This is getting a lot of attention in some parts online but so far it doesn't seem like anyone has brought it up for serious discussion. With 18k people attending and donating large sums of money, this can't be ignored.
This topic may look low level or irrelevant but I think not. Mass movements can do a lot based on them simply being mass movements, even if the individual contributes close to nothing.
I'll try to throw in the different aspects of this in a few following posts here.

This all seems like a hodgepodge of different energies congreating to create something larger than all the previously existing segments.

Still the illusion is real and the followers are willing to accept this to maintain the idea that their waifu is not the same as the "real", "3D" women on the same site. What I'm trying to communicate here has to do with how the human mind works, mass movements and the progress of society as a whole. These recent events feel like they mark some kind of important step, but I can't put my finger on exactly what is happening here.
Understanding these things is what this thread is for. Try to look at this from a serious perspective.
It's probably easy to just dismiss it based on the nature of the following, but that is fooling yourself. Most of the world is made up of fools, pointing that out is redundant.

If talking about information systems, culturally, this is balancing high up on the top of the pyramid, a team of a few people are able to control the entire structure. There's no "cheating" involved, they just seem to have a deep understanding of what will work.

The way I see it, it's a targeting a niche market for social misfits and the 2D addicted's sexual desires in the form of e-whoring, specifically catering to the current generation of poorly raised children. It's also an extension of the virtual youtuber movement. It all seems perfectly logical and expected, none of it is outside of my expectation of catering to the ideas of the modern world. Doesn't fit my taste and is mostly rejected by the imageboards I frequent, all but the most depraved of people are indifferent to it. Makes literal whores angry so it's positive in that front.
