Plaintiff Russell-Jay: Gould has paid a $150 filing fee and filed a number of documents apparently intended to constitute a proposed civil complaint. Upon review of plaintiff's complaint, I conclude that it should be dismissed forthwith on the court's own motion for lack of subject matter jurisdiction.

A district court may dismiss a complaint for lack of subject matter jurisdiction on its own motion where the claims are "so insubstantial, implausible, foreclosed by prior decisions of [the United States Supreme Court], or otherwise completely devoid of merit as not to involve a federal controversy." Steel Company v. Citizens for a Better Environment, 118 S.Ct. 1003, 1010 (1998) (citing Oneida Indian Nation of N.Y. v. County of Oneida, 414 U.S. 661, 666 (1974)).

In what appears to be the primary pleading captioned "GLOBAL-POSTAL-UNION-TREATY. FOR THIS CLAIM OF THIS MARRIAGE-UNION IS WITH THIS TREATY OF THIS FEE WITH THIS TERRITORY OF THIS NORTH-CAROLINA, DI-STRICT OF THE COLUMBIA AND DI-STRICT-COURT/PORT WITH THESE UNITY-STATES OF OUR WORLD, plaintiff makes nonsensical conclusory statements. There are no factual allegations from which an inference might be drawn that plaintiff's rights have been violated under federal law or the United States Constitution, or that plaintiffs' rights under state law have been violated by defendants who reside in a state other than the same state in which the plaintiff resides. Indeed, there are no factual allegations at all.

Because nothing in plaintiffs' pleading permits an inference to be drawn that there exists a case or controversy over which this court might have jurisdiction, the complaint will be dismissed on the court's own motion for lack of jurisdiction.

Proving they remain infected by a fact-resistant virus, most members of the self-proclaimed smart set are once again horrified by GOP voters. How can it be that their fellow Americans remain so stupid after they’ve repeatedly explained Trump’s flaws? Why do voters refuse to listen to their media masters?

The New York Times certainly doesn’t have any qualms about looking down on middle America and the people who live there.

“The responsibility of Republican voters,” it declared in a Sunday editorial, is “to nominate a candidate who is fit to serve as president.”

Trump, the Gray Lady insisted, “is manifestly unworthy.”

This is the same Times that, after the 2016 election, apologized to readers because its reporters and editors underestimated Trump’s appeal. This time the paper sees the appeal, but refuses to recognize it as anything other than a mass movement of the ignorant.

Not that it would matter because the Times hasn’t endorsed a Republican for president since Dwight Eisenhower in 1956. Regardless of whom GOP voters nominate, the paper will support the Democrat, even if it’s a dead raccoon — or Joe Biden.

It just wants a different Republican to beat up on because it fears Trump will win.

Regarding the Iowa caucuses. Johnson county is a heavy liberal area because of Iowa City and the University of Iowa. It would be pretty easy to bribe students to vote for anyone but Trump. Probably why it was the only county to go to Haley.

Portland seeks emergency funding

The troubled port of Portland has requested state funding from the Oregon legislature of $10m to cover losses. The port’s Terminal 6 container facility has lost its client base in recent years and faces a projected loss of $14m this year.

The port’s executive director Curtis Robinhold warned in a letter to Oregon politicians: “Without other funding to offset ongoing losses associated with container operations, we will be forced to begin conversations about ending container service at T6.”

Manila-headquartered International Container Terminal Services, Inc (ICTSI) originally signed a 25-year deal with Portland back in 2010, paying $4.5m a year after an initial downpayment of $8m. In 2017 it quit the port with no major clients – and considerable labour issues – at its Terminal 6 facility, Oregon’s only container terminal. A court ruled later that the local chapter of the ILWU had sabotaged shipping traffic at the terminal through years of labour slowdowns and stoppages.
