Which video game retcon do you have the most irrational hatred for?
For me, it would have to be the introduction of gender differences in Pokemon design specifically as it applies to Pikachu. I think the heart shaped tail doesn't fit the lightning motif of the base of the tail and tries too hard to make Pikachu cute. It seems to me that the reason why Pikachu took off with so many people was because it could be as cool or as cute as needed without looking like it tries too hard towards either end. Boys could look at it and see a creature that could zap things with lighting with a tail that communicates it clearly and girls could look at the cheeks of Pikachu or its proportions and view it to be a cute Pokemon. Female Pikachu tries to appease the latter group but tries a bit too hard towards that end and minimizes the appeal towards the former group. At least there's always Raichu. Too bad Gamefreak hates Raichu.

SH ends with the city being destroyed/purged/finished, it should end there.

Most Zelda games are pretty clear where they were intended in the timeline. Zelda II is a clear sequel, ALttP is a clear prequel, OoT is another obvious prequel, MM is a sequel, WW spelled out blatantly how the split timeline now works, etc. The issue comes with the three timelines clearly only existing so that one isn't far longer than the other, and the what should be separate Four Swords trilogy being shorhorned in at random places. It should have been either first or not included, but Minish Cap was put second because Skyward Sword's whole shtick is being the first one and Four Swords Adventures was placed at the end because that Ganon can't come before OoT Ganon because again, Nintendo wants that to be the first one.

He's a retard, it arguably has been something since the start of the franchise, started coming in more during Gen 3 (notably the differences between Ruby and Sapphire, and the differences between Gen 1 and their remakes), and is first explicitly brought up during a sidequest in Gen 5. The complaint he has about Gen 6 involves a crazy person and the plot setup for the first PMD so that's just bullshit, Gen 7 is way more explicit about it given there are actual wormholes you can actually travel through.

I would have loved for DoW 3 campaign to have a different chapter than the klepto marines. I actually do like the blood ravens, but seeing them in most expansions I think Winter Assault had ultra smurfs? I don't remember too well, but even then, really, fucking ultra smurfs makes them really indigestible.
That being said, Soul Storm was a fucking train wreck on top of the little to no sense Dark Crusade campaign. I wish there were better reasons to have imperial factions killing each other, or making fucking friendly factions that you could turn and having a system on it, like being deemed heretic if you friend xenos. I don't know, both Dark Crusade and Soul Storm are very stupid lore wise, they feel lazy, they are somewhat good as "board domination" kind of deal, but I wouldn't consider ANYTHING after the original DoW canon, and that's very sad.

Dark Crusade did have a reason for the Guard and the Mreens fighting one another though. The Ravens were on a mission to bury some dirty laundry of theirs Magnus daddy says hi that was on Kronus, but they needed every fucker there to get out first. Lukas had his orders to fix that shithole up and wouldn't leave. To withdraw from Kronus on orders of the Blood Ravens would look horribly on him. He abandons his post while some nobody chapter purges the place in order to hide some secret, that in Gabby Ann's own words, would get the chapter excommunicated on the spot if it got out? Alexander would end up before a firing squad before you could say "grimdark." Hell, it gets kind of emotional if you assault either of their strongholds as either faction, with both Thule and Lukas having utmost respect for one another and both basically pleading with each other to stand down before any more loyalist blood is needlessly shed and both men being too dedicated to their objective to quit.
Soulstorm, you could also make a case for loyalist infighting, but only for Stubbs. Stubbs has a reason to stop the blud ravens since they are suspected of heresy due to the Victory Bay massacre on Kronus and that the 257th Conservitors are on a shitlist for letting Kaurava get as bad as it did, so fighting the birdies is basically them protecting themselves from some misguided purge that, for all he knows, could just be the Ravens trying to heretic it up again, and clear his regiment's name in the process. Similar story for the Sisters. The Sisters are a bunch of batshit insane dick-deprived 3DPD who are there to burn Kaurava to ash due to all the aliens and heresy. Stubbs had every reason to protect himself and his men from a bunch of perma-menstruating Salamander-wannabes, doubly so since the Sisters start on the same planet as you in the campaign, therefore need to get removed first. Spess marine campaign was basically a campaign to get their strained honor back, led by an incompetent baldo fuck with a speech impediment. He has no reason to purge the guardsmen other than "THEY WEHR DERE WHEN HERESY STARTED THEAHFOAH THEY ARE ALSO HERESY" and lacked any of the manly sadness that Lukas and Thule had, his campaign being entirely self-serving and egotistical. Sisters however are utterly inexcusable. They are Khornate heretics in denial. They are in the unholy trinity of "Cancer that is Killing the Imperium" alongside the Inquisition and the AdMech. Fuck them; both figuratively and literally.

Anon, I like Stubbs as much as anyone who played Soul Storm, but the guy was fucked. If you defy the sisters you were going to be deemed an heretic anyway. Eternal Floette hasn't been released yet, but I'm sure it's probably still in Home somewhere. There's dex entries for "omega_nx" and "alpha_nx" so who knows what that is.There's a goddamn pitch shifted Jynx cry that could really be anything. Home can even accept data from your PC if you know what you're doing (so for only the guy who's basically in charge of the Switch hacking scene knows what he's doing). Don't entirely agree, but there is a 100% definite retcon in Warframe's lore, and it has to do with Dark Sector. Originally, Warframe was a direct sequel to Dark Sector, and that obviously implied some things about the inested/technocyte virus, the tenno, the reason they're even called the tenno, how warframes were created, etc.. And then, around the time the space lolis were becoming a thing, all of a sudden, Dark Sector was removed from Warframe's lore.

Resident Evil in general has suffered so many fucking rewrites, heaven forbid you're in Latin America or China. You got a completely different set of Officially Licensed Resident Evil shit that doesn't even make sense when you put it into context with the official shit. The first set of Rewrites came with Code Veronica, when they changed Wesker's report. The original report had a lot of information about Nicolai and shit but no, they had to leave it ambiguous to his fate.
Then Resident Evil 0, while it gave us a funny in-joke , 5 games later. It introduced Billy while fucking up Rebecca's timeline. The logistics of Rebecca being powerless by the time she meets Chris is stupid if 0 is to be respected.
Ironically, Resident Evil Remake didn't fuck up the timeline and the new shit they added fit right in without any problems. Resident Evil 2 remake on the other hand, shits all over the timeline, redesigns a lot of the characters , completely fucks up the plot of Outbreak and messes with the timing completely.
The outbreak shit is simple.

Maybe I'm remembering wrong, but wasn't the implication that the Old One would wake up eventually, and you became the new Monumental? I may be wrong, but I think the idea was that the setting itself was quite fatalist, so good endings are more akin of just delaying the inevitable end. It was always a choice of prolonging life and avoid the doom, or join in on the fun and end it all. Which Dark Souls kind of taking the same route but maybe a little more ambiguous.
I agree though, that DS2 and DS3 were a mistake and the cycles shit beyond stupid. From's "souls" games work best as standalone stories, the reason why Demon's, Dark and Bloodborne work pretty well. The story was never meant to go beyond the boundaries of the first game.

At first I believed there'd be a lot more to complain about, but on second thought, there are more egregious examples in other mediums. Hollywood being the worst. We just saw three major franchises completely shit on plot points they centered on before: Skywalker and John Connor killed off, and Marvel writing out the Mutants. What about the Serpents, Gwynevere and Gwyndolin in DS1? The Monumental, the Maiden in Black, the real King Allan and Maiden Astrea in Demon's Souls? It actually is more of a attest of the quality of writing of DS1 and Demon's that they actually tell so much with so little dialogue. Furthermore, I fail to see how DS2 has plot and the others don't. Is just that DS2 fails to communicate its story on the same way and its much more in your face. Both Demon's and Dark had numerous NPCs that were missable but had the keys to explain what happened and what is happening and what is going to happen, the few scant lines of dialogue, as you say, were more significant and what is say and no was more important. The plot in DS2 is pretty much like DS1, it already happened, is little more than lore, you are just there to clean up. You don't fight the giant wars, you just go to a memory of it, all the DLCs are just the ruins of the kingdom, and I fail to see what makes DS2 have plot, and Demon's Souls and DS1 just lore. I can understand you preferring DS2 storytelling, but I cannot agree on your assessment about plot.

The second game starts with the now-underground remnants of X-COM pulling an op on their alien overlords to break "the Commander" out of some genetic lab because it turns out they were using him as some kind of weird "psychic hub" for the Ethereal's "psychic network." It has a bizarre emphasis on the self-insert player character who never says anything or has any concrete identity that you can change and it comes across as extremely forced. I thought the second game might have been interesting story-wise because it canonically ends the first game with humanity losing, but it's worse.

There's nothing on the Mars colony except UAC's research facilities. Mars is the shit post, it's the dead-end job that marines get sent to because someone up the chain of command has it out for them. Doomguy was on Mars as an what is effectively an MP because he disobeyed an order to fire on civilians during a riot on dystopian Earth and punched his NCO. Coincidentally, the reason he's only carrying a pistol is due to this demotion to MP post.
It's not an amazing story but one that makes the character more relatable than most FPS protagonists, including Gordon Freeman, which is fucking sad. Penelope being revealed to be an amoral sociopath who was only ever in it for the money in Sly Cooper Thieves in Time. The tail got hit with the same recolor for some reason. More notably though, thats clearly raichus tail whereas the green one had a mesh.
In actuality, i think its not an error but a redesign to make him mesh with raichu more. A lot of mons were getting redesigns even by the blue stage. But eventually got replaced with anime crap anyway.
RBG raichu clearly showed he was meant to be a midstage by looking like shit. A fun thing basically nobody realized as a hint towards the whole gorochu thing.

I think people are just more likely to color the end black when drawing from memory because it matches the ears which are more prominent. And since the brown coloring was at the base of his tail, and usually covered in some kind of shadow, it's always been one of the least prominent features on Pikachu. While I could imagine the tip of the tail being dark, actually seeing it depicted just looks really wrong to me.

Oh, you're somebody who doesn't understand the concept of a continuity family. I'd call you retarded but it's not obvious, so let me try to explain it. Basically imagine if, instead of everything in Pokemon existing in one canon, there were instead different groups of canons that are technically all valid to themselves. To go into more detail here, I'd say that while the animes, mangas, and arguably side games fit mostly with that general definition (if you want a more detailed explanation of this concept look it up on tfwiki.net or don't because it's run by David Willis and I'd respect you for not wanting to do anything related to him) the main games go even further with this concept, where every individual's save file is it's own universe. This covers up every conceivable plothole that has been raised as early as Gen 2 (for the record, the Red in those games is possibly from Yellow) or even Gen 1 which seems content with both players being essentially the same person yet still able to trade with one another. Now we can argue how fine grained we want to define what each continuity family is, and how transferring Pokemon between generations relates to it, but that's an argument for another time.

I don't remember the black tail, but I also vaguely remember some small Pikachu toys that might have had a tail end fade to brown, but I'm probably mixing up the direction of the shading.
