As a turn-based tactics design, it's competent enough. The signs of /tg/ heritage are certainly there. From a technical/presentation standpoint, it's pretty clear that HBS hasn't bothered hiring better people than it had for Shadowrun Returns. The UI is serviceable, but past that, the animations and graphical effects look clunky-but-not-giant-robot-clunky, like it was made by fresh graduates of a second-rate animation school. The game itself also has had a bunch of glitches reported, including one Steam user who mentioned that it was apparently pushing their GPU into overheat shutdown when they tried to play. The campaign is short and riddled with DLC bait, and the writing is offensively bad, even outside of the expected current year crap.
You're supposed to be a cutthroat mercenary in the time-honored tradition of the constant internecine warfare of the Inner Sphere, taking contracts from anyone and everyone with the SOLE exception of the fact that you're tied to one particular Mary Sue of a client throughout the entire game that simply cannot be wrong or betrayed or otherwise portrayed in anything but the most positive light for the entire goddamned game. MW2M and MW4M both explicitly gave you the option to betray key clients at certain points in the campaign, because that's what mercenaries do when the price gets sweet enough, but this one railroads you into eternal fucking loyalty to this random noble's birthriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. I've fapped to garbage-ass porn stories with better structure and characterization than this shit, and it's convinced me that if a game's story is bad enough, it actually makes the game worse than if it were just a disconnected series of levels with no story whatsoever.

I don't know why you guys are so obsessed with God of War. Of course the game was going to review well it's a perfect reviewer game. No real challenge to it, extremely simple and impossible to get lost in, story is told straightforwardly through cutscenes. Especially this new game where they toned down the violence and eccentricities of the old games' tone. Also GOW was never a great series it is the equivalent of a popcorn movie. You sit down for ~10 hours and play through the game once see some of the neat stuff to see then never play it again.

Thanos and Gamora are in his ship. There's a brief sequence showing how he conquered her planet etc and killed half the population to save the planet from destroying itself. There's this whole idea from Thanos that if you kill half the population of an overpopulated planet, you can save it from extinction etc. Gamora knows where the soul stone is, when she was working for him, she found its location, and destroyed the map. She tried to lie but Thanos took her to Nebula who is in suspended shattered state, being pulled apart. He activates a memory from her that shows that indeed Gamora was lying and knew the location of the soul stone. He proceeds to pull her apart torturing her trying to get Gamora to cave in. Which she eventually does. At some point Nebula escapes after thanos and gamora leave (thanos had a minion repiar her and she overpowered the repair guy).
Thanos and gamora go to the planet and a being shows up telling Thanos the way to get the soul stone. Bottom line he has to sacrifice a soul in order to get the soul stone. Someone he loves. Gamora gloats saying that he doesn't love anything and she notices he's tearing. Apparently he truely loves Gamora and ends up sacrificing her. She tried to kill her self before he could throw her off the ledge with a double dagger he gave her when she was a little girl. For some reason when she falls, they show her body broken and bleeding and all of a sudden he reappears with the soul stone in his hand.

The jump from easy to normal and then hard in PN03 was pretty incredible. At least I think normal is when the wasp enemies introduce their laser rake attack. You're so used to standing still and dodging incoming attacks but then this asshole chases you with a move you can't dodge around so you need way more spatial awareness to be able to run away for a long enough time that you don't get hit.
Hard mode doesn't really shake things up too much but the timing is so precise that it's almost impossible to get by without dodging before an enemy launches their attack and then learning when/how to chain your specials to survive.

I have doubts as to if those sentiments are entirely genuine and not PR speak to excuse large differences, if they are the same developers, or if the reality is that they took inspiration, but couldn't make it work right with the limitations at the time, and then came up with something different that worked around those limitations. Sometimes those limitations helped make the game that people found memorable.

I've posted this before. They are different situations.
/animu/ was people getting fed up with strict moderation on /a/ in regards to spelling, shitposting and industry concerns, especially when it's about SJWs. While there were some divisive /animu/ posters, I openly welcomed them for funposting and /a/ just saw it as a containment board. They didn't hold much ill will towards each other. Or at least that's what I saw on /animu/ meta.
/vg/ on the other hand was made because they wanted more moderation. (While there are certain faults here, I don't think it's that extreme.) They seemed to want to be a replacement for /v/ rather than a sister board like it used to be, ie. Vidya generals. So you still see some hostility.
It's been a while, so I can't recall clearly about the drama. Didn't post much attention to it.
