I began experimenting with a wget based shell script that would download the entirety of gamergate.me, starting with the wiki. It was an on-and-off project that I worked on until everything went to hell and /gamergate/ got destroyed, then GGHQ, the board war, Cancer Crew, blah blah blah blah happened. Gamergate.me died in the middle of that shit and I never touched the project again. Until a couple nights ago when I was browsing through my oldest archives. The wiki was there. I never did get it to preserve the image links like I wanted, but all the html pages, raw images, and infographics are there. The test runs I had done had saved everything, and while I had gotten busy with the board stuff and forgotten about it, its been sitting on my hard drive quietly all this time.

If you are a company and you want to invest a ton of money into Twitter promotion, why would you when they can just terminate you over your politics? Most of Twitter's income revolves around people paying Twitter to promote their brand to build more followers. If your account isn't secure, why would you bother?

The original trilogy is older than I am (31), and the special effects are MIND-BLOWING for the era. But on top of that, they were able to get masterful performances out of total nobodies, and achieve a level of storytelling that people could relate to, despite being total space magic.
The Prequel Trilogy is 100% special effects. Level of acting was subpar for some of the names they got. Writing was at its worst for the first two (ESPECIALLY the second).

This. Star Wars was a very well done opera in the vein of The Hero's Journey. Then they set it in a relatable, "alive" sci-fi setting with special effects on top. How could that not be a winner?
Modern SW lost all the charm of the Hero's Journey and became a generic Hollywood sci-fi Action movie franchise. I mean compare EP1 with ANH.
ANH "action" scenes:

Compare that to TPM when entire arcs of the movie, f5rom the opening on the TF ship to the war on the surface to the podrace to the chase under the ocean to the final battle are just huge, multi-minute sequences of shit blowing up everywhere. The other two prequels were worse, and EP3 is basically a three hour action sequence.
That's all on Lucas, too. I remember he was asked in an interview once why he thought people loved SW so much, and his answer was "they come for the spectacle."

When they started setting up the grey morals of both sides with Benecio finding that the owner of the ship sold weapons to both the first order and the resistance, Kylo Ren wanting to kill both the jedi and the sith, and the purple haired bitch running the rebel ship like a dictator/catholic schoolmaster, that they would defy the safe route of modern movie storytelling and make both sides bad. But no, after being a huge unlikable bitch, leia farewells her like an old friend and then she heroicly sacrifices herself after just having done a selfish act of letting the other ships get blow up rather than letting the MAN have any say in what to do. Kylo Ren, after vowing to kill both the jedi and the sith goes back to working with the first order rather than going off as a lone revenge focused warrior and the final scene is once again rebels vs first order, expecting the audience to side with the rebels after spending the whole movie undermining their virtue. It's like the writers didn't talk to each other and just mixed all their stories up together.
