Who was 8chan's mascot? Who is 8kun's mascot? Half-chan has a green-haired girl as a masocot, but I remember someone said "back when it was good, its mascot was a pretty girl. Then it turned into this obnoxious tranny nobody likes."
This referred to Desu. Now half-chan's /b/ is often flooded with tranny threads and doesn't have much OC anymore, so Desu would be more representative of it. However, the time I heard about Desu was a damn long time ago, probably even before pizzagate, which changed the site drastically.
As for 8chan's mascot, if anyone remembers the poor crying Aqua in the corner. But I actually saw another big website with Aqua as part of the background (nyaa pantsu or nyaa si). I dunno if I'd call it a mascot, especially if another site used her as well.
Based on how this site currently is, a MAGA-wearing Polandball with a Qanon badge, wearing diapers. Certainly not a loli. And very clumsy. It needs to be one of those anime klutz characters who trips over their feet because 8-kun behaves strangely.
Should it be a cute girl like Aqua, or an obnoxious brat like Desu, I dunno. This site seems to have less prepubescent children running around posting memes in poor taste than half-chan does.
This site is young, but can't be a loli in consideration of the fact that it's no longer allowed here. So it's the opposite of those five hundred year old vampire lolis. Young but not counting as a loli.
I see 8kun as a separate site than 8chan was. I dunno how it is that the Polish board is the second most active. They have an active Egypt board as well. It's weird. Qanon wasn't around back in the 8chan days, so that's another factor that appeared and gave 8kun a separate identity from 8chan.
8kun may be called so because it's smaller, or maybe it's an affectionate term because 8chan was a lot less homely. If anyone remembers, it was super active. It was a big headline that it got taken down.
Well, I don't know much about mascots. I just recall the stories about them. 8chan may have had a mascot that rivalled 4chan's official or unofficial mascot Desu, who was a lot more attractive. Maybe nobody remembers, I hope someone does.

Who are those characters? I recognize that the other 8kuns are probably 8chan.moe and 64ch.me, among others. Also, it appears that 8kun is only female in the bikini pic. In the last pic, the milf with the glasses says "Ara ara", which is typically said by shotacons to shotas.
So I'm guessing the lady snake yelling at them was 8chan.

The AnonRed is a mascot for anonymous culture, not the site as a whole. 4chan has the green anon, but that was made by the users of /b/. The other boards never embraced it. 4chan's mascot was always either the green haired anime girl or the brown haired one in OP's pic

No, Yotsuba became official only after Moot assumed full control of the site circa late 2005.
Suiseiseki was never a mascot/representative. It was originally a spam-meme DESUDESUDESUDESUDESUDESUDESUDESUDESUDEDESUSU
In the very early days, Suzuran was quite popular, but wasn't given mascot/representative/brand status.
The faceless Anonymous (w/ '[picture not available]') was something I invented in early 2004 in a fake MTG exploitable ("..posts the best porn on /s/"). The greenface only outnumbered the noface version after the Habbo/Scientology raids
AnonRed appeared on 8chan at the time of the GG exodus, when the Anons fleeing halfchan needed a new selfimage.

Who else was in control of the site at that time? So what you're saying is there was never any mascot, save for Yotsuba after '05? What anime character was WT Snacks supposed to be?

"/b/tard" wasn't invented on iichan on the 14th of Jan 2004 either after someone else suggested "/b/astard".
> Who else was in control of the site at that time? So what you're saying is there was never any mascot, save for Yotsuba after '05?
4chan resulted from a SA interest in the 2chan software, a group (including CensoredVagina?) did the translation to English, and the lot of them ("The Team", 4-5 people) pitched in for a server, with moot being the one signing for the domain name. No-one was really keen to be the leader because it was really a porn board with massive legal liability. moot was underage, too.
When the MySpace sale happened ($580M..), moot got greedy and assumed control of the server's passwords. Someone did get it back for about a day, but moot's/Pooles name at the hosting company got the site's passwords changed.
moot actually wasn't liked by old-timers: making underage girls mods, the lying about "not4chan" Loli board not being hosted on the community-donations-paid-for 4chan servers (when traceroute and packet fingerprinting showed it was), actively encouraging camwhores (Strifeheart, etc.) to pay him attention during the donation drives, lying about the site's income (..buying the latest high-end Macbooks and holidays in Germany when supposedly the site was losing money massively..), lying about not being a honeypot (and then the board software being leaked), selling /a/'s Moetron, ...
Anons were Anons; there were always several offsite chan boards (idlechan, 420chan, etc.) so the 'anonymous community' wasn't specific to 4chan, and we really weren't keen on moot molding it into a trademark for him to own. (There were rumours of him trying too.. and Moetron was something he grabbed and sold.)
> What anime character was WT Snacks supposed to be?
That was just some drawfag's invention.
Drawfags were tripping over themselves to be the inventor of a official moe-mascot. About every 4-6 months another one would try to force-meme their own tard-tans. The ones we know of today for /x/, /v/, etc. really took about 3-4 years to be accepted.

A note for youngfriends-- 'monacatgirl moot' is practically a fursona, being something he chose and not Anons. Again, something post-2005, when Moot was posting how much he hated 'Anonymous Culture' (after Shii's manifesto)...except when TEDx invited him to present himself in front of Dot.Com investors, and then he was the self-appointed expert on Anonymous and you should all invest in his Canvas Facebook app company.
The Anon-chosen representative for moot was the Postgrad Mexican guy, and that appeared ~feb 2004.

Speaking of anons, I guess AnonRed, AnonGreen, Faceless Anon, and AnonKun represent different heterogeneous communities. Lately, the Guy Fawkes masks represent a group of politically motivated hackers, rather than anonymous people in general. It's been a while since I've seen anyone wear them for anonymity.

>Lately, the Guy Fawkes masks represent a group of politically motivated hackers
That developed almost immediately after it appeared.
The CoS operations were booted from halfchan when mootles wet his pants after the Clam Lawyers emailed him. The popular RAR-archives-in-an-image trick was blocked at the same time, which was how the OT documents were being passed around on /b/ back then.
The EFGs split for other chans, most losing the original Anonymous Culture attitude, and becoming another species of Political Slackivist. (And those lulzsec faggots.)
