Any games that have a comfy atmosphere or just something you do in a game that personally gives you a comfy feeling. I've been playing pic-related recently and it's pretty relaxing. In the game you grab onto giant plants that grow real long towards the sky. You could just go around and explore and glide around the map too. Some other comfy things I do in games is drive normal in GTA 5 in first-person with the settings set to night and raining, and playing pool in Yakuza 0 is pretty comfy.

On the NES there was a game called Solar Jetman. You just putter around in low-grav environments, looking for things. Some things you need, because they make you go fuel and others are just random loot. Boxes of bananas. Plutonium. One of those British phone boxes. They're not totally unguarded; there are machines patrolling, as if left there by a long-dead civilization. You never encounter another living thing.

You have to be careful penetrating unexplored areas, because one shot will wreck your pod. As long as you're controlled in your movements and deliberate in how you tackle things, it's fine. Except for in a few parts where some niggerbot will snipe you from off screen.

This, for me, is maximum comfy, and I think about going yesdev just to have a modern one with non-busted physics, new planets, etc.

You oughta do it. I personally don't think the game was comfy, but it was enjoyable and had pleasant and consistently goofy atmosphere. My idea of comfy was more like boating around in the easy levels of Cobra Triangle just doing jumps and shooting shit, or (to jump generations a little) getting on a bike in early San Andreas and just riding listening to the bike noises.

Some stages in Ring Fit can be really comfy, mostly the short ones that just have you jog. The evening autumn ones can be really nice but the snowy ones came to mind immediately.

Couldn't really get great images on short notice.

Megaman Legends is pretty damn comfy. But maybe it's because I used to play it a lot as a kid and it reminds me of good times. The game isn't too challenging and the music can be pretty comfy when walking around the town.

Spyro. Especially the 2nd or 3rd one. That's when they really started nailing their art style. Pure comfort.

I get comfort from Thief oddly. It takes me back to a time when games were made by D&D nerds and things were more innocent and pure.

Also SS13 when everyones just building shit.

Oblivion use to be one of my go-to comfy games, but it's just too painfully boring nowadays for me to relax to it.

Bramble is even worse in the final version, but the other areas are comfy as fuck. The abandoned city on the hourglass twin, the precarious ruins inside brittle hollow, the storms of giant's deep, it's all very atmospheric and comfy. In the new version there's even a small station orbiting very close to the sun and it was amazing when you finally got into it.

I don't think I've played any other game in decades that went along with a blanket, slippers and a cup of hot cocoa with marshmallows better than it did. Sure, some parts of it is utterly terrifying, but there's such a tranquility and ambience in the ones that aren't which really puts you in the comfy zone.

You really should find the time to play the final version, the stuff towards the end is mindblowingly good and none of it was present in the alpha.

It's a while ago since playing this but it had a certain cathartic quality about it also it's not too much action for uncomfy, you just have to put your hot cocoa down for a few minutes and it doesn't matter if you win or lose anyway.

I use to listen to Vesuvius on loop years before I even played the game. Ironically my first playthrough I missed the club somehow. Personally though the game gives me way too much melancholy for it to be comfy. It's like getting a glimpse into what could have been.

Something so incredibly chill about walking around at night in a rainy Santa Monica, and walking into a store with Deb of the Night on. Ambience 10/10.

You know its fucking comfy when you can chill in your haven with the radio and TV on and still enjoy just being there.

Reminds me of how CDDA could be at times. You build your tank-base and drive around looking for whatever it is you're looking for, and you might drive into a town crawling with zombies, get into trouble raiding a gun store, and drive back out barely clinging to life.

So you park in the wilderness, turn off the headlights, turn on the dome lights, close the curtain over the windshield, start the stereo pumping, and spend the evening treating your injuries, reading books, crafting things and raiding the minifridge until it's time to go to sleep. And if anything comes after you in the night, safe in the knowledge that the Browning M4 autocannon mounted to the roof will blast it straight to hell.

You can look up vormithrax on youtube. He explains a few things to do on start. Basically, start in the evac shelter, break down benches, lockers, and the tanks on the roof to construct a crowbar, lockpicks, a hammer, and a screwdriver. You also use the roof tanks to store water. The woods will have shallow pools you can use, along with edible foraging.

You can avoid the cities while getting your basic skills that way, and go in better prepared. Beyond that, the other anon is correct.

Comfy games?

Rune Factory 4 fixed a lot of the problems in previous titles, and is remarkably engaging with a lot of replayability.

Sim City 4. With simple mods like elevated rail lines and the like, it's amazing what can be accomplished. I personally believe that this game should be part of the core competencies of civil engineers; because holy shit, there's so much practical knowledge that can be learned here.

Dragon's Crown. Exquisite experience. Beautiful artwork, and even after you learn the patterns of the enemies, it still remains remarkably difficult in the higher levels.
