I’ve been looking for a long time and can’t find one
I spent weeks trying to find a transgender woman, not out of any malicious intent, but more out of curiosity and a desire to understand more about her experiences. I started by attending community events, reaching out to online groups, and trying to approach conversations with respect and empathy. But despite my best efforts, I found myself hitting walls. I quickly realized that my attempts were often misguided—either too intrusive or based on assumptions about what it means to be transgender. It became clear that I was approaching it the wrong way, trying to seek a person out rather than simply letting connections unfold naturally. In the end, I came to understand that it wasn’t about finding someone to fit a specific expectation; it was about listening, learning, and respecting people for who they are, without turning their identity into a search or a project.
