Sheep leave their things vulnerable for the convenience of other sheep, which only opens the door to wolves. The door is controlled by authorized wolves but the person who holds the key is a sheep. That sheep works for the wolves. The key lies there, yet the other sheep walk past it.
The wolves say, "You left it there because you are trying to entrap us." The trusted sheep capture the evil wolves.
To catch an evil wolf, they need cameras near the door to cover every blindspot. Sheep contractors come to install them. The keys remained in place once the cameras are ready. Every sheep that walks by sees the cameras and complains to other sheep about it. "They're using the thefts as an excuse to violate our privacy!" "They want to track us and sell our data." "This is wrong!"
The cameras are removed when the trusted wolves realize the force they needed to use to keep the sheep compliant will damage their relationship with the other wolves and will cause monetary damage if the evil wolves aligned with the sheep's cause.
The evil wolves steal the key again. When captured, they say, "You didn't prevent this! It doesn't matter, they have insurance."
The other sheep hear on the news that the previous wolf had been caught for stealing the key. The sheep did not want to risk it. They never wondered why the wolves could effortlessly take the key. They have almost miraculous faith that the trusted wolves would come to immediately capture them and brand them a wolf. The sheep do not think they are confident enough and they are profoundly scared. The sheep know that the key was there, they just can't bring themselves to take it.
The wolves think the sheep are held back by external factors, not their genomes. The wolves claim that if the sheep didn't want them to pick up the key the sheep dropped, they should have hidden it better.
The sheep listen to the wolves and turn against their trusted wolves and say, "Tell the other sheep to hide the key. Laziness isn't an excuse for surveillance."
The key is hidden, the wolves get better and better. Some get captured, most escape.
