U.S. Consulate in Toronto hit by gunfire

No injuries were reported after police said a pair of men exited a white Honda CRV before firing shots at the downtown Toronto consulate in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
A heavy police presence was visible in downtown Toronto, where police say a suspect fired shots at the U.S. consulate in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Authorities say gunfire struck the building around 5:30 a.m. and follows similar instances of gunshots targeting synagogues in the city.
Speaking at a press conference, Toronto Police Deputy Chief Frank Barredo said two individuals got out of a white Honda CRV and fired what appeared to be a handgun at the consulate, located near University Avenue and Queen Street West.
The vehicle was last seen headed southbound on University, police added.
No injuries were reported, and as of now, the suspects remain unidentified.
“This cannot stand,” Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow said after the attacks on synagogues and now the American consulate.
“As we have seen too many times, antisemitic incidents spike when international tensions rise. It is never acceptable to target the Jewish community.”
Ontario Premier Doug Ford also spoke about the incident on Tuesday, calling it an “absolutely unacceptable act of violence and intimidation aimed at our American friends and neighbours.”
The shooting at the U.S. consulate in Toronto comes just days after an explosion at an American embassy in Norway was reported.
Norwegian police said the blast in Oslo, which only caused minor damage, may have been an act of terrorism.

The former host of CBC's “Canada Tonight” program is shedding a light on issues he faced prior to his “forced” departure in 2025.
A video posted to YouTube last week detailed how Dhanraj is preparing to reveal details surrounding the events leading to his exit from CBC, which saw him launch a human rights complaint alleging he was on the receiving end of discrimination, harassment and bullying as a person of colour.
Dhanraj also claims the network was politically biased, particularly against Conservatives, something he suggested is driving the party's push to defund the taxpayer-funded broadcaster.
Further, he claimed two of CBC's most prominent faces, hosts Rosemary Barton and David Cochrane, personally targeted him for harassment.
“This was not a voluntary decision,” Dhanraj said of his departure from CBC. “It comes after trying to navigate a workplace culture defined by retaliation, exclusion, and psychological harm.”
He is expected to testify before the Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage around 11 a.m ET (9 a.m. MT).

During a four-hour interview on The Shawn Ryan Show, Ripperger affirmed that during his exorcisms demons at times have called out the sins of people “very high up within the Catholic Church.”
“They’ve talked about very specific details” about sins that members of the Church hierarchy have committed, Ripperger said. “And it’s not just me. Other exorcists also get bits and pieces of this stuff.”
Demons have even revealed the names of these corrupt Church clergy to Ripperger and other exorcists, he shared.
Ripperger also shared that some people “within the Vatican” are displeased with his work. Asked by Ryan why this would be the case, he replied, “If you’re involved in sins that are particularly egregious, you’re not going to want someone like me out there trying to teach people the faith and how to fight the good fight and become more knowledgeable about their faith.”

The priest explained to former U.S. Navy SEAL Shawn Ryan on his show that, through Baptism, “God infuses a quality in the person’s soul which is a mark.”
The Catechism of the Catholic Church notes that this spiritual mark, which is “indelible” (impossible to remove), “seals the Christian” with the character “of his belonging to Christ.”
Fr. Ripperger affirmed this, telling Ryan that during the Sacrament of Baptism in the Catholic Church, chrism is signed as a cross on the forehead “as an indicator that this person has been consecrated to Christ through his baptism.”
“The Mark of the Beast is going to be an inversion of that,” said Fr. Ripperger, suggesting that instead of signifying that one belongs to Jesus Christ, the Mark will signify that one belongs to the Antichrist and rejects Christ. He explained that, according to the Church Fathers, one will not be able to receive the Mark without “some type of renunciation of Christ.”

That’s the question I set out to answer after hearing claims that, since 2019, Canadian media can legally spread lies without criminal repercussions. It sounded alarming, so I dove into court records, parliamentary bills, and historical precedents to get the full picture.
Let’s start with the basics. For over a century, Canada’s Criminal Code included Section 181, a provision that made it a crime to “wilfully publish a statement, tale or news that he knows is false and that causes or is likely to cause injury or mischief to a public interest.” Violators could face up to two years in prison. This law traced its roots back to 13th-century England, designed originally to shield the powerful from slander. In Canada, it was rarely used, but it hung there as a potential check on blatant falsehoods.

The turning point came in 1992 with the case of R. v. Zundel. Ernst Zundel, a notorious Holocaust denier, was charged under Section 181 for publishing materials like “Did Six Million Really Die?” The Supreme Court of Canada struck down the law, ruling it violated Section 2(b) of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms—our guarantee of freedom of expression. The court argued the provision was too vague and overbroad, potentially chilling legitimate speech. From that moment, Section 181 was effectively dead, though it lingered in the code like a ghost.
Fast forward to 2019. Despite being unconstitutional for decades, the section wasn’t formally removed until Bill C-75, An Act to amend the Criminal Code and other laws, received royal assent on June 21, 2019. This omnibus bill cleaned up various “zombie laws”—provisions invalidated by courts but still on the books. Section 181 was finally repealed, aligning the code with the Charter. Critics argue this removal symbolized a shift, making it “legal” to spread false news without criminal penalty, even if civil remedies like defamation suits remain.

Broadcasters are still bound by CRTC regulations, which prohibit airing “any false or misleading news.” A 2011 proposal to loosen this—allowing false news unless it endangered public safety—was met with public outcry and withdrawn. So, for TV and radio, standards hold. Online and print media, however, face fewer direct criminal barriers, relying on ethics codes and lawsuits.
Digging deeper, I found this change fits into broader debates on free speech versus misinformation. In an era of social media echo chambers, removing outdated laws might protect expression, but it also raises concerns about unchecked disinformation. As one legal expert noted, the repeal reinforces Charter protections but underscores the need for media literacy.
What does this mean for Canadians? We’re left to discern truth ourselves, armed with skepticism and fact-checking tools. The media’s responsibility hasn’t vanished—it’s just not backed by this particular criminal stick anymore.

Independent media organizations are being shut out from asking questions of the federal immigration minister after the department introduced a policy requiring journalists to meet government-approved criteria before receiving responses.
Blacklock's Report says the office of Lena Diab declined to comment on the policy Tuesday after refusing inquiries from non-approved outlets.
According to a Department of Immigration notice, only journalists representing organizations that meet specific standards will be granted access to media relations services.
The notice states the department must be satisfied that reporters are “media professionals who represent bona fide media organizations,” using criteria similar to the “qualified journalism designation” outlined in the Income Tax Act (Canada).
However, the act itself does not define journalism. Instead, the designation is determined by the Canada Revenue Agency for the purpose of deciding which newsrooms qualify for federal journalism subsidies.
CRA guidance published in 2019 indicated that eligible organizations must meet several requirements, including demonstrating a consistent practice of allowing those being criticized — including federal departments — to respond.
The guidance also referenced expectations that outlets publish government statements in certain circumstances.
Government departments have frequently contacted media outlets seeking changes or corrections to reporting.

Industry Minister Mélanie Joly said in a March 9 statement that TikTok Canada agreed to implement enhanced protection for Canadian users’ personal information, including “new security gateways and privacy-enhancing technologies” to control access to user data.
The company also agreed to implement improved protections for minors, and to appoint an independent third-party to audit and continuously verify data access controls, Joly said.
She said the decision comes after a “thorough assessment” of information gathered during a further national security review of the company, including advice from Canada’s security and intelligence agencies and other government partners.
“The Government of Canada will exercise its full authorities under the Investment Canada Act and ensure the full implementation and enforcement of the measures committed to by TikTok Canada,” Joly said.

Mark MacChesney who served as a member of JTF2, an elite special forces unit, was found guilty in the Ontario Court of Justice last fall of assaulting his ex-wife Malory Seaboyer in August 2020, September 2022 and November 2022. The same judge also found the 41-year-old soldier guilty of mischief for damaging a wall in their matrimonial home.
“His character, and public service are both mitigating factors on sentence. But I find that they also bear on his moral responsibility. * There are documented life saving benefits to cancer patients which the Court deems “irrelevant”.
* Doing a Podcast Interview or making a Youtube Video constitutes “practicing medicine without a license” which can lead to imprisonment up to 2 years (this is new).
* Health Coaching is now illegal in Canada (this is new).
* This also applies to Naturopathy and all non-allopathic medicine health fields which are now also effectively illegal.
My Response:
* I am complying with the Court’s Directions to remove what was described as “offending social media”.
* I am moving out of Canada as soon as humanly possible.
* I am securing the safety of my family who are in extreme danger after recent threats were issued.
* I intend to open a Florida Clinic to help cancer patients as soon as humanly possible.
* My Florida Medical License is approved and is not in any danger.

The 0's as 6's is just on the surface and the number 666 is actually more pronounced in the logo.
The following illustration shows in red the filled part of each of the 0's. This amount is 66.6% of the circle. I have confirmed this using Grok which produced a filled circle to 66.6% level as if it were filling a tank of liquid. The curve is part of the equation as from point to point it is not 66.6%. But if you take the shown curve it is 66.6%.
Note that the circles in red are accurate 66.6%, this Truth Warrior put the yellow circle in for illustration, but as they did the curve, it is not quite 66.6%. If you match the curve from the red circles in the yellow precisely it is 66.6%. This yellow circle is for illustration.
So embedded in plain sight, not only is the obvious 6 for 0's, but also a precise 66.6% shown to everyone.

The subsidy program originally began as temporary aid, but has since ballooned into a permanent, shadowy slush fund draining taxpayer dollars with zero oversight.
“Enough’s enough,” Blacklock’s posted on social media, highlighting how what was sold to Canadians as short-term help for struggling news outlets in 2019 has morphed into an endless handout for 141 news corporations, complete with secrecy that shields insiders from scrutiny.
Blacklock’s first recommendation is to mandate full disclosure of subsidies to named beneficiaries. “News subsidies are paid without restrictions on use of aid,” they noted, pointing out the glaring double standard: Taxpayers who receive modest $2,500 Canada Student Loans get proactive disclosure of recipients, yet newsrooms pocketing up to $29,750 per employee in payroll rebates operate in total obscurity.
Lack of transparency has allowed for egregious abuses to proliferate, such as the insolvent SaltWire Network of Halifax, which pocketed $5,174,847 in aid only to use it for paying delinquent taxes while laying off employees.
Similarly, Discourse Community Publishing in British Columbia hired foreign workers with subsidy dollars before being slapped with a $10,000 fine for breaching federal labour laws. And in a stunning irony, the Winnipeg Free Press – after receiving the very aid meant to save it – shuttered its 149-year-old Parliament Hill bureau.

The NDP is down to a handful of seats, while the Liberals keep consolidating power through the back door.

Airlines across the globe are starting to hike fares and fuel surcharges in response to a surge in oil prices sparked by the war in Iran, and Canada is no exception.
Several carriers indicated this week that higher ticket prices are likely—or already a reality—in response to cost pressures stemming from fallout of the conflict, which entered its 12th day on Wednesday.
Transat A.T. Inc. CEO Annick Guérard said Air Transat has already begun to tack on bigger fuel surcharges for flights to Europe as jet fuel prices soar.
“What we’re also doing is currently raising fares on peak travel dates and routes where we see less competition,” she told analysts on a conference call Tuesday.
WestJet has suggested that price rises may be necessary, as has United Airlines—a Star Alliance partner of Air Canada, which means some flights booked via the country’s largest carrier could be more expensive.
“It’s likely further pricing adjustments may be needed,” WestJet told reporters this week, noting that fuel comprises its biggest cost. Continue…

The Canadian Security Intelligence Service won’t specify the advice it gave the federal government before Ottawa decided to allow TikTok to keep its Canadian operations.
But the spy agency says Canadians should be cautious about their online presence.
The Liberal government said Monday it will allow TikTok to continue operating in Canada now that it has more security guarantees from the social media company to protect Canadians’ data.
The government said the decision followed an assessment that included advice from Canada’s security and intelligence community.
A spokesperson for CSIS didn’t respond directly when asked what advice the service gave to the government, or what needs to be in place to ensure Canada’s national security.
But in a media statement, the agency said it encourages Canadians to proceed cautiously online and to do their own research on data collection before joining new social media platforms.

A Canadian Coast Guard captain who lost his job after he was accused of ignoring a distress call has lost a Federal Labour Relations Board grievance he filed to protest his firing.
Louis Callaghan was the captain of a Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) ship patrolling the coast of Prince Edward Island on May 13, 2024, when a fishing vessel ran aground in nearby Malpeque Harbour, and was taking on water, adjudicator Christopher Rootham of the Federal Public Sector Labour Relations and Employment Board noted in the Jan. 30 decision.
Another fishing boat tried to help the sinking vessel and made a mayday call at 8:26 a.m. The call lasted about three minutes, then a second message was broadcast at 8:33 a.m. The CCG ship’s log show it was about 6.27 nautical miles (11.6 kilometres) from the entrance to Malpeque Harbour.
According to the decision, Callaghan said he didn’t hear the first mayday call, but his three crew members testified that they had heard it and Callaghan did too. Continue…

Congolese man who worked for notorious intelligence agency stayed in Canada for 8 years after refugee claim

A federal court in Quebec refused to halt the deportation of a Congolese man who spent more than eight years in Canada while his failed refugee application worked its way through the appeal system despite his ties to the African nation’s notorious intelligence agency.
Godefroid Masusu Gupa worked for the Agence nationale de renseignement (ANR), a counter-espionage group in the Democratic Republic of Congo with a track record of human rights abuses, between 1987 and 2017. He rose through the ranks over the decades, becoming the “second assistant director of the counter-espionage division” as the organization established a reputation for widespread human rights violations.
“It is not in dispute that during this period, the ANR committed arbitrary arrests, extrajudicial executions and torture, which amounted to crimes against humanity,” Justice Sébastien Grammond said in a ruling published in January.
Gupa filed his Basis of Claim (BOC) requesting refugee status in Canada in December 2017, shortly after arriving in Montreal for an official trip as an ANR representative. His application was rejected by the Refugee Protection Division. He challenged the ruling before the Refugee Appeal Division, but lost in November 2021. Despite the setbacks, Gupa persisted with a judicial review of the previous rulings. In February 2023, the federal court defended the earlier judgments, but Gupa’s legal battle did not end there. Canadian passport holds on to seventh spot in international mobility ranking

The Canadian passport has retained a spot in the top 10 of an annual international mobility ranking of passports.
This year it remains at seven, a ranking it shares with six other countries whose passports open 182 doors without a visa.
The Henley Passport Index says it collects exclusive passport data from the International Air Transport Authority. It compares 199 passports and 227 destinations.
“Updated monthly, the Henley Passport Index is considered the standard reference tool for global citizens and sovereign states when assessing where a passport ranks on the global mobility spectrum,” according to the Index’s site.
This year, Canada shares seventh spot with Australia, Czechia, Latvia, New Zealand, Slovakia and Slovenia. Canadians now have visa-free access to 182 countries, up from 181 in January, having received a recent passport boost from China.
In 2016, Canada sat at ninth, then bounced back and forth between eighth and seventh through to this year. Continue…

“I’m working with Governor Gretchen Whitmer on trying to save The Great Lakes from the rather violent and destructive Asian Carp, which is rapidly taking over Lake Michigan, and all of the beautiful surrounds,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social on Tuesday, referencing the governor of Michigan.
