However, it has been shown in multiple congressional testimonies (Lisa page, Peter Strzok) that everybody knew that evidence against carter page was false/fake.
It is believed that Rosenstein signed the FISA applications. The public is waiting for the declassification (or an un-redacted version) of the FISA application.
In fact, it has been shown that the "evidence" for opening an investigation about Russia (the so-called "salacious Steele dossier") was

Although Special counsel Robert Mueller detailed 10 'episodes' involving actions by President Trump that might have constituted obstruction of justice, neither the DOJ, nor Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein believed those actions violated the law.
Remember that this has nothing to do with the premise of the investigation. However, the Mueller team was given a mandate to persue any crime they uncover during the investigation. While I am told that such a mandate is not uncommon, I think it is universally-agreed that in such a case (if you could call it that), it is totally inappropriate (obviously, this one is an investigation desperate for a crime).

There’s no dispute that at least some, if not a great deal, of information in the anti-Trump “Steele dossier” was unverified or false. Former FBI director James Comey testified as much himself before a Senate committee in June 2017. Comey repeatedly referred to “salacious” and “unverified” material in the dossier, which turned out to be paid political opposition research against Donald Trump funded first by Republicans, then by the Democratic National Committee and the Hillary Clinton campaign.
Presentation of any such unverified material to the Federal Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) court to justify a wiretap would appear to violate crucial procedural rules, called “Woods Procedures,” designed to protect U.S. citizens.
Yet Comey allegedly signed three of the FISA applications on behalf of the FBI. Deputy Director Andrew McCabe reportedly signed one and former Attorney General Sally Yates, then-Acting Deputy Attorney General Dana Boente and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein each reportedly signed one or more.
Woods Procedures
Woods Procedures were named for Michael Woods, the FBI official who drafted the rules as head of the Office of General Counsel’s National Security Law Unit. They were instituted in April 2001 to “ensure accuracy with regard to … the facts supporting probable cause” after recurring instances, presumably inadvertent, in which the FBI had presented inaccurate information to the FISA court.
It’s incredible to think of how many FBI and Justice Department officials would have touched the multiple applications to wiretap Trump campaign adviser Carter Page --- allegedly granted, at least in part, on the basis of unverified and thus prohibited information — if normal procedures were followed.
The FBI’s complex, multi-layered review is designed for the very purpose of preventing unverified information from ever reaching the court. It starts with the FBI field offices.
According to former FBI agent Asha Rangappa, who wrote of the process last year in JustSecurity.org, the completed FISA application requires approval through the FBI chain of command “including a Supervisor, the Chief Division Counsel (the highest lawyer within that FBI field office), and finally, the Special Agent in Charge of the field office, before making its way to FBI Headquarters to get approval by (at least) the Unit-level Supervisor there.”
Next, it goes to the Justice Department “where attorneys from the National Security Division comb through the application to verify all the assertions made in it,” wrote Rangappa. “DOJ verifies the accuracy of every fact stated in the application. If anything looks unsubstantiated, the application is sent back to the FBI to provide additional evidentiary support -- this game of bureaucratic chutes and ladders continues until DOJ is satisfied that the facts in the FISA application can both be corroborated and meet the legal standards for the court. After getting sign-off from a senior DOJ official (finally!).”

The Department of Homeland Security says it expects to use facial recognition technology on 97 percent of departing passengers within the next four years. The system, which involves photographing passengers before they board their flight, first started rolling out in 2017, and was operational in 15 US airports as of the end of 2018.
The facial recognition system works by photographing passengers at their departure gate. It then cross-references this photograph against a library populated with facesimages from visa and passport applications, as well as those taken by border agents when foreigners enter the country.
The aim of the system is to offer “Biometric Exit,” which gives authorities as good an idea of who’s leaving the country as who’s entering it, and allows them to identify people who have overstayed their visas. Quartz notes that US authorities have traditionally relied on airline flight manifests to track who’s leaving the country.
Since the introduction of the current system, facial recognition identified 7,000 passengers who overstayed their visas on the 15,000 flights tracked. The US Customers and Border Protection (CBP) estimates that over 600,000 people overstay their visas every year, an offense that carries a maximum penalty of a 10-year ban from entering the US.
Critics argue that building up a database of millions of people’s photographs is a threat to civil liberties. Once you have the database, it would be easy to share it with other agencies, effectively turning it into a search tool for all law enforcement.
The current iteration of the system first entered trials in 2017 on a single flight between Atlanta and Tokyo. It was originally planned to roll out more widely at the beginning of 2018, but its implementation was fast-tracked by the Trump administration and was expanded to more airports in the summer of 2017.

The Ontario Provincial Police announced Wednesday that Mexican drug cartels have been sending drugs to Canada by rail hidden in Ford cars made in Hermosillo, Sonora.
Police say they started investigating last December after employees at four Ontario Ford dealerships reported finding suspicious packages in the spare tires of Ford Fusion cars sent from the Sonoran capital city. Police identified the packages as meth, and eventually found more than 400 pounds of meth hidden in cars shipped to Canada from the Ford plant in Hermosillo.
During a press conference Wednesday, Ontario police said they were confident that the Sinaloa drug cartel is responsible for the drug smuggling. But they have not found any drugs in recent car shipments and think the cartel has stopped using the Ford cars to transport meth to Canada.

Israel bans Gaza Christians from going to Jerusalem, Bethlehem for Easter
Israeli occupation authorities refused to issue travel permits for hundreds of Palestinian Christians from Gaza who planned to visit holy sites in Jerusalem and Bethlehem during Passover, Safa news agency reported yesterday.

Israeli rights group Gisha reported complaints against the Israeli occupation regarding the restrictions imposed on people who want to travel during the Jewish Passover holiday which coincides with Easter.
“This is a flagrant violation of the freedom of movement, freedom of worship and freedom of enjoying family life for the Christians in Gaza,” Gisha said, noting that Gaza is an example of a “wider Israeli racist policy”.
According to Haaretz, Gisha said that this measure aims to deepen the division between the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.

Dollar Dominance Is Under Multiple, Converging Threats
(Op-Ed)
For years, currency analysts have looked for signs of an international monetary “reset” that would diminish the dollar’s role as the leading reserve currency and replace it with a substitute agreed upon at some Bretton Woods-style monetary conference.
The use of the dollar as a weapon is not limited to trade wars and currency wars, although the dollar is used tactically in those disputes. The dollar is much more powerful than that.
The dollar can be used for regime change by creating hyperinflation, bank runs and domestic dissent in countries targeted by the U.S.
But for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.
Many have warned for years about efforts of nations like Russia and China to escape what they call “dollar hegemony” and create a new financial system that does not depend on the dollar and helps them get out from under dollar-based economic sanctions.
These efforts are only increasing.
Russia has sold off almost all of its dollar-denominated U.S. Treasury securities and has reduced its dollar asset position to almost zero.
It has been amassing massive quantities of gold, and has increased the gold portion of its official reserves to over 20%. Russia has almost 2,000 tonnes of gold, having more than tripled its gold reserves in the past 10 years. It has actually acquired enough gold to surpass China on the list of major holders of gold as official reserves.
This combination of fewer Treasuries and more gold puts Russia on a path to full insulation from U.S. financial sanctions. Russia can settle its balance of payments obligations with gold shipments or gold sales and avoid U.S. asset freezes by not holding assets the U.S. can reach.
Certainly any talk of a monetary reset must involve China. Despite its present weakness, China is still the second-largest economy in the world and the fastest-growing major emerging market.
Europe has also shown signs that it wants to escape dollar hegemony. For example, German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas has called for a new EU-based payments system independent of the U.S. and SWIFT (Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication) that would not involve dollar payments.
SWIFT in the nerve center of the global financial network. All major banks transfer all major currencies using the SWIFT message system. Cutting a nation off from SWIFT is like taking away its oxygen.
In the longer run, these are just more developments pushing the world at large away from dollars and toward alternatives of all kinds, including new payment systems and cryptocurrencies. The signs of a reset are everywhere, but at least for now the dollar is still king of the hill.
The dollar represents about 60% of global reserve assets, 80% of global payments and almost 100% of global oil sales. With such a dominant position, the dollar will not be easy to replace. Still, the trends are not good for the dollar. The international reserve position may be 60%, but as recently as 2000 it was over 70% and just a few years ago it was still at 63%. That trend is not your friend.
In that case, the replacement of the dollar could happen almost overnight. Individuals will not be allowed to own SDRs, but you can still protect you wealth by buying gold. Both countries have more than tripled their gold reserves since 2009.
But attacks on the dollar are not limited to gold or SDRs themselves. The most imminent threat to the dollar actually comes from a combination of gold and digital currency.
The fact that Russia and China have been acquiring gold is old news. Still, there are practical problems with using gold as a form of currency, including storage and transportation costs.
The new cryptocurrency (calling it that now is a mistake but lacking any other description it has to do-do not confuse it with current crypto's)
would be a so-called “stable coin,” where the value was fixed with reference either to a weight of gold or another standard unit such as the SDR.
Such net settlements would require far less gold than gross settlements (where every transaction had to be paid for in real-time). This type of system (also called a “permissioned blockchain”) is not pie-in-the-sky, but is already under development and will be deployed soon. But you can count on the U.S. government being the last to know.
(Disagree with that last statement as it is imperative that it does know and facilitates the augmentation of that type of system-namely asset backed money)
The development of a gold-backed digital currency is just one more sign that dollar dominance in global finance may end sooner than most expect.
And we may be getting dangerously close to that point right now.
