Depending on what you mean by satanists, they can easily also be Christians: the form of satanism that believes everything that Christianity does, having read through the entire Bible and accepted all of it as a true and trust worthy account, and then sided with the opposition to God.

The idea being to be so much of a violator of the laws of god and man, doing the most offensive taboo evil illegal immoral and sinful things they can just for the expectation of gaining some form of status within hell. Bad is good and doing the opposite of everything anyone wants them to do, and doing everything everyone wants them not to do. Usually involving a lot of sex and violence.
