I cannot conceive of a way to increase human welfare after capitalism has done the work of lifting the world out of poverty other than increasing IQ and decreasing time preference of the human species. How we do it doesn't matter. Transhumanism is just a non-biological way of doing this. Personally, I favor IVF embryo selection as describe by Steven Hsu.
We can't just indefinitely increase human consumption and wealth. We live on a finite planet, and there are diminishing returns to wealth and happiness anyway. Hell is not other people. Hell is people who have low IQs, high time preference, or both.

This raises the question: what forces put selective pressure on time preference (in either direction)? Probably connected to life history strategies, but that makes me think increasing time preference might be problematic.

> increasing time preference
You mean decreasing?
I don't really care how we got here. I just want it to end.

High time preference is far worse than low IQ

OK, but if you want it to end, you better figure out the selective pressures which cause it in the first place and address them.
For example, do you really think people with high time preference or low IQ have enough foresight to get IVF? Even if it's government subsidized? And what are the relative fertility rates of low versus high time preference groups? How do you fix *that*? The masses won't accept a plan to only give welfare benefits to women who gene fix, which is roughly the amount of coercion you'd need to even have a chance!

The underclasses don't even have replacement fertility anymore, and they certainly won't on UBI and soy rations.

Authoritarianism is negatively correlated with intelligence. If you don't believe me, Google it and check out the studies. Maybe you could argue for a Kuznets curve where the mid-to-high IQ is libertarian, while both low IQs and very high IQs correlate with being authoritarian, but I doubt that matches the evidence.

This is a common mistake, but you've got time preference backwards, "high time preference" is the shortsighted one.

extreme political beliefs on either side of the left-right spectrum correlate with high IQ though, that includes extreme authoritarians on either end
