Be Joseph Smith Jr:
>Is convicted of charlatanism for using a seer stone to find treasure
>Lives most of his life as a non-religious person
>Suddenly claims to have received a vision from God
>Then contradicts that account, saying he saw God the Father and Jesus
>Then, claim to have received a vision of an angel who revealed the location of the golden plates
> Then, ask someone to transcribe the plates for you (but that person cannot see the golden plates)
> Use the same seer stone you used to find treasure to translate and transcribe the plates
> Transcribe the supposed plates using the language of the KJV Bible (including its translation errors)
> Suddenly, lose the pages of the supposed dictated text (but that doesn’t matter anyway—who cares?)
> Finally, publish the writings (including the spelling errors)
>Sell the writings (because, after all, nothing is free—not even the words of God)
>Gather some deluded followers and found a church
>Suddenly, cheat on your wife with a minor and claim that this is God’s will
>Go so far as to steal the wives of your own followers as well (after all, that’s God’s will)
>Join the Freemasons and incorporate that into your church
>Order the persecution and destruction of those who find your practice of polygamy repugnant
<Get arrested
<Die at the hands of the people revolted by your actions
>Become a saint, martyr, and prophet in the eyes of your followers
