About five years ago the only pharmacy in my small town in rural Virginia closed. A year or so later a second county drugstore failed. Soon the owner of the last remaining drugstore in the county was unable to make a profit and had to sell. (These last two managed to reopen at a later date.) I was unaware the loss of our drugstores was a nationwide trend until reading an article by Karen Kerrigan, president and CEO of the Small Business & Entrepreneurship Council. She reported that mom-and-pop drugstores in rural areas were particularly hard hit, leaving about 630 rural communities with no pharmacy by 2018.

Without congressional approval, the president cannot deploy troops. Check.However, presidents have a trump card – the 1973 War Powers Act.Under 50 U.S. Code § 1541 - Purpose and policy section C states:

When I was in boot camp I was told, ‘If the president wants a Marine to protect a Wendy’s overseas, there would be a Marine there within 24 hours.’ There is some truth in that joke. It wasn’t long after the War Powers Act went into effect that presidents used their new power to protect the weak and defeat the strong. There is a fine legal line that the president must walk but thankfully it is clearly defined as Low-Intensity conflict.

On the other hand, military operations that fall below this point would be considered LIC, and under a theory of presidential prerogative, would not be subject to such a constitutional restriction in the absence of specific legislation. – PRESIDENTIAL PREROGATIVE UNDER THE CONSTITUTION TO DEPLOY U.S. MILITARY FORCES IN LOW-INTENSITY CONFLICT, MARK T. So, now we’ve established that the president does have the power to deploy troops but nowhere does it specifically say Marines are the force for these deployments. Technically the president can send any branch he wants.

Legally, yes, the President can now deploy whatever forces he wants instead of the Marines, but in practice that simply doesn't happen, except for small actions by small, covert SOCOM teams, and stuff like that. Whenever it is determined that an actual military task force needs to put boots on the ground somewhere and establish an American military presence, the Marines are still the go-to. This is especially true in “flash-points” around the globe, when unstable situations develop quickly and without much warning. – Sgt. Mitch Carroll USMC

Vice’s Refinery29 and BuzzFeed’s Tasty Are Up for Sale as Digital Media Contracts

BuzzFeed and Vice Media, two onetime darlings of digital media that have shrunk in size and relevance in recent years, are likely to get even smaller.

BuzzFeed, whose stock has lost more than 97% of its value since the company went public in 2021, is looking to sell its food sites, Tasty and First We Feast, according to people familiar with the situation. Meanwhile, Fortress Investment Group, which took over Vice in bankruptcy last year, is in talks to sell its Refinery29 women’s lifestyle-focused site, other people said.

The sale discussions mark yet another chapter in the demise of these digital-media companies that raised money at sky-high valuations nearly a decade ago only to struggle amid a volatile ad market and a decline in traffic sourced from Google and social-media sites.

Vice and BuzzFeed declined to comment.

Fortress is in talks to sell Refinery29 after a failed attempt to find a buyer for Vice in its entirety, which includes its namesake news brand, production studio and creative agency, among other assets. FBI Seizures From Safe Deposit Boxes Violated US Constitution: Federal Court

The FBI’s seizure of contents from safe deposit boxes during a raid on a Beverly Hills vault in 2021 violated the U.S. Constitution, a federal appeals court ruled on Jan. 23.

Agents raided U.S. Private Vaults, a business that allowed people to rent safe deposit boxes anonymously, based on the belief that criminals were using the service. The search warrant stated that agents could only open the boxes to inventory their contents and identify the owners for the return of their property.

However, agents brought drug-sniffing dogs and planned to set aside cash worth more than $5,000, with the intent to seize the money.

When people who rented boxes asked the FBI for their belongings back after the raid, the bureau refused, saying it was going to file for forfeiture or transfer ownership to the government. The renters of the boxes then sued.

A U.S. district judge previously ruled in favor of the government, finding the search was covered by what’s known as an inventory exception to the requirement for a warrant in the U.S. Constitution’s Fourth Amendment.

That exception, though, doesn’t apply to the raid on U.S. Private Vaults, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit ruled.

The ruling hinged largely on how the exception requires searches to operate on standardized instructions and highlighted how the FBI, in the Beverly Hills raid, used supplemental, customized instructions.

“Once the government begins adding a set of ‘customized’ instructions to a ’standardized‘ inventory policy—particularly the type of custom instructions presented by this case—the entire search stops being conducted pursuant to a ’standardized’ policy,” U.S. Circuit Judge Milan D. Smith Jr. wrote in the ruling.

Rather than disproving the report, The New York Times just calls me names.

Shouldn't people hear both sides of the debate to decide what's true?

Isn't that better than those in power labeling anything against their narrative as misinformation and censoring it?

Doesn't that show labeling things as misinformation is more about controlling the narrative than the truth?

I've written over sixty articles, made thousands of social media posts, and got billions of online views in the last three years, and I've never promoted qanon.

Yet Media Matters called me a qanon influencer, so all other garbage media outlets repeat their claim.

Their evidence?

I shared a JFK speech, and the video creator wrote the hashtag #WWG1WGA on it, even though the video had nothing to do with qanon.

It was a JFK speech.

They also say I'm a qanon influencer because I shared posts to a Telegram page with over 50 people, some of whom promoted qanon.

I can't control what other people write on the internet.

That's also how Telegram works.

I shared my post to a handful of channels, and others shared theirs.

I'm not responsible for the content others post.

But this is how the game is played.

Media Matters accuses me of being a qanon influencer.

Then, the ADL publishes a negative story, also labeling me a qanon influencer, citing Media Matters.

Subsequently, Business Insider attacks Elon Musk for engaging with a supposed qanon influencer, citing Media Matters and the ADL.

Following suit, Forbes claims qanon influencers are gaining traction on X, referencing Business Insider.

The Washington Post, the New York Times, and other media outlets then cite Forbes and Business Insider, perpetuating the narrative even though the original claim is based on Media Matters' garbage.

In reality, the corporate media uses personal attacks, guilt by association, and other tactics to discredit anyone who opposes the political establishment.

It's propaganda, not journalism. 😂😂

And the propaganda machine fears that this social media platform is leveling the playing field.

Rightfully so, this post will probably get more views than their New York Times article.

Tattoo depicts a red-eyed skull wearing a bandana with the letters “O.S.S.” (Operation Safe Streets Bureau) and holding a revolver next to an ace of spades and an 8 of spades, the so-called “dead man’s hand” in poker. In 2012, LASD management obtained a pamphlet that states a “black book” containing all member information and dates of shootings be kept “off site.”

Banditos – East L.A. Station. Tattoo depicts a skeleton with a bushy mustache wearing a sombrero and bandolier, and holding a pistol. According to the report: “They regularly use gang slang, such as referring to longtime members as ‘OGs’ and passing on information that they ‘heard on the yard.’ Banditos leaders refer to themselves as ‘shot callers,’ a term borrowed from the leaders of prison gangs.”

Executioners – Compton Station. Tattoo depicts a skull wearing a Nazi helmet with “CPT” on front and rifle encircled by flames that is sequentially numbered. Deputy Austreberto Gonzalez, who has filed a civil rights lawsuit against the department, said in a recent deposition that the Executioners are a “violent gang” that dominates the station and that has assaulted other deputies.

Vikings – Lynwood Station (now closed). Tattoo depicted a Viking head, sometimes with the number “998,” which is the radio code for “officer-involved shooting.” In 1990, U.S. District Judge Terry Hatter characterized the Vikings as “a neo-Nazi, white supremacist gang” that operated under leaders who “tacitly authorize deputies’ unconstitutional behavior.”
