It is Biblical

And it is nothing new

Cancel Culture

Cancel culture has plagued humans throughout history – but one glaring biblical example is the crucifixion of the Christ. I am not attempting to argue the historicity of this. But, since it is part of the Western psyche, it has lessons to teach us.

Who are the players?

• Jesus, the Christ, certainly.

• The Weak Ruler(s)

• The Social Justice (OK, Religious Purity) Activists

• The Incited Mob

• The Condemned Criminal

• And let’s not forget the disgruntled companion

What parts did they play?

Well, the parts must sound eerily familiar. First we find the SJW crowd, the governing elites, that, in the name of preserving the nation multiplied rule upon rule until even they couldn’t keep up with the weight of them. Their name? Oh, these were the beloved Pharisees. If you haven’t had time in your life to get to know them, well, just look around you at the SJW crowd and you have a very good idea of what they were like. If you want a bit more in-depth, go read the Bible (Matthew 26 and 27). It would be highly beneficial to remember what was as we face what is.

Next we have Jesus, the Christ. His “sin” was that he ignored all the rules the SJW crowd tried to enforce on others while ignoring them themselves. Oh, and that the people really like this breath of fresh air as more and more turned away from their Pharisee masters’ rules to follow the alternative. How dare they! How dare He?!!!

So, what are a group of elite SJWs supposed to do? Well, why not incite a riot to force the weak ruler to do what we want? Yeah, street riots are nothing new. But, no, that would not look good at a High Festival… what to do? Oh, false accusations and fake news, all in a good day’s plotting. So, we go to the ruler and accuse the Christ of committing treason. Is any of this starting to sound familiar? Not only that, we get one of his own to point him out and rat on him! Genius!

So, they gathered “a large crowd armed with swords and clubs, sent by the chief priests and elders of the people” to apprehend him. None of the elites would be sullied with such a mundane task! Send the brown shirts instead.

Then they had their Congressional hearings, sorry, they had a gathering of the Sanhedrin…and, surprise, surprise, they found him guilty of treason! Deep, dark Russian collusion – or was it destruction of the Temple? Does it make a difference?!

But, not having the power to convict, with the separation of powers and all, they take him before the governor demanding that “justice be done”! After his examination, the governor could only say: “I find no guilt in him”. But that answer would not satisfy the “deeply offended SJW crowd”, so they demand something more severe.

Trying to give them a way to save face, the governor suggests giving the Christ his freedom, as it was the custom to release a prisoner in honor of the High Feast. The governor thought he would make the choice obvious by making them choose between the innocent Christ and a convicted killer. But, much as today, the SJW elite preferred to release the convicts and convict the innocent if that furthered their plans. So, Mat27:24 when Pilate saw that he could do nothing, but that instead a riot was starting, he took some water, washed his hands before the crowd and said, “I am innocent of this man’s blood. You take care of it yourselves!”

Those who ignore history are bound to repeat it…
