I live in germany and we had online classes. The teacher told us to leave a comment on a website and I said some things about ww2.

Mr. ### said that they found out that I was the one who posted but I was using a Tor. Do they know it was me or are they just trying to get me to admit to doing it. Can their it department trace the comment back to me?

>told us

How did he tell you? aloud with everyone getting the same website to comment on, or in an email or txt? If it's the latter, they could very easily have sent everyone a different URL, so they'd know it was you no matter how you connected.

OP, did thoughts of doing an Aaron Schwartz flash through your mind when you discovered your life was over?

The link was the same for everyone. I don't want to get into the specifics because it could give my identity away.

Does your computer have any endpoint management software from the school? Do you have to VPN (or other proxy) into the school? If so then yeah they've probably got you.

Otherwise maybe they can figure it out by a process of elimination, by asking other students. In this case it's your word against some other student, you're fine and should just deny. But there's probably some reason they already suspect you. Be on guard.

Reminds me of a case where a student posted a bomb threat via tor while at school. They knew it was him because there was only one computer at school connected to tor network lmao.

if they know that an exit node was used to post and that you were the only one in your class using tor then they probably know its you
