i had some luck killing them by putting apple cider vinegar into a cup or jar, then making a funnel out of paper and tape and putting it on top - leave a little space for air between the vinegar and the bottom of the funnel. They fly in, attracted to the smell, then are too stupid to get out despite having plenty of space - thw funnel doesnt even have to be too narrow, just enough to confuse them so they accidentaly fly too low, or get confused and tired. The vinegar will be littered with dead fruit flies quickly. such a beautiful sight.
