller (see pic #2), especially if they're filled with good enemy placement rather than just simply a bunch of off-screen spikes. They're far from the best though. They're often repetitive, cheap, lazy and too cinematic.
>don't get all the people praising the story though
You didn't cry at the poor owlerino losing its wing?
>i've played worst
>worst
And I've played better, there's an endless amount of content, the skill ceiling I could never even dream to reach, and I could just replay my favorites every few years to boot. There's no reason to act like a relativist when you choose to play a game out of free-will.
>the map is fun to explore
No, it's not. It never has been. It's a chore that anyone can do. There's no real exploration, it's just a map you feel accomplished filling out like you would cleaning your house i.e. a chore and a virtual one at that. How much wall chicken do you need?
>it was made by Microsoft
No, it was made by people, funded and marketed by a giant corporation. You couldn't even get the name right of the Developer. Shame on you.
>vid related
Not gonna watch your eceleb garbage.

What I did was download save files for Luna Nights, play each boss fight (lowest-level) separately, removing the filler, afterwards play the *included* level-4 bossrush save file, currently stuck on that one. But I find it amazing how much these games, that contain about 6 good bossfights, have so much boring filler and still get raving reviews. The battle system is just too satisfying not to like. I'm also a fan of the Ys Trilogy where I would recommend not skipping the filler. I don't know what you meant by similar though. Ori I just find to be a bore, frankly.

Ori and the Will of the Wisps had a shit ending.
>the entire time Ori was the narrator (I guess that made sense? But still.)
>Seir pulls the full on "ASSIMILATE" and Ori becomes the tree. Which sure, that works.
>Game proceeds to age all possible side story and/or future protagonists. Like Ku, which would have been fun to play.
>Just to shit out another spirit nigger
Like good game, better in every way than the first one, but damn kinda shit ending.
>>16880384
Completely disagree.
<It's a boring game with its derivative platforming and generic maze design that doesn't even serve a real purpose. There's no need to call names.
<Generic maze design
<It's a blurry mess, music is tone-deaf. Looks worse than the average phone game. It by no mean looks or sounds bad. Just bland, average, uninspired.
>when every area has a unique theme
>when every area has their own unique gimmicks, enemies and environment
It looks better than Rayman, you're just plain wrong on this point. Don't see how you extrapolate bland/average from something like Ori which doesn't really have anything like it. Music is great too. Just because you blast your ears with garbage shouldn't mean that's the standard for everyone else.
<The game is too slow and speedrunning…
Nigger there are segments where the entire point is that you have to be fast otherwise you don't progress (and not just the escape segments.) There are methods to get shit done, just because the game's programming is solid enough you can't sequence break doesn't mean its bad for speedrunning. Even SM64 had autoscroller-like sequences as well.
<Directly in contrast with your earlier sentiment pertaining the game being fun to speedrun, filthy hypocrite. I'll profess I love me a good autoscroller (see pic #2), especially if they're filled with good enemy placement rather than just simply a bunch of off-screen spikes.
No, no you clearly don't. The autoscrolling parts are the most satisfying to beat. The SMW level in pic 2 is shit compared to the autoscroller parts in Ori and the Blind Forest. The only thing it has up is maybe the former is a bit harder.
>No, it's not. It never has been. It's a chore that anyone can do. There's no real exploration, it's just a map you feel accomplished filling out like you would cleaning your house i.e. a chore and a virtual one at that. How much wall chicken do you need?
<When the game has the literal standard conventions every metroidvania has.
It has sections of the map you return to with later abilities, theres hidden segments, some bits to find. How is it not 'real exploration'? What defines 'real exploration'? If we wanted to compare it to Metroid Prime, Ori does plenty even better than it. Especially in movement. There is even a additional entire hidden zone.
