Scandal Plagued Fulton County DA Fani Willis Subpoenaed By GOP House Judiciary Committee

Fulton County DA Fani Willis is in the midst of yet another scandal. The House GOP Judiciary Committee subpoenaed the embattled Fulton County DA over her misuse of federal funds. The subpoena also mentions that Willis failed to comply with a December 5th letter from the Judiciary Committee requesting that Ms. Willis provide communication between her and the January 6 Select Committee. J6 Committee Member Jamie Raskin responded to Loomer Unleashed’s question about the J6 Committee deleting their files and communications with, “I have no idea what you’re talking about.” In November, Willis refused to answer Loomer Unleashed regarding her coordination with the Biden White House on Trump’s arrest in Fulton County. The Left’s lies on J6 are bubbling up to the surface.

The subpoena to Willis mentions the disturbing fact that Fulton County received a federal grant of $488,000 earmarked for gang prevention. Instead of spending these funds on gang prevention, Willis “sought to use the grant funds to ‘get Macbooks,.. swag, … (and] use it for travel.’ Moreover, the whistleblower’s direct supervisor stated that these planned expenditures *were part of [your] vision.”

Also mentioned in the subpoena is that Willis has refused to cooperate on a December 5th letter from the House Judiciary Committee asking for “documents relating to the investigative coordination between your office and the partisan January 6 Select Committee.”

On December 5th, the House Sub Committee on Oversight wrote to J6 Committee Chair Bennie Thompson, “According to public reporting, the Select Committee shared records with Ms. Willis. The Select Committee provided ‘Fulton County prosecutors…key evidence about what former President Trump and his top advisers knew’ with respect to Georgia’s 2020 election results.5 However, there are no records of any additional communication between the Select Committee and Ms. Willis and her office. Therefore, we have no records showing what the Select Committee actually provided her office.”

On December 13th, just days after the December 5th letters, Loomer Unleashed asked J6 Committee Member Jamie Raskin about the committee’s deletion of files. Raskin denied they deleted files and even attempted to use Liz Cheney as a reference to prove that nothing was deleted. He then accused Loomer Unleashed of working directly for President Trump.

Wade additionally declared in the affidavit attached to Willis's filing:

"I have no financial interest in the outcome of the 2020 election interference case or in the conviction of any defendant."

"No funds paid to me in compensation for my role as Special Prosecutor have been shared with or provided to District Attorney Willis."

"The District Attorney received no funds or personal financial gain from my position as Special Prosecutor."

"I have never cohabitated with District Attorney Willis."

"I have never shared household expenses with District Attorney Willis."

"I have never shared a joint financial account of any kind with District Attorney Willis."

Willis similarly claimed:

"There are no joint or shared finances or financial accounts."

"There is not now and has never been any shared household."

"There is no financial dependency or merging of daily expenses."

"Financial responsibility for personal travel taken is divided roughly evenly between the two, with neither being primarily responsible for expenses of the other, and all expenses paid for with individual personal funds."

"Both are professionals with substantial income; neither is financially reliant on the other."

Trump co-defendant Michael Roman first revealed the "clandestine" fling in an explosive motion to get the grand jury indictment dismissed as "fatally defective." Roman accused Willis and Wade of "profiting significantly from this prosecution at the expense of the taxpayers" by taking "vacations across the world" together—trips that were paid for by Wade, whose law firm has raked in over $654,000 in income for his taxpayer-funded work with the Trump prosecution team. Wade, a private-practice attorney with scant experience prosecuting criminal cases, is currently charging the county $250 per hour in legal fees. Damning divorce documents bolstered the claims, uncovering Wade's credit card statements that document the pair's travel expenses.

Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee, who is presiding over the case, has scheduled an upcoming February 15 evidentiary hearing on the accusations. Roman's defense attorney Ashleigh Merchant has since subpoenaed Willis and Wade to testify about the affair as well as sent subpoenas seeking testimony from a laundry list of Willis staffers and Wade associates.

She's additionally requesting receipts from travel agencies and financial records from several banks tied to Wade's finances.

Trump attorney Steve Sadow said in a press statement Friday that Willis's response "asks the Court to turn a blind eye to her alleged personal and financial misconduct." Sadow stated: "Such hubris for all to see. Nothing has changed. Our requested remedy remains clear: dismiss the case and disqualify the DA, together with her team and office, from any related matters."

Washington’s latest airstrikes began around midnight Baghdad time on Saturday and hit more than 85 targets in Syria and Iraq, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a statement. The operation involved “numerous aircraft,” including long-range bombers flown from the US, which dropped over 125 precision munitions on their targets.

Those targets included command and control centers, intelligence sites, weapons caches, and supply-chain facilities of Iranian-backed militias, as well as “their IRGC sponsors who facilitated attacks against US and coalition forces,” CENTCOM said.

The bombings follow a series of assaults on American military bases in the Middle East, including a drone attack that killed three American soldiers and wounded more than 40 others at secretive US installation in Jordan. That base, called Tower 22, is located near the Syrian and Iraqi borders.

The attack on Tower 22 was “planned, resourced and facilitated” by the Islamic Resistance in Iraq, White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said on Wednesday. The group consists of multiple militias, including Kataib Hezbollah, which has launched multiple rocket and drone strikes against US forces in the region since the Israel-Hamas war began in October.

Kirby suggested that the US response would be carried out over multiple days. It “won’t just be a one-off,” he said. “As I said, the first thing you see will not be the last thing.” He added that Biden is still trying to avoid a broader war with Iran.

Media reports in recent days raised concern that Biden was telegraphing his plans and giving the militias too much time to take preparatory steps, such as vacating obvious targets. Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin tried to deflect those worries on Friday, denying that the administration was giving Iran too much warning. He said the US response will be “multi-tiered” and insisted that neither he nor Biden would tolerate attacks on American troops.

Biden has blamed Iran for supplying the weapons that Islamic militants have used in attacking US forces in the Middle East more than 150 times since the Israel-Hamas war started. He has faced political pressure to respond aggressively, including calls by Republican lawmakers to launch devastating strikes inside Iran.

The IRGC’s Quds Force is an elite unit that specializes in guerilla warfare and intelligence-gathering outside Iran. It has sought to drive American forces out of neighboring Iraq since the US invasion in 2003.

US regulators propose robocall ban after ‘voter suppression’ scam

Unknown culprits faked President Joe Biden’s voice in a bid to disrupt the New Hampshire primary election

The US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has said that it will ban AI-generated scam “robocalls” after New Hampshire residents received calls from a computer-generated Joe Biden urging them to sit out the state’s Democratic primary election.

In a statement released on Wednesday, FCC Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel said that she will instruct her agency to recognize calls made with AI-generated voices as “artificial,” thereby subjecting them to the same rules that already govern pre-recorded “robocalls.”

Under the FCC’s Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), telemarketers must obtain prior consent from consumers before calling them with “artificial” messages. Should AI-generated voices be classed as “artificial,” state attorneys general could prosecute the companies or organizations responsible.

“AI-generated voice cloning and images are already sowing confusion by tricking consumers into thinking scams and frauds are legitimate,” Rosenworcel said. “No matter what celebrity or politician you favor, or what your relationship is with your kin when they call for help, it is possible we could all be a target of these faked calls.”

Although Rosenworcel did not mention the incident, her statement came less than two weeks after voters in New Hampshire received calls from a voice impersonating President Joe Biden. In the recording ‘Biden’ tells voters to “save” their votes and not go to the polls during the primary.

“It’s important that you save your vote for the November election. We’ll need your help in electing Democrats up and down the ticket,” the AI-voiced message said. “Voting this Tuesday only enables Republicans in their quest to elect Donald Trump again.”

It remains unclear who was behind the calls, which New Hampshire Attorney General John Formella called “an unlawful attempt to disrupt the New Hampshire Presidential Primary Election and to suppress New Hampshire voters.”

Researchers said last week that the culprits likely spoofed Biden’s voice using software from a voice-cloning startup called ElevenLabs. The company’s safety policy states that users usually do not need to seek permission to clone a public official’s voice for “political speech contributing to public debates.”

Polish farmers announce Ukrainian border blockade

Brussels’ position on cheap imports is unacceptable, the Solidarity trade union declared

Polish farmers will block border crossings with Ukraine during a general strike planned for next week, the Solidarity trade union announced on Thursday.

In addition to making Ukrainian crossings impassable, the union plans intermittent road blockades across Poland to last through March 10, it said.

“Our patience has run out. Brussels’ position on the last day of January 2024 is unacceptable for our entire agricultural community,” the union said in a statement, referring to Thursday’s EU summit, which was loudly protested by farmers from across the bloc.

“The inaction of the Polish authorities and plans to cooperate with the European Commission and respect all its decisions regarding the import of agricultural products and food from Ukraine leave us no choice but to announce a general strike,” Solidarity added. It requested that Polish citizens respect the union’s struggle for what it framed as the “common good” of the nation.

Farmers across Germany, France, the Netherlands, and many other EU countries have turned out to protest in recent weeks, citing the bloc’s “green” climate policies targeting agricultural producers with price hikes on fuel, as well as the cheap Ukrainian imports flooding their domestic markets.

They converged on Brussels with over 1,300 tractors during the EU summit this week, throwing eggs, rocks, and fireworks at the EU Parliament building and setting huge piles of manure on fire.

The European Commission outraged farmers with its proposal on Thursday to extend the suspension of customs duties on agricultural goods from Ukraine and Moldova through 2025. Brussels had initially justified dropping the tariff in 2022 as a means of supporting Kiev during the conflict with Russia, and the suspension was previously scheduled to expire this year.

Polish farmers initially took to the streets last year to protest the cheap Ukrainian imports that have driven prices down and imperiled their livelihoods. Along with Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, and Slovakia, Poland moved to ban imports of Ukrainian grain in May.

A separate protest by another group of farmers and truckers blocking a key border crossing with Ukraine ended earlier this month when Warsaw capitulated to the protesters’ demands, which included reinstating a permit system for Ukrainian truckers, adopting government subsidies for Polish corn, and a moratorium on tax hikes.

After weeks of farmer protests across Europe, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen held a “strategic dialogue” with community and business leaders in Brussels last week in an effort to find “common and lasting solutions” for European agriculture. However, critics highlighted a lack of farmer representation at the meeting.

Fulton County District Attorney FaniWillis filed a lengthy response to the allegations lodged by Trump co-defendants, arguing no evidentiary hearing should be held in response to the defendants’ “salacious” allegations in the “meritless” motions to dismiss the high-profile election case. In the 176-page filing, Ms. Willis affirms that she and special prosecutor Nathan Wade have had a personal relationship, and rejects the claim of a conflict of interest that would disqualify Ms. Willis or Mr. Wade from the case.

Mr. Wade has played a leading role in the election case and also led the special purpose grand jury proceedings that led to the indictment last year.Ms. Willis, Mr. Wade, and Mr. Wade’s current and former law partners, as well as eight employees from Ms. Willis’s team, have been subpoenaed to testify at the Feb. 15 hearing, after which a judge will determine whether the district attorney should be disqualified and removed from the case.

Co-defendant Michael Roman, a GOP strategist who participated in the 2020 Trump campaign, first made the allegations in a motion to dismiss the indictment and disqualify the district attorney on Jan. 8. Defendants Robert Cheeley, an attorney, and former President Donald Trump later joined the motion.

Mr. Roman alleged Ms. Willis used public funding improperly, including pulling funds meant to clear COVID-era backlogs to pursue the racketeering case and personally benefitting financially through hiring an attorney, Mr. Wade, as special prosecutor, when she had a romantic extramarital affair with him and that the two took multiple “lavish” vacations together. His attorney also cited reports that Ms. Willis contracted publicity services shortly before the indictment to track media mentions.

He had argued that an alleged pattern of financial misconduct and financial conflict of interest disqualified Ms. Willis and her team, and therefore the indictment should be dismissed. The district attorney is arguing that there is no basis for disqualification, as she paid for Mr. Wade’s travel expenses as well, defended her statements about race, and pushed to cancel the upcoming hearing.

Subpoenas Ahead of Feb. 15 Hearing

The subpoenas arose out of an ability to obtain material needed to prepare Mr. Roman’s defense, according to a lawsuit filed by his attorney Ashleigh Merchant. The district attorney is arguing that thesubpoenas amount to an “incredibly inappropriate” intrusioninto opposing counsel’s personal life, noting that a lawyer who represented Mr. Wade in his divorce case was among those subpoenaed to testify.

With the vast number of witnesses, the district attorney is accusing defendants of setting up a “circus” of a hearing “that would last days, garner more breathless media coverage, and intrude further into the personal lives of the prosecution team in an effort to embarrass and harass the district attorney personally.” The prosecutors stated their intention to quash the subpoenas and asked the court to deny the motion “without further spectacle,” including canceling any hearing on the matter. Attorney Explains Relationship

The response includes a sworn affidavit by Mr. Wade, in which he explains that he met Ms. Willis in 2019 in a professional capacity, and it wasn’t until 2022 that they had a “personal relationship.” In 2020, he served on Ms. Willis’s transition team, and in the spring of 2021, he was hired as to help hire an attorney to lead the investigation into the 2020 elections.

He states that the $250 rate was the highest the district attorney’s office was able to offer, and it was “significantly less” than market rate; he had charged $550 per hour for a previous government job.. in September 2021 he was approached with the special prosecutor position.==

Thedistrict attorney argued that the jury questioning process will evaluate whether prospective jurors have been impacted by public statements, and therefore the motion should be dismissed.
