No, it just was a really expensive ship. Anakin's grandchildren flew Tie Advanced's against the Yuuzhan Vong. From Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron X1 and X2 fly Tie Advanced against one another.

You mean the big guy? He looks like a Besalisk but that wasn't introduced yet and he only has 2 arms, so maybe he's a bulky Draedan or more likely a Noghri. However those last 2 species also weren't introduced yet at the time of Starfall, so maybe it was just a randomly chosen alien design, but then again, many unidentified species from the 80s were eventually classified as species that were introduced later on, so that Starfall alien could be a Besalisk who lost his arms, or a Draedan or Noghri. It could also be a Dashade which have been around since the Holiday Special.

It was mentioned in the Dark Times comics by a clone trooper who said that after the war clones would become "glorified policemen". The clone who said it also had no qualms about carrying out Order 66 and was happy the clones would continue to serve in the newly founded Empire. I think this was before the brain chip shit.

It's just intended as an order to introduce new people to star wars. For that it's pretty good. All it's meant to do is be an alternative to showing them the series in order either chronologically or episode-wise. It shuffles around a few of the surprises and twists, for example letting RotS reveal that Luke and Leia are siblings instead of RotJ, and other than that it's just about making the whole series more about Luke's journey in that it begins and ends with Luke, from ANH to RotJ. Also cuts out episode 1 which really isn't needed. If you know someone who has never seen Star Wars and want to show them both trilogies it's not a bad way to get it done.

That said; if asking if it's a meme is a way of asking if it's over-hyped, then yes, it is absolutely over-hyped. When you examine it you realize that really all you need to show someone to introduce them is the original trilogy and then you can leave the rest as expanded viewing material if they're in to it.

Has there ever been a given weight for typical droids? Protocol droids can't be too heavy given Chewbacca carries (the parts of) C3P0 without much effort (Saga Edition gives Chewie's carrying capacity at around a 100 kilograms for what its worth) but beyond that I'm stumped.

I remember Star Wars Droidworks had a weight mechanic for all it's droid parts and let you constuct a complete protocol droid but I doubt it's meant to be completely realistic. Wookiees are strong enough to climb tall trees as well as pull someone's' arms off, so that gives us a very broad spectrum of weight that C-3PO's body could be.

Looking at C-3PO in TPM, he doesn't look heavy at all - most of his internal parts look quite lightweight, with some parts almost hollow. R2-D2 looks way heavier in comparison, though I haven't seen his internal parts.

File: 9d454c5d57758cf⋯.jpg (336.25 KB,807x603,269:201,Ewoks4.jpg)

Is the second season of Ewoks canon with the old lore? It differs drastically from the first season in terms of animation, characters, voice actors, writing and pretty much everything. Season 1 had higher quality animation and was more mature overall (while still appropriate for all ages) and in season 2 the characters had different designs, personalities and voice actors, making them seem like completely different entities. Season 1 also had no issue handling serious subjects such as tragedy, drama, life, death, spirituality, hunting, survival the whole shebang while season 2 avoided handling said issues with the same level of tension season 1 did outside of the Stranger and final episode. So it was pretty clear that season 2 was somehow even more censored than the already age-appropriate season 1, and like I said before, even the animation looked like it was no being handled by a different studio. The show also completely abandoned continuity in the second season, with each episode being standalone and putting more emphasis on slapstick humor and wacky sounds. The only thing the two seasons had in common was that it shared some writers. In fact the only thing that remained the same were the Duloks, but even they had their voice actors changed. You can even tell how drastically different the two seasons are when you compare the final episode of season 1 (probably the most dramatic and mature in the series) to the fist episode of season 2 (which is pretty much Care Bears and Gummi Bears mixed together). Season 2 doesn't even match up well with the comics which at least kept the characterization and models from season 1, and season 2 also doesn't even match up well with any other media as it had the Empire show up and be defeated by the Ewoks alone and the Ewoks could speak Basic with the imperials without issue. So was anything ever said about the overall status of the second season in the overall continuity? Even Galaxies and the Shadows of Endor comic from a few years ago had tons of references to Season 1 but none for season 2.

So did they ever explain where these things came from? The Bendu Monks are implied to be the origin of the Jedi, but these Tho Yor were around long before the monks, and when they activated, they automatically returned to Tython despite it still being uninhabited. What lived on Tython? Why did they summon spiritual civilizations when they had matured enough to Tython? Did I miss a story or comic where all of this was explained? Was Thape (the original homeworld of the Bendu) linked to all of this?

To sum it up, it all started a long time ago after the great sith war, like 4000 years ago, the Mandalore at the time was manipulated by the Sith Emperor into believing in a prosperous future where the Mandalorians usurped the Republic and established a new galactic order where the Mandalorian ideals spanned all over the galaxy. The Mandalore then rallied Mandalaroians into going to war with the aid of siths. They became the Neo-Crusaders and began warring with the Republic in hopes of creating a galaxy where warriors were the nobles and only the strongest was worthy of leadership. The jedi initially didn't want to get involved, which led to Revan going rogue with his boyz, becoming the Revanchist crusaders and decided to help the Republic. Revan and his boyz then fisted the Mandalorians right in their assholes then bitch slapped Mandalore the Ultimate till he cried. Sending them wimpering back to whence they came from and took their fancy leader mask. Eventually Revan and his buddies tried to find out what caused the Mandos to go to war and found out about the sith emperor. The Emperor was too much for them and he turned them to the dark side. Bla bla bla then Kotor happened.

She could be a Tinnell or Trianii, what with the muzzle, tail, four fingers, cat feet, whiskers and large eyes. She could also be a Fargul, except they have 5 fingers. Although the finger thing may have just been typical cartoon animal aesthetics. She could also be a Moorjhoni which were one of the last species introduced by Dark Horse comics (in a Darth Maul story) before George sold out to Disney. The Moorjhoni looked identical to Jadru in terms of facial looks and are the only feline species with green fur outside of the Togorians, they also had limited tech, like her. Only problem is they have five fingers and no tails. However, Dark Horse comics' SW writing staff had apparently watched the entirety of the Ewoks cartoon before writing one of their last comics "Shadows of Endor", so its possible they got the idea of the Moorjhoni from this bitch and decided to make them her race, but the lack of a tail probably means that's a no. So she's probably a Trianii since they were one of the first feline species in SW, first appearing back in 79.

Its been a divisive subject since it first came out. If the internet had been around back then, there would've been a far noticeable backlash from fans. Sure we still loved it but we had our complaints. For one, many were expecting Kashyyyk before the film's formal release and legit spoiler drops. Also many didn't like Ewoks initially since many saw it as Lucas trying to make SW even more toyetic by adding Care Bears in space (which were still fairly new and massively popular at the time). Also many thought the movie should've been two separate films while others thought the Emperor went out like a bitch (but in a pretty awesome way still). But primarily the main reason is the Ewoks. Some back then we were exaggerating about them being Toyetic, but the fact is that even before the movie was out were getting children's books, coloring books and toys based around the Ewoks. So people thought the Ewoks were going to ruin the maturity of Star Wars. This was further upset by cartoons like Ewoks and Droids which people thought were too infantile, with some wanting cartoons like the Star Trek one. Mature and serious for the most part with some hints of comedy. But Droids proved fun enough when we actually gave it a shot, but it ended up cancelled after The Great Heep tv movie failed to bring in ratings. Eventually the years passed and we learned to like the Ewoks (for the most part) and learned to appreciate what the old cartoons had to offer (specifically Droids, Ewoks went to shit halfway in). Baobab was the Katarn of our day.

I suppose that makes sense, they did seem a little cartoonish for the movie but they do grow on you. I assumed the Ewoks would be the source of some backlash, but since most people say "RotJ wasn't as good" rather than "Those teddy bears with spears were retarded," I assumed people took issue with the film as a whole.

Been watching all 6 movies again lately, this time also with audio commentary because why the hell not, and in AotC George talks a little bit about the scene in which Jango hits his head while entering the Slave-1, as a little throwback to that one stormtrooper in Ep IV. He says something like: "I thought it would be funny if that was a trait Jango has and that was passed down to his clones"

So the obvious question here is: was he just bullshitting or is in Lucas' mind every single stormtrooper throughout the entire OT really supposed to be a clone? And if so, did anyone, like some EU author, ever try to come up with some explaination to handwave away this contradiction or was this whole thing just quietly ignored?

every single stormtrooper is not a clone. it's explained in the eu that most clones died off by the time of the ot due to the advanced aging, and of course going by their voices alone they definitely aren't all jango clones, or george would have re-dubbed their voices.

instead what happened is after the empire kicked up, volunteers joined by the boatload (in addition to any drafts if such things happened), and top recruits were cloned. so you've got an army made up of older clones, new recruits, and clones of those recruits.

Originally there were both recruits and clones within the Empire, with clones being the minority now. The whole "every stormtrooper is now a clone" shit was something more recent and George's way of making it so kids wouldn't feel bad that Luke and friends were killing "real people". Much like how Spielberg wanted to change guns into walkie talkies in ET. Despite that the deleted scenes in the first movie indicate that Stormtroopers are recruits and the imperial academy is where people sign up, like Wedge, and Luke himself wanted to join up, since joining the Academy was the best way to see the galaxy. Overall, its just another example of George retconning more of his earlier ideas to fit with his new state of mind, much like vid-related.

HOWEVER, within the EU there were clones who still remained within the corps long after the Empire stopped using clones, however most of them became part of the elite 501st which attacked Hoth and (if I remember correctly) some were on the Death Star too, so some of those troopers knocking their heads around could be perceived to be Jango clones, but that's probably not what George had in mind. If he spent less time on personal retcons, maybe he would've gotten less beef from OT fags like that shitstain HelloGreedo, and maybe he wouldn't have felt forced to sell to Disney, but then again, expanded universe fans never had much issue with George's changes to the OT since most were able to find ways of sorting out inconsistencies easily after years of it, and most usually regarded George's changes as superfluous, with only OT purists getting triggered over them. Unless he meddled directly, like with some shit here and there in the PT and his meddling with the Solo children.

Yes. The Sephi. A race of tall pointy eared humanoids who can live over 200 (or even 400) years. They have a smug culture of being foppish elegant types who love beauty to the point where even their ships are fancy and rich looking. They're all pale and have white, black or blonde hair like Tolkien elves. Some of them could have pinkish skin making them look like Blood Elves. They could also produce half-elves sephi with humans. Their homeworld is covered in forests and mountains. There were also claims that shorter and stouter races of Sephi existed. So yes.

Also, in case you're interested, the world of Nordra was said to be home to a race of near-humans who were basically dwarves. They lived underground due to the harsh environment on the surface of Nordra, they were short but incredibly hardy, they were so stubborn and independent that they dared speak against the Emperor and their planet was part of one of the most famous trade routes in the galaxy.

>Yuuzhan Vong

Space dark elves/orcs. Have disgusting spaceships made of meat, shits up the neigborhood when they move in. Really into S&M. Makes Drizzt look like a care bear.

>Ithorians

Ithorians are too humble and sociable to be elves.

>Bothans

Bothans feel more like your typical opportunistic feline beastman (even though Bothans are canines) who will abandon you for a better opportunity at the drop of a hat.

>Vong

The Vong are definitely dark elves. But calling them orcs is insulting to orcs. Gamorreans are the true Orcs. Gorc and Pic are even perfectly comparable to an orc and a goblin.

>Yoda

Yoda's is a lot like an elf come to think of it, and his species can live longer than a sephi and the single piece of art depicting their culture shows them in a temple full of plants, so Yoda's species and Sephi are definitely the biggest contenders for elves. With Sephi representing the more common negative stereotype of elf culture and Yoda's species representing the more tree-hugging spiritual stereotype of elf culture but with the looks of a fucking goblin, then again, short elves were a thing.

>Cereans

I don't see it much. Also are harems an elf thing? I thought that was just an orc/human/beastman thing?

>I don't see it much. Also are harems an elf thing? I thought that was just an orc/human/beastman thing?

They're crazy environmentalists, and meditation and spirituality worshipping nature spirits maybe? is a big thing for their society. The harem stuff is more just the "elves are degenerate" thing you sometimes see on /tg/.

There's also the Columi,l but they're so frail they probably wouldn't be much of a threat. That and despite their two million year headstart, they fell behind because they were so full of themselves.

Anyway, I need to use a picture of a Dash Rendar figure for what I'm making that looks comical but with a berserker's expression. I've narrowed it down to two options. A Dash Rendar figurine that has its face replaced with that of some artwork of Dash doing an angry face and the other is a small custom model by Oshunai made from a 40K Imperial Guard. So here's the question: Which looks less shit or more comically savage?

Magnets and gyros. Its a really unconventional and impractical design, and even though they made real robot for the film and promotional shit, the thing moves as awkwardly as you would expect unlike in the film. One could argue that this shape can hold a lot more "arms" and tools in each soccer pattern, but really the whole purpose of thing was designed to sale toys rather that resemble a realistic robot that serves a function.

The toys do from what I've seen, but I'm referring to the life size BB-8 I saw at the sand diego comic con shortly before TFA's release. But if they've improved the irl bot's movements for live events since then, then that's fine, but it's still a poorly-conceived design made only to sell toys.

dunno where to put this, so i figured here was best

https://screenrant.com/star-wars-luke-skywalker-rogue-one-squadron/

apparently in the (((marvel))) comics, luke was given command of a squadron not too long after the first death star and named it rogue in honor of jyn erso and the scarif cucks.

i haven't read the comics since they first began (stopped reading right before like issue 6), nor do i plan to ever resume reading, but unless luke was told jyn's story by someone else, shouldn't he have no knowledge of her at all?

also, i clicked on another of their pages and found this

https://screenrant.com/darth-vader-luke-skywalker-podrace-comic/

apparently, luke and vader end up on some random planet, luke gets involved in a podrace and almost wins, but vader sabotages it so he can still be the only human to have won a podrace.

what the fuck. not only do they continue to retread shit that was already done, but they continue to go full retard and declare it canon.

The theft of the Death Star plans was critical to the Rebellion scoring it's first significant victory against the Empire although Rebels portrays the Empire losing Star Destroyers, which cost an ass load of credits and material to build each, like loose change in the couch. I would expect that there would be plenty of buzz among Rebel Alliance cells about the people who made procuring those plans possible and he wouldn't have to hang around long to come into it.

On the other note, it was seriously just pettiness? There wasn't any ulterior motive to ripping up Luke's podracer? Vader just didn't want his record beaten?

That's ridiculously childish if so. It's not even "Saturday Morning Cartoon" villainy. It's what the bad guy in some early childhood edutainment show does.

Those wires probably don't even do anything and are purely aesthetic: Notice how that part of the torso is much thinner in the picture without the plating. I'd say it reminds people it's a droid, which stops uncanny valley.

Remember real looking artificial skin coating electronics is mundane in the GFFA. The lack of any droids that use it (Guri used cloned skin. Different tech) suggests uncanny valley is indeed something droid makers consider.

Why the fuck did Obi-wan even suggest Tatooine if the Naboo starship had a damaged hyperdrive? looking at a map not only is Tatooine seven sectors away at about 4500 parsecs, but there are a ton of other, closer systems that were just as under the radar as Tatooine.

You're not missing much in terms of galaxy wide events. It's mostly character driven stories in that period. The biggest threats at the time were probably the imperial revivalist Shadow Academy and the anti-human Diversity Alliance. The Shadow Academy did some hit and run stuff to built up its power and the Diversity Alliance acted clandestine while putting on a benevolent face. Both were defeated before they could become serious threats.

The list of stories goes:

<Hand of Thrawn (Bastion Accords)

>Union (Comic where Luke and Mara get married)

>Survivors Quest (Luke and Mara's honeymoon where they learn more about the Outbound Flight Project; ties into Outbound Flight which was set during the Prequel-era)

>Junior Jedi Knights (Ben Solo and Tahiri's first adventures. They free Massassi spirits on Yavin, visit the Tusken Raiders that raised Tahiri on Tatooine and look for Obi Wan's Lightsaber in Vader's castle on Vjun)

>Young Jedi Knights: Shadow Academy Arc (gangs are bad)

>Young Jedi Knights: Diversity Alliance Arc (raycism is bad)

>Young Jedi Knights: Black Sun Arc (drugs are bad)

The vastness of the galaxy is insignificant compared to the power of the force.

That and they're would likely planning on taking local roads minor routes onto the Corellian Run then going straight to the Core Worlds, with the damage forcing them to limb on backup drive to repair center. Other potential worlds along the way with actual populations are Llanic (only mentioned in an old republic setting, may not be active by TPM, plus I'm reluctant to consider any of EA's MMO shit canon), Arkanis (directly on a hyperspace nexus and important enough for an imperial academy so likely not covert) and Christophsis (mercantile hub, likely not covert).

Alternative explanation:

They had to make a quick Hspace jump after evading the blockade, and happened to jump in Tatooine's general direction. You can't steer in hyperspace, and want to make as few jumps as possible on a damaged drive, so Tatooine becomes the best choice.

Not really Star Wars, but it was mentioned in a halo book that distances in slipspace aren't exactly the same as in normal space. Given that hyperspace and slipspace are essentially the same thing, maybe that's what happened there?

>Slipspace is a tangle of intertwined non-spatial dimensions, comparably similar to a wadded up piece of paper; rather like taking the classic "flat sheet" used to represent gravity and crumpling it up into a ball, thereby creating extra dimensions and shorter spaces between points.

well, they clearly didn't shoot directly out of naboo facing coruscant, hence heading in tatooine's general direction. combine that with a leaky hyperdrive, and a need to blend in (while ironically standing out) by going to a world where nobody would recognize the queen's ship. not only that but they wanted one with less life on it in general, those other worlds along the way were part of trading routes, tatooine is space afghanistan.

I imagine the Ascendancy would be a very tough not to crack; as they're not expansionist themselves, and are relatively wealthy and technologically advanced, every system of the few dozen in Chiss space is a near fortress world. The juice isn't worth the squeeze for the Empire, especially when they have more urgent issues to deal with closer to home, such as securing the outer rim and the outbreak of the Rebellion. On top of that, while the Unknown Regions aren't completely unknown, they are pretty chaotic, and any incursion into Chiss space would also involve fighting off pirates and wannabe warlords.

Most aliens in the "Near-Human" classification are viable mating partners. Those who meet the following prerequisites are also viable:

1: Be humanoid (a must)

2: Be mammalian (optional but rare)

3: Be around the same size as a human (at least have the reproductive bits to fit each other, as humans can even reproduce with some ugly gremlin-looking freaks)

Other than that, as long as they were humanoid in body, a human could fuck them even if babies were possible or not. Pic-related are not compatible for offspring with humans yet they can still fuck due to similar physiology.

Strangely, despite being near-humans, Umbarans (the dudes who live on a dark planet and who Palpatine's aid was a member of) and the Anzati (those freaky dudes with probes on their faces) could not breed with humans without some minor genetic tweaking, presumably due to their violent natures and hostile planets I presume. Rattataki also can't reproduce with humans naturally, but some minor genetic tweaking can fix this easily enough, same for the two I mentioned before. Tusken Raiders and Jawas, despite being descendants of the original race from which Humans splintered from, are incompatible with humans and they are incompatible with each other.

Twi'leks are compatible with a wide range of species (for sex only), but they can reproduce with humans, although whether naturally or from modification is never stated since one account says they can't but another says they can. I assume that even without genetic modification, offspring can happen but it might all depend on luck if the "seed" survives the fertilization process.

That's what I said. Tusken Raiders and Jawas both descended from the ancestral race from which the majority of humanoids are believed to have descended from, the Kumumga which originated on Tatooine but were spread throughout the galaxy as a slave work force. Tusken Raiders and Jawas were the descendants of those who weren't taken offworld by the Infinite Empire and were forced to adapt to the now hostile environment of Tatooine which became a desert world because of the Infinite Empire's antics.

Anyone else feel like the Empire was too short-lived for what it was? 24 years between Sheev ascending the throne and him dying at Endor seems far too brief when you consider how extensive the changes under the Empire were, and the great degree of impact it had on the galaxy, and continues to have as the Remnant. For the culmination of a thousand years of Sith planning and cultivation to be wiped out in less than a generation doesn't seem quite appropriate to me, and really makes the empire seem kind of small when compared to the Republics that bookended it.

Also the clones were actually used by the bad guys. All of this making way more sense, sadly the prequels retconned most of that, despite that Zahn himself went to George to ask him for ideas, but like so many things, looks George retconned his original premise or simply just winged it at the time.

Oh Star Wars enthusiasts of /sw/

Is it canon worthy to think of the ESB vision scene by that tree on Dagobah, as Vader reaching out, as if in a dream, to find Luke.

This dreamy vision seemed to be saying "I am your father, join me, don't make me destroy you". All things Vader was doing while awake. Maybe Yoda could feel him reaching out and shielded them enough to keep him from knowing that he actually found him.

I read in a book (Heir to the Empire series, I think) a more mundane explanation.

Has this been discussed elsewhere? Is it acceptable or is the mundane version more accepted?

Also. Luke turns himself invisible in Palpatine's throne room.

1. The cave is explicitly stated to have a connection to the Dark Side. This is why the vision Luke sees in the cave is a personification of Vader. The cave prays upon Luke's violent feelings to make him act violently. Vader is a metaphor in the vision, not implied to have an actual impact on the vision.

2. Yoda urges Luke to remember his failure in the cave. Luke did not fail by entering the cave, but by the actions he took. If the cave would've provided a connection to Vader, Yoda likely would have disclosed nothing of the cave and would've consider Luke's failure to be entering the cave at all. How do we know that this is what Yoda means, however?

3. Luke fails the sort of proverbial test by bringing his weapon with him, which Yoda warns him not to. It is not that Luke entered, it is that entered with inner violent intent and desires. Luke's failure is inner, not outer. By having Vader tempt Luke to come to him in this moment, you lose a valuable piece of the lesson Luke was supposed to learn: that violence leads to violence. Remember what Yoda says: "Wars not make one great."

4. If Vader could truly influence Luje through the Dark Side cave, he would've be channeling the powers of the Dark. The Emperor, being much stronger than Vader, would've been more likely to influence Luke at all if that connection to the Dark Side could be exploited. Why would Vader have to channel through the Dark Side influence of the cave?

5. Because Luke and Vader are not connected until after their confrontation as Bespin. There is nothing in the film to imply otherwise and if you'd like I can go through the novelization to stress this point further.

I've decided to try my hand at writing a short story in separatist canon.. What planets in the Outer Rim would it make sense for an Imperial Patrol to be around to stop smugglers/detain unregistered vessels, but not so common as to be expected by the protagonist(s)? Bonus points if there's potential for interesting stuff down on the surface for potential plot.

The only thing I've really got nailed down is a basic idea about the plot, and the name of a character and ship. Pretty much some guy named Callus has a rickety Kuat Wayfarer class called the Corellian Comet and gets intercepted by an imperial patrol while smuggling/delivering something to a random Outer Rim world.

Honestly, that description would probably apply to any Outer Rim system that wasn't deep in Hutt territory. If you want to be a bit more realistic about it, you could look at a map of the Outer Rim and pick a world that's one of the established trade routes, as Imperial patrols will most likely be moving along those paths instead of sitting in the middle of a random system.

It's a cinematography and screenplay thing. Regardless of the information in a scene, you want it delivered in a visually interesting way. There are ways to do this beyond the soap opera method. It's true that it's difficult to pull off a good exposition scene, which is why screenwriting courses tell you not to do scenes in a restaurant. It's too overdone to add anything new or stand out in your screenplay. There's more to it, but that's the jist.

It's strongly implied in the OT that Stormtroopers are recruited from Empire controlled worlds. Outright stated in deleted scenes. Maybe George forgot, or changed his mind. I don't know.

I think the canon right now is that all of the old clones continued to serve until they died off and were replaced by enlisted men, anyway, so there would have been some clones still serving among regular humans in the OT.

The Imperial military started out as Fett line and Spaarti clones left over from the GAR. Over time, more and more of the military was recruited traditionally as the clones died off due to accelerated aging or the due to defects brought on by the Spaarti cloning process. Not to mention Kamino rebelling against the Empire, caused the Emperor to issue the final death knell to using clones in his military. By the time of Endor, the Imperial military was nearly 100% recruited from Imperial held worlds.

Later the Imperial Remnant and various warlords, used clones to supplement their armies and fleets. But these weren't based on the Fett genome and were instead based on Imperial commanders such as General Veers, and weren't as good because they were rushed into production rather than taking years of training and maturity.

It's impossible to get them elsewhere without going into the exposed upper levels. Rogue Squadron book 3 portrays flying through the streets in a mere fighter (let alone any kind of transport which is much bigger and bulkier) as something that taxes an ace pilot and Dawn of Defiance has landing zones heavily regulated and restricted to upper levels. DoD also shows the undercity is indeed a criminal hive.

Who says it isn't though? Star Wars rarely goes into exactly how the nameless thugs of criminal organizations were recruited.

Anyone familiar with the Living Force campaign? Mining the adventures for lore and encounters and I noticed scenarios only give a max of 1000 XP (many give less and it's officially possible to miss roleplay XP) but the guidelines say heroes above level 13 get retired. Problem is it takes 78,000 XP to get that high and even if a character did every adventure that gave XP (none of the LARP ones did), even though at least one set was country exclusive, and got perfect RP XP getting that high simply isn't possible. Was there some other source of XP?

I suspect it's a holdover from other RPGa stuff (I've heard hilarity of abusing XP costs and mutliclass penalties to create characters that never retire)

I can guess from the lack of mention when it would have warranted it the info on the Rakata was lost or classified into oblivion and only serious scholars like Darth Plagueis (who has some of their shit in his collection) know about them. KotOR2 has the Rakata Band item that states some Rakata that found their way coreward were mocked for their claims and there's mention elsewhere Rakata Prime has been declared off limits after the Star Forge battle, so it was clearly classified at some point.

I wasn't the one claiming anything was "truly alien". But those two you picked are pretty great examples of very human, very understandable aliens. Xenomorphs are terrifying because they look like people. Strange, mutant, violent rape-people who you can't even stab or shoot because they'll bleed death all over you. It's the juxtaposition of human and monster that add to the horror.

Grayylmaos are also, yes, extremely Humanoid. Perhaps because Humanoid is the best shape for advanced life, or perhaps because everyone who has ever professed to have seen one was actually having a drug trip or a nightmare or something. But they are hardly "alien".

If you want "truly alien", Lovecraft tried. Most of the time he also described chimeras (Cthulhu is a roughly humanoid dragon-octopus, for example), but then there's things like Shoggoths (perhaps his greatest hit) and the Colour out of Space. The lurker in the dark might also be like that, but I can't remember that one so good. But then, perhaps even those aren't Truly alien, because those were things a Human were able to come up with.

>How much did the general Republic citizen during the Clone Wars know about Old Republic history?

Not much, the thing you have to keep in mind about the Old Republic of KotOR 1 & 2 as well as Tales of the Jedi was removed from the clone wars by roughly 15000 years, and a lot of records along with whole planets were destroyed in the Great War between the Sith Empire and the Jedi led Republic. The Star Wars universe after the Old Republic is best looked at as post-apocalyptic, many of the wonders of the old world have been lost and stagnation is very real (this is why vehicles don't look that different and technology has, if anything, gone backwards).

>Like could they say who led the Republic during the Mandalorian Wars or what they were about?

No, unless the person was a serious history junkie with some deep reaching resources they would have no clue who Revan was. Even if they were in to history honestly that's pretty obscure, for while the Mandalorians invading seemed important at the time of KotOR after a conflict like the Great War it is barely a footnote.

Another thing of note that is kind of more obscure is that the Great War was not the only apocalyptic event in the Star Wars universe between KotOR and the Clone Wars, there were many others including a droid rebellion, the destruction of the holonet (which took with it much of the information of the galaxy), and there are likely many many others. Star Wars' universe is pretty much honestly in a constant state of apocalypse from war after war or other extreme events, even The Old Republic existed in the remnants of the Rakata Infinite Empire.

No, Palpatine is actually right, the Jedi are really taking over and Windu is trying to involve Anakin in the plot in overthrowing the duly elected Chancellor. Before Anakin arrives Windu is only messing with Palpatine by saying he's under arrest. Had Vader and Sidious not acted against the Jedi, then the Jedi probably would have killed all the senators. Darth Sidious wanted to prevent a Civil War but terrorists, some call "Rebels", can't have peace because they are Communists.

>You are under arrest, "my lord".

The "my lord" was actually sarcasm, also Windu only had the word of Anakin that Palpatine was the sith lord, but it was the perfect excuse, remember that Windu was itching to depose Palpatine due is growing concentration of powers.

>He's too dangerous to be left alive!

The guy just dispatched 3 jedi masters in less than a minute (ok, the way it was portraited in the movie was lame, ridiculous, but let's keep the illusion that those 3 "masters" were top guys), fought him in a way that only his shatterpoint trick was his advantage, vomited lighting and was still the Supreme Chancellor with control of the Senate and Judicial system. So..

Yes.

It depends really. The Old Republic era was shown to have a lot of advances in both technology and Power, and the Sith and Jedi back then were insanely strong, with even rank-and-file subordinates having rather impressive powers. Unlike in the future where only a minority are as strong as those of back then, but both the elites of the past and the elites of the present are equally powerful I would say judging from the Amazing shit Luke could do in his later years, along with a bunch of other notable cases from the Post Old Republic era.

2 things, 3 actually. First two, in-universe. By the movies era the banite Sith were operating under the philosophy of stealth and subversion. The didn't engaged in rampages to avoid drawing attention of the jedi and the republic. During the Empire there wasn't need to Palpatine and Vader engaging into lousy stuff. The jedi were reduced to glorified diplomats and peace keepers during the late republic. After the end of the Empire the Sith were gone, the Jedi were being rebuilt from scratch.

The other reason were out-universe. Lucas depicted the jedi as a almost dead religion with Palpatine and Vader being the last sith. Throwing things with the mind and lightning from finger tips were depicted as the apex of what space magic could do. Plagueis saving people from death was something like from an older era.

>Enjoyment requires no specialized learning but viewing ca be enhanced by fully immersing yourself in the sewer of contemporary entertainment - this makes the otherwise mind-numbing original features look sophisticated in comparison.

The line "mind-numbing original features" is describing the OT, no? But it's not totally mind-numbing. Sure, you don't have to think very hard, but mind-numbing implies there's nothing there at all but fast-paced action and other thrills, no? Sure, they do have plenty of fast-paced action, but there's plenty of emotion there too, and you do have to listen closely to the dialogue at times. I wouldn't call it cinema or film but a movie, if this second picture is actually accurate, at least from a fa/tv/irgin perspective anyway.

How did it become known post Naboo incident then? Maybe by the time the Clone Wars get in gear they've noticed that there never seems to be more than two Sith at one time, but how in hell would the Jedi figure that out right after the Naboo incident?

In Truce at Bakura, Luke doesn't hesitate to tell a whole dinner party's worth of people that Sheev was strong in the Force. I don't know if they actively push that angle but they certainly don't bother hiding it.

>Actually, how long is it before the galaxy at large knows Luke and Leia are siblings?

It's fairly common knowledge by Heir to the Empire. Most of the novels leading up to Thrawn don't really focus on the Skywalkers, so it's harder to place when that revelation was made.

Well, unlike the SSD argument, one thing the ~10k value has going for it is consistency. Maybe I haven't been looking in the wrong places, but every specific reference to numbers that I've seen for the old Order places them in the five figure range.

An order of only 10K or even 100K seems hopelessly inconsequential in a galaxy of quadrillions with over a million inhabited worlds. Even assuming that only 1% of those worlds are strategically significant enough to warrant the intervention of a Jedi, that's still only 1 Jedi per planet at the low end or 10 at the high end, who would be facing an army of millions or billions in large-scale conflicts. These figures lend a bit of weight to the statement that the Jedi are peacekeepers and not soldiers, but they stack the odds so heavily in favor of their enemies that you'd have to give each of them Genndy Wars power levels to make them feel useful at all, which makes it dumb to claim that they're not soldiers because they can wipe the floor with entire armies even if their official job is being a diplomat.

Battle Meditation isn't used by very many people, so you can't explain the usefulness of Jedi this way. But maybe many of the Jedi function in other supportive capacities like being healers. We know about the AgriCorps for Jedi trainees who couldn't hack it, even though we had a thread about the flaws of the concept. Maybe there are other similar occupations for those who aren't very good at fighting, especially since most of them have no military training and no talent for command. It honestly makes so little sense to assign them command roles that someone should have sensed that something screwy was up when the Chancellor wanted to put them in charge of an army. Telepathy is probably the most useful Force power because you can use it to find out the enemy strategy directly instead of prophesying the future, which is unreliable.

First-person lightsabers looked epic in DFII and MotS, but in combat the third-person view was simply far more practical, particularly against saber-wielding opponents. There's also the fact that the lightsaber's first person view in Outcast is nowhere as cool as the one in DFII.

Korriban specifically wasn't meant to be home to the entire Sith order, only potential Sith Lords–the equivalent of a Jedi Master. They had 2-3 other academies which produced the bulk of their Force users. It does seem a bit small because of that, and I'm not quite sure why Karpyshyn insisted on splitting the Sith into 3 different academies rather than just one. The scale makes sense when you think about it, but it's implemented in a somewhat screwy way that makes thinking about it counterintuitive.

Not counting Planetary bombardment as a space battle?

The opening to Heir to the Empire implies the Chimaera is within range to respond to the battle, and the defenders clearly don't see it, yet it is close enough to detect what is going on. Thrawn doesn't want to reveal the Chimaera yet so he doesn't engage though. It makes sense that the Chimaera would win in sensor range here since the opposition was some Assault Frigates which were just upgraded dreadnoughts (the oldest military spacecraft still in use in the galaxy) and fighters vs. a relatively recent Star Destroyer that was likely fitted with even better sensors for use as a command ship.

First Rogue Squadron book has a bit with the engagement scale large enough that the planet itself is used as cover. Second has a strategic contingency to avoid the New Republic fleet starting close to the target but it isn't used. Book Three has a battle at what is beyond visual range for one party (but not both ways because the other is so huge).

In the Rogue Squadron video games, maybe X-Wing/Tie Fighter, missles can lock on beyond visual range but fighters are agile enough this is rarely useful since it just gives them more response time.

one way to perpetuate yourself is by blood, another is by culture. for future generations to speak your language, follow your laws and customs, maintain your way of life, etc is not cucked. the key word is assimilation.

not only are the migrant hordes non-european, but they follow different cultures. they refuse to learn english/french/german, and want to impose their norms on the West. the invaders of Europe want to replace the Western legal tradition with their own Sharia law, and we've already seen early signs of this. if the globalists/cultural marxists win, we would not even be left with the Constitution, as the image wrongly suggests – that at least would mean some degree of assimilation. instead, legal principles would be slowly undermined, debased, and eventually made void. this tactic of bringing standards to the lowest common denominator to eventually erase them is part of the modus operandi of cultural marxism.

that's a key point in the resol'nare: it sets the bar reasonably high and does not compromise. you must mold and temper yourself to become Mandalorian, and this barrier to entry prevents the culture from being debased. likewise, if Western countries insist that immigrants study Western languages, adopt Western culture, etc. this would both maintain culture and limit miscegenation. therefore, both myself and the Mandalorians (whose flag I post under) accept immigration, as long as it comes with barriers to entry and assimilation.

keep in mind, if you maintain blood but not culture, you can get cucked that way too, eg the east asians who get completely Americanized.

No sign of them being Wolverine.

For whatever game stats are worth, Saga Edition's rules make them have a very high damage threshold (damage exceeding this value gives a impairing injury, and five of those is death) at +7 bonus, and a normal starting character's is typically something like 13 total, so this is actually a lot. This means they are very hard to inflict wounds on, even a heavy blaster rifle won't do it with consistantly (~16.5 damage vs. ~20 threshold), and small arms are even worse (a typical handgun simply can't do it, even on max damage, and a E-11 or equivalent also struggles) and to kill them you have blast through their raw HP. In out of game terms, that means they unless you kill them outright, they'll just keep coming at you.

Even in Star Wars, most gang conflict isn't done by taking heavy weapons to their hideout and shooting it up. It's typically "soldiers" shooting each other when they see their opposite with whatever gun they have handy, typically a shitty pistol. That doesn't work on Gamorreans.

The guy who manipulated the whole process to impose himself as a dictator or the guy who was trying to perform a coup d'etat and executes the other on the spot, throwing by the window all due process and rule of law. Both were traitors. Sidious for transforming the republic in a personal dictatorship and Windu for trying to depose and execute the chancellor on the spot and then put the Senate under their control (How they would justify the execution of the Supreme Chancellor by a small jedi group to the Senate?)

As the novelization puts, was Palpatine a traitor due his religious beliefs? He could be considered a "traitor" by his creation of CIS and the war but for that he would require a trial, proofs and all that. Windu condensed all and decided to kill the guy and not because that, but because "he was too dangerous to be kept alive". And he betrayed the republic even more by considering it corrupt and ineffective ("He control the senate and the courts" ignoring that there was already an opposition, influential enough to fund a guerrila movement later, to Palpatine in the Senate) to the point of deciding throw all law away and kill the guy on the spot.

Can someone elaborate on the Mandalorians? Are they really a multi-racial thing, and if so, was it always like that? It wasn't like that in KotOR. But I hear that by the film's timeline, that's what they're like. Are there even any Mandalorian-natives left excluding Jango? If that is the case, what happened to them? Yes, the Mandalorians are civic nationalism made manifest (see pic in >>33605 ). Neither Jango nor Canderous are truly Mando natives. The original Mandos aren't even human, they're a lizard-like race called the Taung. The Taung lived on Coruscant in the pre-republic era, before war forced them to exodus into what is now called Mandalorian space. It is suggested that they might be Coruscant's true native species, but this is never confirmed. They were still a plurality within Mandalorians at the start of the Mandalorian Wars, but by the time Malachor V got shoa'd they had gone extinct due to heavy combat losses.

>It wasn't like that in KotOR.

It actually was, KotOR and the Mandalorian Wars was when this really got going. That's why it's not uncommon to are human like Canderous in their ranks, although too can assume many of the Mandos in that game are Taung under the mask.

>Where can I learn more/sources?

<Tales of the Jedi comics

Has the original Mando race join the Sith against the Republic some 4000 years before the movies

<Knights of the Old Republic comics

Set one generation later. Covers the Mandalorian Wars. Mandos become enough of a threat to fight the Republic on their own by recruiting from other species. Note: Despite being multi racial at this point, some stories, like Open Seasons, depict them as humans for the most part.

<Jango Fett: Open Seasons comic

How Jango joined the Mandos during the Mandalorian Civil War and later became their leader, and how they met their end at the hand of the Jedi

<Republic Commando novels

About elite Clone Commandos trained by Jango. Covers lots of Mandalorian culture. Note: This is part of the Karen Traviss' biased and contentious Mando lore

<Blood Ties: A Tale of Jango and Boba Fett + Boba Fett is dead

Stories about Boba Fett and his secret non-clone family members, some of which live in Mandalorian space. Somewhat ties into Legacy of the Jedi below

<Luke Skywalker and the Shadows of Mindor

Six months after RotJ. Luke and friends team up with Fenn Shysa's Mandos.

<Legacy of the Force novels

Covers the big civil war after the Vong invasion. Basically Corellia vs Coruscant. Subplot is about Boba Fett rejoining the Mandalorians. Part of Traviss' Mando lore like Republic Commando.

>Honorable mentions:

<Marvel Star Wars comics

The pre-EU comics from the 80s had their own version of Mandalorians, which were slowly recanonized in Republic Commando and Shadows of Mindor

<Tales of The Bounty Hunters: The Tale of Boba Fett

Boba's origin story before the Prequels came out: He was a lawman called Jaster Mereel on the planet Concord Dawn. Later recanonized in Open Seasons and Blood Ties

<The Clone Wars CGI cartoon

Basically ignores all of the above

>all the comments saying that scene would have ruined the surprise of the colour when it's revealed on the barge

I think it would have only improved the ominous atmosphere to reveal it then instead. In that state I understand why the scene was cut, since Vader's delivery was too corny and the droids' dialogue did kind of ruin that atmosphere, but I think it would have been better if they'd been able to work a version of the lightsaber aspect into the movie.

Showing Luke with an unprecedented lightsaber colour that's neither the familiar Jedi blue nor Sith red would only have added to the ambiguous tone they set as he arrives at Jabba's palace. By the time it was actually revealed on the barge, that tone was well and truly dispersed. Having it revealed in an action sequence only leaves room for "oh neat, a different colour", whereas having it earlier leaves you wondering what it means.

Of course, it's moot at this point since even those watching for the first time are probably familiar with green lightsabers.

No, a wound in the force is a very rare, very unique, and very dangerous anomaly. It means that the person who is a wound is able to perform actions and wield powers that would kill the average force user if they even attempted it. Nihlus, for example, is able to drain the life from any living thing that the force touches just by existing. He's a dark side black hole that hit critical mass and no longer is a living being at the point you fight him. The Exile on the other hand has an innate ability to control other's influence and perceptions, able to drag them into darkness or bring them into the light.

The Vong are cut from the Force, like blanks. They don't register. A "wound" in the Force isn't cut from it, it consumes it like a black hole, a drain. It's a wound bleeding, distorting everything around. Nihilus was a walking wasteland, the Exile had the same potential of becoming a life devourer. Kreia intented to create a shockwave based in those wounds, this Force fuck ups that everyone would be cut from the Force. The insane part of her plan is that would entail a galactic wide genocide and destruction caused by such rupture in the force.

tl;dr: Wound in the Force = Force/life devouring singularities. Cut from the Force = blank, you don't register, can't access or be affected directly by the Force.

Why does there seem to be an aversion from OT Purists when it comes to exposition? They keep bringing up midi-chlorians as this bad thing that ruins the Force, but from the actual dialogue it's implied that midi-chlorians are simply what they use to measure Force potential, not that the Force came from bacteria. How does that ruin the mysticism of the Force, when it's still a mysterious force that binds all life together? It seems like they have such an attachment to the OT, that they can't except anything that's different and want the same thing over again like the Sequel Trilogy.

OT purists don't like exposition of any kind or immersion. They want to keep everything on a basic level because "mystery" and a desperate need to preserve that piece of their childhood in its most purest and uncompromised form, hence the inherent vitriol and dislike for anything outside the OT, except for TFA which is the only thing they approve of since that's a frame by frame repeat of ANH.
