Seem to be about Cohen mainly. Nothing too surprising. He was contact before the campaign even began. Just my quick eyeball over it earlier. It looks like he was set up as a bait for Trump, to entice the trump camping along with Ivanka as well.

That section, to me anyway given what we already know about Cohen, spells out pretty clearly that there was a force working in tandem with the Russians to attempt to lure Trump in to a trap.

Cohen, along with others were offered campaign services that would have trapped Trump in a legal dilemma. It appears that this was the clear goal between the people who contacted Cohen and others.

That's my take on it. The general feeling I get. Apologies I could not be more through.

241-250: WaPo article 12 Jan 2017 said Flynn talked to Kislyak (the Logan Act story). Trump asked Priebus about the story, Priebus asked Flynn about it, Flynn told McFarland to call WaPo and say he didn't talk about sanctions.

Senior DoJ officials were concerned Russian records of talking about sanctions could this be compromat, beyond the Logan Act issues.

While talking about Flynn, the report throws in that senior Administration officials didn't like Comey.

Back to Flynn, Eisenberg and McGahn discuss what laws Flynn could be nailed on.

Comey had dinner with POTUS alone and claimed to have said honest loyalty.

Eisenberg and McGahn told WH that Flynn was unlikely to be prosecuted. Flynn resigned as requested by Priebus. POTUS told Christie that since the Russia thing was Flynn talked to Russia and he fired Flynn the Russia thing would be over. Christie replied that it was far from over.

This section mainly focuses on Putin & Russia’s desire to form relationships with the newly elected Trump and his team. “They appeared not to have pre-existing contacts and struggled to connect with senior officials around the president elect”. It also addresses Manafort’s meetings and plans with Russian officials.

• Manafort & Kalimnik talked about resolving disputes regarding Manafort’s previous work with Russia; specifically the Deripaska lawsuit & funds owed to Manafort for political consulting (before Trump’s election).

• After Manafort resigned from the Trump campaign, he still offered political advice. This was confirmed in e-mails, but the advice was pretty obvious, generic stuff that would be common knowledge to awake people (things like Hillary possibly blaming the Russians if she were to lose).

• Manafort met with Oganov (previously had worked at Russian embassy in US) in Madrid in 2017. He initially denied this meeting to Mueller’s office, but later confirmed it.

• Shortly after the meeting, Manafort contacted KT MacFarland (deputy national security advisor) saying that he had acquired important information regarding Cuba. There’s no evidence that anyone responded to Manafort’s offer.

• Manafort’s e-mails show he was trying to broker a Ukranian peace deal with Kalimnik. The did polls on Trump & US supporting the Autonomous Republic of Donbas. Manafort threw Trump’s name out there, but there’s no evidence of Trump’s knowledge or involvement.

• “The office has not uncovered evidence that Manafort brought the Ukraine peace plan to the Trump campaign or the Trump administration”.

• Hope Hicks got a phone call from someone claiming to be Putin on election night. She was unsure of who it was. She got an e-mail from “Putin” the following day. She & Kushner confirmed it was Putin. 5 days later Trump & Putin spoke on the phone.

• Petr Aven, A Russian national who heads Alfa-Bank, met with Putin & oligarchs to discuss protecting the bank from possible US sanctions after Trump’s election.

• George Nader (UAE employee) arranged a meeting between Dmetriev (head of Russia’s sovereign wealth fund) & Erik Prince (businessman with connections to Bannon, Trump Jr, & Roger Stone). Nader did not introduce Dmetriev to anyone in the Trump campaign prior to the election.

• The Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) has a lot of coinvestments with UAE & has ties to the Crown Prince Mohammed

• Putin said he didn’t know the people around Trump when he was elected.

b. Events of 6/9/16

After Lew left the campaign, Papdopolous communicated with Clovis and Whalid, about a meeting with Mifsud and Timofeev.

Papadopolous met directly with Clovis and Phares at a TAG meeting. Clovis couldn't remember the meeting but a picture is provided, showing him sitting next to Papadopolous.

Papadopolous took notes and kept a journal of his meetings/encounters. His memory of emails, events and notes are all consistent.

On august 15 2016

Papadopolous and Clovis were encouraged to meet with persons from the office of Putin. Clovis declined to do so but encouraged Papadopolous and Whalid to do so. Meetings were not to be official meetings and no endorsement or acknowledgement were to be given by the campaign.

Papadopolous was dismissed from the campaign in Oct. 2016 after he gave an interview to Interfax, a Russian news agency. That interview created unwanted publicity.

"Dirt" on Hillary

Papadopolous admitted to telling a Greek foreign minister, about Russia obtaining Clinton emails. A foreign government, other than Greece, informed the FBI about Papadopolous knowing Russia had emails that could hurt Hillary Clinton. Such information made the FBI suspicious if Papadopolous had informed the Trump campaign of any of this.

Papadopolous and campaign workers could not recall any talk of Clinton emails.

Another contact the FBI wished to contact was Sergei Millian. He was out of the country and would not allow contact with him.

July 15 2016, Papdopolous had contact with Millian via Linkedin. This was right after the TAG meeting with Clovis and Timofeev. Millian told Papdoplous he had connections high up in Russia and suggested some meetings. Timofeev said no. Papdopolous met with him in New York, July 31st and August 1, 2016. He was asked was to go to 2 meetings in Russia which Papdopolous declined. Papad then contacted the Trump campaign to put Trump in touch with a Russian-American voters group, but he was told to hold off on that. This was July 31st 2016.

August 23, 2016, Millian sent a message to Papad , that he wanted to "share disruptive" technology that would help the Trump campaign against Hillary. Papad said he had no recollection of that.

Carter Page

Background on Carter Page:

He worked for the Trump Campaign from January 2016 to September 2016. He was announced as a foreign policy advisor in March 2016. Page had lived and worked in Russia for many years before he volunteered for the Trump Campaign.

Russian intell. officers had developed relations with Page before he joined the Trump campaign, but the investigation could not find that Page worked with the Russian Government to interfere with the election.

This delves into Page's business setup and contacts in Russia and they have nothing to do with Trump or his family. This was in the years before joining the Trump Train. The intell. officers were trying to get information out of Page but Page seemed to have none. Page kept coming in contact with officials and giving them immaterial, non public, information that did them no good.

In Jan. 2016 when Page began with the Trump campaign on a volunteer, non-paid position, he began giving his thoughts and ideas for Russian-USA relations and how to improve them.

Page tried to promote a Trump-Putin meeting. Page and the Russian officials wanted a meeting to happen(this being in 2016) They thought it could help bring an end to the new cold war. Page was critical of sanctions against Russia.

In April of 2016, Page provided feedback on an outline for a speech for Trump to give. Clovis appreciated the work.

Page was invited by invitation in April 2016, to give a speech in July 2016, in Moscow, at a commencement ceremony at the New Economic School(NES). Obama had spoken there in 2009 . It draws high-profile speakers.

Page wanted to go and asked permission from the Campaign. While they were considering it, Page tried to get Trump to take his place and give a speech instead. Lewandoski told Page he could go on his own, not as a representative of the DJT campaign. Also that Trump would not be able to attend.

During Page's stint in Moscow, the Klimentov brothers contacted the Director of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, about Page and his connection with the Trump campaign. Dimetri K. told Maria he could answer any questions she might have about Page and that he would contact him for her.

When Page gave his first speech, he was critical of the United States policy towards Russia. The Russian Deputy Prime minister also spoke after Page, at the July 8th commencement. He thought perhaps he and Page could work together in the future. While Page was there in Russia, he met with old friends.

Also, Trump had no recollection of whether he was in Trump Towers on those days. His calendar showed he had meetings in NYC but he can’t recall where the mtgs took place. His answers also indicated that TV footage of him on these dates could shed light on these days.

He consistently confirmed mtgs on his calendar but honestly said he could not remember the specifics of the one that day because he was doing such much each day during that time period of over 2 years ago.

He explained there were times when his staff received communication and responded to some of the people in questions, but had no independent recollection. Even on the receipt of a painting and book given by Aras Agalarov.

Also sounds like Mifsud and Polonskaya had an intimate relationship and Mifsud drafted or edited some of her emails to Papa D.

Papa D's omitted statements caused the FBI to mishandle an interview with Mifsud at a Washington D.C hotel in February 10, 2017.

iii. Michael Flynn - Lied about conversations with Kislyak. Asked him to refrain from escalating fighting against sanctions on Russia, which Kislyak said he would refrain. Flynn told K.T. McFarland about it. Nothing new in here anons don't know.

iv. Michael Cohen - Lied about Trump Tower Moscow timeframe. Said project ended January 2016 but ended June 2016. TLDR; This section describes the time during which General Flynn came under fire from Congress and the press and was subsequently dismissed by POTUS, Sessions recused himself from the Russia investigation and wheels were set in motion for the appointment of the Special Counsel. It does NOT include that appointment. Various media reports were considered valid testimony. Inasmuch as many media reports of the day were unreliably sourced and highly speculative, this does not seem reasonable.

On the question as to whether POTUS committed obstruction of justice in re: Flynn, Mueller (et al) concluded that his actions likely satisfied 3 of the 4 required elements, but not the fourth, “intent”.

If intent is lacking, then the crime of obstruction of justice did not happen, no matter how the actual events played out. The determination regarding the other three elements is based on how others might have subjectively understood his words and on the contemporaneous actions of James Comey, who was later shown to have lied and deliberately leaked confidential information to the media (which is its own crime). That, to me, raises doubts as to his motives for those contemporaneous records and conversations and thus whether he understood POTUS words as they were stated or twisted their plain meaning to suit his own agenda which was, from the beginning, in opposition to the Presidency of Donald J. Trump. If Mueller can speculate as to POTUS intent, I can just as reasonably speculate about the motives of James Comey.

Although the term “collusion” is mentioned several times, it is worth reminding readers that “collusion” is nothing more than a synonym for “cooperation” and is not a crime.

Flynn is said to have told people in Trump's circle that he did not speak on that subject with the Ambassador, when he actually did; And those people repeated it to others, so the report claims; but does not give names nor to where it was repeated and to what significance to anything it would have..

J. President’s Conduct Towards Flynn, Manafort, HOM

1. Conduct Directed at Michael Flynn

Trump asked Flynn to resign on 2/13/17. In public, Trump praised Flynn’s character. Trump asked his advisors to tell Flynn that he “cared about him” and to “stay strong.”

On 11/17, Flynn began cooperating with Trump’s Office and on 11/22/17, he withdrew from a joint defense agreement with Trump. Flynn’s legal counsel communicated with counsel for both Trump and the WH, stating that Flynn had to cease “confidential communications” with Trump. Trump’s counsel left a voicemail for Flynn’s counsel stating that if Flynn had made a deal with an agency within government, they needed to know. On 11/23/17, Flynn’s counsel returned a call to Trump’s counsel acknowledging their voicemail and reaffirmed that information could no longer be shared with Trump. Trump’s counsel disagreed and interpreted this as Flynn’s hostility towards POTUS. Flynn’s counsel saw this as an attempt to make Flynn reconsider this decision.

2. Conduct Directed at Paul Manafort

Paul Manafort and Richard Gates (deputy campaign manager) were indicted by a D.C. grand jury on 10/27/17, on multiple felony accounts. On 2/22/18, they were indicted with additional accounts by an Eastern District of Virginia grand jury. The charges against Manafort covered the period from 2005 to 2018.

In 1/18, Manafort assured Gates that they would be taken care of, suggesting that they would be given special protections under Trump’s direction based on Manafort’s communication with Trump’s counsel. Manafort discouraged Gates from pleading. Manafort denied any reference to a “pardon” [presumably by Trump] when asked by Gates.

Trump did not believe Manafort knew what he was doing on the Trump campaign and that he did not like Manafort. Trump asked his aides whether Manafort may have information harmful to him and wondered if Manafort was cooperating the Special Counsel’s investigation.

Publicly, Trump criticized the prosecution and suggested Manafort was being treated unfairly. On 6/15/18, Trump stated to the press that he felt bad about Manafort’s situation, specifically that the grand jury reached back 12 years into Manafort’s activities, and restated his desire to see fair treatment of Manafort. Later that day, Manafort’s bail was revoked and he was further charged with tampering with a witness while out on bail. Trump tweeted a reply reminding that Manafort had worked on other campaigns, that he didn’t know “Manafort was head of the mob”, and he was unfairly treated. Trump also questioned lack of oversight with Comey, “Crooked” Hilary and others.

Rudy Giuliani is Trump’s personal lawyer. When interviewed just after Manafort’s bail, he suggested that it is within the scope of Trump’s powers to pardon Manafort, should he wish to, but that he could not while the Special Counsel’s investigation was ongoing. He commented on this topic across different interviews with essentially the same message, that a pardon is Trump’s prerogative, should he decide, but that it is neither a given nor is it off the table, especially when it was suggested that his or Trump’s comments influence defendants’ cooperation in the investigation.

On 7/31/18, Manafort’s criminal trial began (ED of VA), with heavy media coverage. Trump complained in a tweet the next day that AG Sessions needed to stop the “rigged witch hunt,” that Mueller was conflicted and that “17 Angry Democrats” were doing “his dirty work.” Another tweet reminded that Manafort was only briefly involved in the Trump campaign and that he should have been made aware that Manafort was under investigation at the time he joined. Trump reiterated that current charges had nothing to do with collusion and questioned why Manafort was serving solitary confinement without conviction. The press queried Sarah Sanders about Trump’s tweets and she reaffirmed Trump’s complaint about Manafort’s unfair treatment.

Giuliani stated Trump had been very upset over Manafort’s treatment, calling it “un-American” and “horrible.” On 11/28/19, Trump described Manafort as “brave” for not having “flipped.” He railed against the use of “flipping,” or lying, by prosecutors to get defendants to say what prosecutors want.
