Food is not a commodity, it is not “stuff” put together mechanically and artificially in labs and factories. Food is life. Food holds the contributions of all beings that make the food web, and it holds the potential of maintaining and regenerating the web of life. Food also holds the potential for health and disease, depending on how it was grown and processed. Food is therefore the living currency of the web of life.

As an ancient Upanishad reminds us “Everything is food, everything is something else’s food.”

Good food and real food are the basis of health.

Bad food, industrial food, fake food is the basis of disease.

Hippocrates said “Let food be thy medicine.” In Ayurveda, India’s ancient science of life, food is called “sarvausadha” the medicine that cures all disease.

Industrial food systems have reduced food to a commodity, to “stuff” that can then be constituted in the lab. In the process both the planet’s health and our health has been nearly destroyed.

Planetary Impacts

Seventy five percent of the planetary destruction of soil, water, biodiversity, and 50 percent of greenhouse gas emissions come from industrial agriculture, which also contributes to 75 percent of food-related chronic diseases. It contributes 50 percent of the greenhouse gases driving climate change. Chemical agriculture does not return organic matter and fertility to the soil. Instead it is contributing to desertification and land degradation. It also demands more water since it destroys the soil’s natural water-holding capacity. Industrial food systems have destroyed the biodiversity of the planet both through the spread of monocultures, and through the use of toxics and poisons which are killing bees, butterflies, insects, birds, leading to the sixth mass extinction.

Biodiversity-intensive and poison-free agriculture, on the other hand, produces more nutrition per acre while rejuvenating the planet. It shows the path to “zero hunger” in times of climate change.

The industrial agriculture and toxic food model has been promoted as the only answer to economic and food security. However, globally, more than 1 billion people are hungry. More than 3 billion suffer from food-related chronic diseases.

It uses 75 percent of the land yet industrial agriculture based on fossil fuel intensive, chemical intensive monocultures produce only 30 percent of the food we eat. Meanwhile, small, biodiverse farms using 25 percent of the land provide 70 percent of the food. At this rate, if the share of industrial agriculture and industrial food in our diet is increased to 45 percent, we will have a dead planet. One with no life and no food.

The mad rush for fake food and fake meat, ignorant of the diversity of our foods and food cultures, and the role of biodiversity in maintaining our health, is a recipe for accelerating the destruction of the planet and our health.

Mystery as pagan altar and symbol unearthed in Edinburgh’s Holyrood Park

Two mysterious pagan objects have been removed from a secluded part of Holyrood Park after they were uncovered by chance, the Evening News can reveal.

Archaeologists were called in after the remains of a concrete “altar” and a pagan metal plaque were discovered on Whinny Hill above St Margaret’s Loch.

The ornate metal plaque, which experts have confirmed to the Evening News as likely to be pagan, was found embedded in the ground within a sod of turf cut in a triangle shape. It depicted two figures – a male figure with horns and a female figure in a surrender pose – set within a pentagram within a circle.

The pentagram is a recognised symbol of paganism and is also used in devil worship.

The second find was a concrete “altar” with display objects found next to the plinth. Both were buried beneath topsoil.

Specialists were called in by park guardians Historic Environment Scotland after the bizarre items were found in May last year.

But, even more curiously, according to a new report compiled by Musselburgh-based firm CFA Archaeology Ltd and seen by the Evening News, both had been removed “by persons unknown” at some point before they investigated the site in April this year, leaving just the concrete plinth and holes in the turf.

Mark Black, president of the UK Pagan Council, said the plaque was mostly likely pagan after the images of the find were shown to him yesterday.

He said the points of the pentagram depict the four elements, earth, fire, air and water.

According to Mr Black, the two figures are the Horned God and the Goddess of Water.

There are also a number of rune stones embedded in the concrete triangle around the plaque, as well as a number of small figures, one apparently of an angel.

However, he said it was strongly against pagan tradition to use concrete in any kind of ritual, as only natural materials such as wood or stone should be used.

“It’s a mystery,” Mr Black said. “No pagan I know of would embed a pentacle in concrete, or leave it behind. As a pagan you’d leave a site in exactly the same state as you found it.”

Like, imagine an advisor to Shinzo Abe going to China and giving a press conference with Xi Jinping telling the Chinese that Japan is going to invade South Korea, and apologizing that they haven’t done it already.

John Bolton stood in front of an Israeli flag at a podium identifying him as an employee of the Prime Minister of Israel.

You couldn’t even satirize this.

Without a winking smiley or other blatant display of humor, it is utterly impossible to parody a Jewish shill in such a way that someone won’t mistake them for the genuine article.

This is so incomprehensibly bizarre that it is difficult to even wrap your head around.

On Friday, Tucker Carlson called for John Bolton to be fired.

He said, “there is nothing normal about John Bolton,” and I lol’d.

I don’t think Bolton is going to be fired. And I don’t think Trump is canceling the war in Iran. Tucker says that if Trump had gone through with the strike on Thursday, he would have lost the 2020 election. But he also admitted that a war is initially good for poll numbers. So what Trump can do is wait until closer to the election to start bombing Iran.

Furthermore, unless Bernie gets the nomination (sadly, Tulsi and Yang have no chance), the Democrat is also going to be pro-war, which means that Americans are going to be deciding who will do the war better, not whether or not we should be in a war.

In fact, if Trump started the war before the Democrat primaries, then it would be good for Bernie.

I hope that Bernie makes the fact that Joe Biden, Kamala Harris and all the rest of these people are war hawks central to his campaign strategy. Because I will endorse him over Trump, without question.

Trump has proven himself to be deranged and dangerous. Whether he is simply being manipulated by Jews – and I think this is the case – is totally irrelevant. Whatever is driving him, he is a lunatic who is going to start World War III because the Jews told him to do so.

MONA's Dark Mofo festival has ended its seventh year with record-breaking crowds and sales, but next year's event might not get much bigger, organisers say.

The annual winter festival has once again successfully drawn thousands of interstate and overseas visitors to the island state in a time where locals are rarely brave enough to venture outside past 6:00pm.

Perhaps more impressively though, it convinced those same locals, in droves, to exchange the warmth of their homes for nights filled with darkness, debauchery and just the right amount of weird.

But while the record-breaking tickets sales might be a cause for celebration —they clocked up over $4 million at the box office with more than 100,000 tickets sold, a 25 per cent increase on last year — festival director Leigh Carmichael said it feels like they have reached capacity in some areas.

Followup to the Brody Stevens Hwood comedian death story:

To set the scene for what follows, I have to non-dox dox myself by saying that I am an insider into the world of Hwood stand-up comedy. I know them all, and they know me. What they don't know, and never suspected, is that I am, and have been for a long time, their polar opposite when it comes to politics. Their mortal enemy. I hid it well, and my association with them (pre-Trump/storm/Q/awakening) was mostly pragmatic, about money. You don't shit where you eat, so I never brought politics into the picture, no matter how mislead and deranged I thought so many of them were. Of course, now having been awakened about the reality behind so many things post 911, count me among the mislead for having been such a strong supporter of GWB. As a vet, I felt it my obligation to support the president at a time of war. Still, I wasn't really all that far from those lib comics when it came to being manipulated. At least I knew not to vote D, is now the only good thing I can say about myself during those years.

Comedian Brody Stevens, who took his life earlier this year, and I go way back. He was a true comedian's comedian, and fan favorite. It was his mission in life to bring positive energy to everything he did, with everyone he met. In hindsight, knowing his mental health history, that was also therapy, a decided life tactic to beat down demons and negativity in his own head.

As a teen star baseball player, then pitching starter for the Arizona State University team, he knew well the pressures of that position, the extreme highs and lows, to win and lose by narrow margins. For those of us who knew him in the years before his death, it seemed as though he finally had a handle on his demons. It was very shocking when his death story hit, and in the weeks that followed, the comedy scene in Los Angeles was one long wake, part mourning, part celebration. Story after story was told about Brody, and everyone had one, including me.

What I knew, and what some of his closest friends knew, was that he was not a loony liberal. Exactly what he was on the conservative political scale is not known, but it definitely was not what everyone else was around him. I'm sure he knew I was conservative, and through the years he would acknowledge it in subtle ways. On Twitter I allowed no comedians to follow me except Brody. For years on Twitter (pre-Q) I was all about two things: my interest in a specific sport (in which I am active for fitness), and the conservative side of common sense political issues. He would regularly "like" both. To balance things out, he would also like his loony friends' diatribes too. He called politics theater, and respected the art of putting together a good rant. In Hwood, tossing the word respect around makes for good cover.

In 2011, Brody had a public meltdown on Twitter, then began threatening people in public, culminating with him being hauled out of his house (pulled naked from his shower) by the police, then sent to a psych ward for "17" days. What most don't mention in their version of Brody's Twitter meltdown, was his point blank blasting tweets against Hollywood and liberalism, including comments in support of conservative radio show hosts such as Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity. I read them at the time, and was stunned! Not surprising, it was both Zach Galifianakis and Sarah Silverman, two ultra-liberal, Democrat party bootlicking friends of his, who were responsible for setting up the intervention and having him committed to the psych ward.

My version of what happened to Brody is that he had become too aware of his surroundings, that he was among spiritual vipers. Whether they said it to him or not, they probably harbored and directed negativity toward him because of his political beliefs. I don't doubt many were resentful of his growing success and influence among the comedy world, which was a political threat. I think he knew about Q and the GA. He was always on the internet checking out the latest Twitter and Reddit trends. Absolutely he checked out all things Q, and that's when it probably hit him. Working, living among, and supporting Hwood was spiritual death. He had nowhere else to go. He was alone in the world, no one to turn to. His every waking moment was an act, hobnobbing with, and supporting all those liberal vipers. The emptiness and guilt must have been crushing. Time to exit stage right. There may yet be a sinister side to his death, that it wasn't a suicide, but I haven't heard anything specific.

French fiscal administration launches probe over Ghosn's wealth: Liberation

PARIS (Reuters) - The French fiscal administration has launched an in-depth probe into the wealth of former Renault-Nissan Chairman Carlos Ghosn, French daily Liberation reported on Sunday, citing sources.

Ghosn, who holds French, Lebanese and Brazilian citizenship, is facing financial misconduct charges, which he denies. He was freed in April from jail in Japan on $4.5 million bail.

Suspect expenses Ghosn made when he chaired carmakers Renault and Nissan amounted to about 11 million euros, Renault’s board said in a statement on June 4.

A notification on the investigation was sent to Ghosn and his wife, the daily reported. Francois Zimeray, one of the lawyers for Ghosn, said he had not been informed.

Congressional Pay Raise Headed for Senate-House Deadlock

WASHINGTON—Legislation clearing members of Congress to receive a $4,500 Cost-of-Living-Adjustment (COLA) pay raise appears headed for a vote this week in the House of Representatives but the Senate is going in the opposite direction.

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) expects the lower chamber to vote on the legislative funding proposal that does not include specific language rejecting the COLA.

Under a 2009 law, senators and representatives—who are currently paid $174,000 or more—automatically get annual COLAs unless they pass legislation explicitly rejecting the increased pay. The $4,500 represents a 2.6 percent pay hike.

The COLA has been rejected every year since 2009, but both Hoyer and House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) said June 20 they support allowing the increase to take effect in 2020.

Hoyer told Roll Call the legislative funding bill, minus the COLA rejection language, that House leaders pulled from a vote earlier this month will be back on the floor Tuesday or Wednesday.

Asked if he expects the measure to be approved, Hoyer said, “We’ll see. But I feel very strongly that’s the correct policy.” McCarthy told Roll Call the same day that he does not “believe Congress should only be a place for millionaires.”

McCarthy also noted, however, that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell opposes the COLA and “that does complicate the path for this to become law.”

Anti-Pay Raise

Bolstering Senate opposition was a June 19 vote by the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Government Affairs to adopt an anti-pay raise measure co-sponsored by Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) and Sen. Mike Braun (R-Ind.).

The Scott-Braun “No Budget, No Pay Act” was approved along with a technical amendment introduced by Sen. Kirsten Simena (D-Ariz.) on a 9-5 roll call vote.

Several Republican members of the panel, including committee chairman Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), voted against the Scott-Braun-Simena measure that would require congressional pay to be placed in escrow and withheld whenever Congress fails to fund the government.
