I work for a US based power equipment distributor. This year we suddenly got into the lawn mower buisness and sold a crap ton of these things. There was no quality control. Many don't run or literally fall apart. It's junk.
With the conversations I've had with the CEO, I notice his only real concern is breaking even on these.
We also began moving production from China to Vietnam very rapidly. It seemed like they went from nothing to a working factory in less than 8 weeks.
Yesterday I received a notice from The United States International Trade Commission looking into China's government subsidizing lawn mowers to sell below market value. This is the letter I received with the notice.
