President Joe Biden has violated the US Constitution and ought to be impeached for permitting Ukraine to fire American-supplied long-range missiles into Russia, Congressman Thomas Massie has said.

Multiple US outlets reported over the weekend that Biden had lifted the restrictions on Kiev’s use of US-supplied rockets. While the White House has neither confirmed nor denied the news officially, a volley of missiles was fired at Russia’s Bryansk Region early on Tuesday.

“By authorizing long range missiles to strike inside Russia, Biden is committing an unconstitutional Act of War that endangers the lives of all US citizens,” Massie, a Republican from Kentucky, posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday.

Ukrainian medical university lecturer resigns over language law

The neurosurgeon had been reported to authorities for using “Russian words”

A neurosurgeon teaching at Ivano-Frankovsk National Medical University in western Ukraine has resigned after one of the students reported him for delivering lectures in Russian, the university has said on its website.

The incident comes as Kiev embarks on a full-scale “Ukrainization” campaign after the government adopted new legislation allowing for more comprehensive Russian language bans throughout the country.

Earlier this month, Taras Kremen, who serves as the country’s commissioner for the protection of the state language, reportedly authorized an inspection on the use of the Ukrainian language at the medical university. According to him, a fifth-year student, Denis Dudko, complained about a teacher at the department of neurology and neurosurgery “who conducted classes in a non-state language.”

"He was still operating even though he was on release for the same charges," a retired police investigator said.

It has been revealed that the Trudeau government gave a new passport to an admitted human smuggler after a court ordered him to surrender his former travel documents in 2021, per CBC News. RCMP officers discovered the new travel document when they were searching the Montreal home of Thesingarasan Rasiah in order to investigate allegations that he was heading a human smuggling network.

In June 2023, Rasiah was his home while he awaited sentencing with an ankle monitor. He pleaded guilty to one count of violating the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act in February 2023 after heling to smuggle a Sri Lankan national into Canada a couple years prior.

In order to be released from police custody in 2021, Rasiah had to surrender his passport to the RCMP and was under court orders not to apply for a new passport. Police charged Rasiah on Apr. 1, 2021, after he was apprehended in a Cornwall, ON parking lot while picking up a Sri Lankan national. Rasiah received a 15-month jail sentence in September 2023.

The RCMP arrested the man again in May 2024 and charged with leading an international smuggling ring that has allowed hundreds of people to illegally move across the Canada-US border, sometimes heading south and other times coming north. Rasiah is still in police custody.

Investigators connected Rasiah's activities to the deaths of nine people on the St. Lawrence River in late March 2023. The group drowned with a guide when stormy waters threw them into the water while they were trying to illegally enter the US.

Rasiah’s new passport was issued on Apr. 11, 2023, immediately after the drownings on the St. Lawrence, CBC noted. Matthew Eamer, who was formerly a with the OPP and investigated Rasiah’s movements for three years, said the admitted human smuggler continued his illegal work even while awaiting his sentence for the 2021 conviction. "He was still operating even though he was on release for the same charges," Eamer told the CBC.

The Chinese vessel Yi Peng has been flagged as a possible cable culprit and at time of writing was forcibly moored in Denmark. This is likely to prompt a strong Chinese diplomatic response; and perhaps an EU one if it proves a Chinese ship damaged key seafloor infrastructure (again: this also happened to a gas pipeline between Finland and Estonia in October 2023).

Russian war correspondents have confirmed that "A missile’s flight was heard over Kursk. There’s information about a Storm Shadow attack near Rylsk." While the extent of damage or precise targets is unclear, sources on the ground say that up to a dozen Storm Shadows were fired:

Quebec Premier François Legault announced that he will be deploying the Sûreté du Québec to begin patrolling the border with the United States to prevent a potential onslaught of illegal immigrants from entering Canada.

Construction of the East Route mega pipeline to supply Russian natural gas from Siberia to eastern China has been completed, CCTV reported this week, citing the project’s operator PipeChina.

According to the report, the 5,111 km cross-border pipeline is now entering its final commissioning phase and will soon be fully operational. The southernmost section, linking the coastal province of Jiangsu with Shanghai is complete.

The pipeline enters China via the border city of Heihe in northeastern Heilongjiang Province, and runs through nine provincial regions, supplying natural gas to areas along the route, including Beijing, Shanghai, and Tianjin.

Once fully operational, the pipeline will supply 38 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year, enough to meet the annual gas demands of 130 million urban households, CCTV reported. Continue…

Surrey RCMP announces one of the largest drug seizures in its history

In what authorities are calling one of the largest drug busts in its history, the Surrey RCMP has seized a significant haul of illicit drugs, firearms, and other contraband following a yearlong investigation by its Drug Unit.

The investigation, launched in June 2023, targeted a criminal group involved in trafficking high-potency drugs and illegal firearms throughout the Lower Mainland.

Over the course of the operation, officers executed seven search warrants in Surrey, Coquitlam, New Westminster, Vancouver, and Richmond, yielding a massive trove of evidence.

Seized items included:

36.4 kilograms of fentanyl

23 kilograms of MDMA

20.4 kilograms of cocaine

23 kilograms of methamphetamine

Various prescription and counterfeit pills, including oxycodone, benzodiazepines, and others

6 prohibited firearms, including two ghost guns and four smuggled firearms

Ammunition, body armor, and three high-value vehicles

Police also confiscated $119,000 in cash and precursor chemicals such as caffeine and phenacetin.

Three suspects, aged 24 to 47, have been arrested in connection with the operation. Charges are pending with the Public Prosecution Services of Canada.

“The totality of drugs seized in this investigation was significant and will disrupt the drug trade in Surrey,” said Officer in Charge Assistant Commissioner Brian Edwards.

“I am extremely proud of our officers’ dedication to duty and passion to investigate the high-level drug traffickers who are harming our community.”

The operation involved support from multiple agencies, including New Westminster Police, Richmond RCMP, the Vancouver Police Department Emergency Response Team, and others.

Cost of federal bureaucracy surges 73% during Trudeau’s tenure: PBO

The cost of the federal bureaucracy under Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is continuing to climb, reaching nearly $70 billion annually amid a ballooning public sector. Despite the increased costs, performance from bureaucrats has not risen accordingly.

A report issued Wednesday by the Parliamentary Budget Officer revealed that taxpayers are paying $69.5 billion for federal personnel spending in 2023-24.

The year after Trudeau took office, 2016-17, taxpayers paid $40.2 billion for federal bureaucracy, meaning the costs have since increased by 72.9% during that timeframe.

Harper to head Alberta Crown corporation in charge of investment, pensions

Former prime minister Stephen Harper was officially appointed as the Chairman of the Board of the Alberta Investment Management Corporation on Wednesday.

The finance ministry previously told True North that it would officially announce the new chair within a few weeks.

While Harper was rumoured to become the next chair, it was alleged that he had existing conflicts of interest that needed to be addressed before officially taking the position.

Alberta Premier Danielle Smith was thankful that Harper accepted the position.

“Our ambitious goal of building the Heritage Savings Trust Fund to more than $250 billion in the next 25 years requires strong governance oversight, which he will provide. His appointment, and that of the rest of the board, are a strong step forward in giving all Albertans confidence in the long-term sustainability and success of AIMCo,” said Smith in a recent statement.

Harper said he would be chairing the board for free because he believes “it is a meaningful act of public service to my adopted home province of the last 46 years.”

He added that he accepted the role because he wants to see AIMCo further embody the values of professional operations, upstanding ethics, and prudent risk management.

Associate Judge Catherine Coughlan rejected a lawsuit from more than 300 past and current members of the Canadian military who lost their jobs or were put on leave for not taking the experimental, dangerous COVID shots.

A Canadian federal judge has thrown out a lawsuit filed on behalf of some 330 past and current members of the nation’s military who lost their jobs or were placed on leave for refusing the experimental COVID shots, because she alleged that their lawsuit lacked “evidence” that the jabs were harmful.

The Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members had sought some $1.3 million in damages from the government for having their charter rights violated due to the military’s 2021 COVID mandates, according to their lawsuit.

In a November 13 ruling, Edmonton-based Associate Judge Catherine Coughlan ruled in favor of the Trudeau government, and thus military’s COVID jab mandate, to strike down the case. Coughlan remarked that the plaintiffs’ case lacked “material facts” along with “evidence” and was filled with “vexatious language.”

“The only indications of bad faith are found when the pleadings baldly assert that, among other claims, Canada failed to carry out safety and efficacy testing for the vaccines, and that the Directives were premature and ‘promoted the fraudulent use of the biologics’,” she wrote, overlooking reports of thousands of injuries due to the shots in Canada alone.

As a result of the lawsuit being tossed, all plaintiffs are now on the hook to pay some $5,040 out of pocket in legal costs.
