I did have some interest in it based on the PVs released prior to the broadcast, but
the reality was a work filled with items that plucked at my heartstrings, and ever
since being captivated by it, I've been thinking that at least once I'd like to create a book, so
although belatedly, I'm glad that I was able to give shape to those thoughts in this way.
There was the unfortunate circumstance of it being only 1 cours in length, so the developments went
at a quick pace and they weren't able to sufficiently expound the setting and charm of the show.
If it was feasible, I would have liked to see this work done in 2 cours, but on the
other hand it's also the case that there was room left for the imagination, and in fact there are still
things I'd like to draw, so I have a feeling that if possible I'd like to make a another book.
I don't know whether or not I'll be able to, but if at that time we are able to meet again I will be happy.

This was done during the broadcast period, it's a manga sketch I drew impulsively on the spur of the moment after seeing episode 3. ->
I drew it thinking "I wonder if the story will have this kind of development later on," and during episode 11 I was seized by an indescribably odd emotion.
<- The last piece was also drawn during the broadcast period. I played with developments and lines from the story, but anyhow I surely wanted to make the two of them flirt.
It wasn't this particular manga sketch, but I remember being incredibly excited when the Animation Director responded to one of my drawings of Izetta that I'm using for one of the panels on page 5.
It's something I'm grateful for…

The translator/s should use a better platform for stuff consisting of more than just a few pages so there's no need to sticky a thread to keep translations from falling off the board. It would be more convenient to just do it in notepad or something anyway, they most likely already are, as well as being a bit easier for the editor to work from. No real need to post the pages themselves if it's up somewhere already. Like how Googled Translations uses pastebin to contain his stuff on 4/u/.

Nah, if every new kanji looks the same to him then he’s exactly at the point where anki is useful. You’re supposed to graduate anki after something on the order of 10k mature cards, not after doing 1000 cards in a core deck.

I would hope that's not the case. I started noticing patterns and radicals and pronouncing words I'd never seen when I was at like 2k I think. Mind me, I wasn't good at it, and I'm still really shitty at reading, but getting caught up in anki was definitely a plateau for me after it helped me improve all I could. It was around 1k that I would start seeing words that I memorized on anki in the wild and still have no idea what they mean because I only memorized them in the context of flashcards. I've got a really short attention span and maybe you're better at applying things you learned in theory to reality than I am. I'd say that you should just quit anki once you're sick of it or you're spending more time with anki than actual Japanese. It really varies from person to person but I really think that using anki too much will help you more than hurt you. I think a better goal than ten kajillion words a day is one volume of a manga or two news articles a day or whatever suites your needs.

I believe you, I've translated anime before and it was fun adding meme subs and pissing people off every now and then but the payoff was just not worth it. Some other weirdo took up the show anyway and is way the hell faster than I was somehow. I still feel like it might be neat helping more obscure untranslated series I like that I never see anyone talk about get more exposure here in the west. Is it really just a matter of writing over bubbles in photoshop or do you guys use something else?

Shit I didn't even realize he said that. My reading comprehension in Japanese is bad, but not that much worse than my English, apparently.
What I should have said is that seeing kanji in the wild is more conductive to seeing patterns since there will always be context and there will be repetition when appropriate.

It’s good enough as an intro book and it’s not filled with useless bloat like Genki/Nakama/any other college textbook. No matter what your intro book is you will stop referencing it within four or five months anyway in favour of DOJG. You just need that intro book to give you a foundation to start reading native material.

my hiragana is solid, katakana is hazy, can't into Kanji but I'm trying. I have a JP IME set up so I can type the words that I know and build skill. I've got a mostly complete understanding of sentence structure and particles. At this time I do not really know how to begin learning Kanji, but I've got the Rikaikun plugin installed and have started (very) slowly picking up Kanji vocabulary.
