Working a missing person situation out of California. (I don't know what I am looking at currently…to be transparent. Need backup)

Just received information this evening my friend went missing 2 days ago apparently. This guy is rock solid light. Always balanced and level headed. Always. Managed many bard and restaurants. Stands about 5'7 165-170 White beard. Surfer usually a pony tail blond lighter hair .Can handle himself gracefully in all situations. Were are talking a person always leading with the heart Solid person in all situations. Story I am getting makes no sense. A close friend in our circle saw him two weeks ago and they made plans for the summer. No signs of depression suicide etc.

The story I was told he left a message (not sure text or written yet) was depressed suicidal basically and was going to go out surfing and not come back. (LA So Cal Area Nothing confirmed) Truck not located 2003 Black Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 larger tires with a lift with Nice light weight camper topper has a pop top roof type setup. He likes to surf and camp with this vehicle. Phone last reported ping near was near Joshua Tree. Currently PRIVATE air searches are being conducted in that area. (paid by wifes family)

A lot of unknowns I am looking at but wanted to put this out there if anyone spots matching this description. No plate yet still sourcing all details.

Wife said no sings of depression anything…..

She is my first suspect. Comes from Cali $$$. Still working those connections. More to come on that information. Need the community on that path of findinding potentially.

Personally my gut…truck never left LA greater area. Phone was placed on another vehicle and was reporting until they hit no coverage area….diversion waste of time in wrong direction…family gave it an expensive effort to play the part.

Car and phone may have also been driven to the area … very easy to get lost and many don't find their way out its so vast in that dez. If anyone in these areas sees the vehicle or my friend please don't hesitate to report to local law enforcement. Tracking on everything/anything I can find right now. I also get that people are going though a very hard time right now and weird shit is going down. I work the PNW sector …. trust me I get it… this situation is highly suspect and unfortunately I am not in the area as of yet. I will continue to provide updates as info is confirmed.

The guy was probably dead or incapacitated by then, If he had zero signs of depression beforehand, and then leaves a message that he'll go surfing/suicidal/never come back, then 100% he was not in charge of his phone, especially since his last cell phone ping was in Joshua Tree, far far away from the nearest beach.

I live well north of L.A., and we have tons of trucks like this. Family in Cali used to run a shop that lifted trucks for people. Lifted trucks are a Cali thing, regardless of whether or not they'll actually be used for mountain driving. That description is super general and a license plate and/or photo would be needed to look for it. If this family is behind it, then I'd bet that it's either at a chop shop, or on its way to one in Mexico or out of state.
