Who is the leader of the rationalist community and/or the AI safety community? Or do they even have a leader?
Pic related, Yudkowsky is the most popular person on Less Wrong and seems to be the most important person in MIRI and MIRI is the biggest AI safety nonprofit organization.
Nick Bostrom was the biggest popularizer of AI safety concepts with his book Superintelligence. Demis Hassabis of DeepMind is the most important person when it comes to AI in general and possibly AI safety. I think Scott Alexander has the most reader of the rationalist figures. Holden Karnofsky seems to be the most important person in effective altruism circles. Dustin Moskovitz and Elon Musk are the richest people giving money to effective altruism and AI safety.
My conclusion: I dunno, it doesn't seem like the rationalist community has a proper leader. But my impression is that Eliezer Yudkowsky's have been historically the most important.
