TikTok Blamed for Ukraine Ammunition Shortage

Put this in the ‘how far can we stretch a narrative’ file.

According to multiple sources, Ukraine is running out of ammunition in the war against Russia. However, according to Newsweek who is pushing the message from the Nordic Ammunition Supply Company,TikTok cat videos are to blame. Yes, you read that correctly…

(Newsweek) – One of Europe’s largest ammunition manufacturers has said it’s unable to expand to meet new quotas and respond to Ukraine’s increased demand because a nearbydata center is using up all the electricityin the central Norway region to store TikTok videos.

The Norwegian group Nordic Ammunition Company, better known as Nammo, told the U.K. newspaper Financial Times that there’s no surplus of energy for its Raufoss plant, where the new factory was planned.

The electricity of the region is being used up by a data center whose bigger client is TikTok. The embattled social-media platform has come under increased scrutiny in the U.S. for its ties with China. “We are concerned because we see our future growth is challenged by the storage of cat videos,” Nammo chief executive Morten Brandtzæg told the newspaper.

Local energy provider Elvia confirmed to the Financial Times that the network has no electricity to spare, and that the energy is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Should Nammo require more energy, it will take time to make this available to the ammunition manufacturer. (read more)

Everything we know about transgender Nashville school shooter Audrey Hale

The shooter who stormed a private Christian elementary school in Nashville on Monday, killing three students and three staffers, was identified as a 28-year-old white transgender woman named Audrey Hale who once attended the school, authorities said.

The suspect — who was killed by officers — was also a Nashville resident, police said. The shooter was later identified as Hale, NBC reported.

Women make up just 2% of mass shooters across the country, according to the Violence Project database, and Monday’s shooter is just the fifth female mass shooter in US history.

A car was located near the Covenant School, where the 14-minute shooting spree took place Monday morning, and provided investigators clues as to the shooter’s identity, Metro Nashville Chief of Police John Drake said at a press conference.

“But as stated, that investigation is still ongoing,” he added.

Hale, who said they used he/him pronouns in online profiles was wielding two assault-style rifles and a pistol, was killed by responding officers when they found her on the second floor of the school.

Police said it appears Hale had previously been a student at the school but it wasn’t immediately clear when or for how long.

The school had a protocol for an active shooter, but it wasn’t immediately clear if this was put in place during the shooting. Police said at a press conference Monday afternoon Hale had entered the school through a side door by shooting at it.

Police said they received the initial call about an active shooter at 10:13 a.m. The responding officers quickly began clearing the first story of the school after hearing gunshots coming from the second floor.

The shooter was killed by cops at 10:27 a.m., officials said.

The victims were subsequently pronounced dead at the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital and Vanderbilt University Medical Center, according to police.

Officials identified the three slain students as Evelyn Dieckhaus, Hallie Scruggs, and William Kinney, all age 9.

The three faculty members killed were Cynthia Peak and Mike Hill, both 61, and school head Katherine Koonce, 60

The Covenant School is a Presbyterian school for about 200 students from preschool through sixth grade. The school has roughly 50 staff members.

CNN Accuses White Users of 'Digital Blackface' for Sharing Memes

If you’re white and like to share memes on social media, you’re probably guilty of “digital blackface,” according to CNN.

There are countless memes out there shared by people from all walks of life. But only certain people get to share the meme of Kayode Ewumi grinning and pointing to his temple, or the “Ain’t nobody got time for that!” lady, or GIFs of Stanley from The Office rolling his eyes.

“If you’re Black and you’ve shared such images online, you get a pass,” writes CNN’s John Blake. “But if you’re White, you may have inadvertently perpetuated one of the most insidious forms of contemporary racism.”

According to Blake, “you may be wearing ‘digital blackface.'”

It is easy to discount this absurd accusation as satire, but I assure you it’s not. “Digital blackface is a practice where White people co-opt online expressions of Black imagery, slang, catchphrases or culture to convey comic relief or express emotions,” write Blake, no doubt genuinely believing what he says. “These expressions, what one commentator calls racialized reactions, are mainstays in Twitter feeds, TikTok videos and Instagram reels, and are among the most popular Internet memes.”

Digital blackface involves White people play-acting at being Black, says Lauren Michele Jackson, an author and cultural critic, in an essay for Teen Vogue. Jackson says the Internet thrives on White people laughing at exaggerated displays of Blackness, reflecting a tendency among some to see “Black people as walking hyperbole.”

If you’re still not sure how to define digital blackface, Jackson offers a guide. She says it “includes displays of emotion stereotyped as excessive: so happy, so sassy, so ghetto, so loud… our dial is on 10 all the time — rarely are black characters afforded subtle traits or feelings.”

Many White people choose images of Black people when it comes to expressing exaggerated emotions on social media – a burden that Black people didn’t ask for, she says.

Blake continues by comparing white people sharing memes featuring black people to the racist blackface minstrel shows prevalent from the early 19th to the early 20th century. “Put simply,” he says, “digital blackface is 21st-century minstrelsy.”

While you’re trying to wrap your head around the absurdity of this, I can’t help but wonder how sharing memes is racist and “minstrelsy,” but Disney remaking classic films and race-swapping traditionally white characters is not.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced Monday he will delay the controversial judicial reforms that have drawn unprecedented opposition in the country, as Israel's largest trade union group launched a strike across a broad swath of sectors. The strike by the Histadrut umbrella group, which represents more than 700,000 workers in health, transit and banking, among many other fields, threatened to paralyze large parts of Israel's economy, which is already on shaky ground, as it added to the surging protests against the plan. Immediately after Netanyahu's announcement, the head of the country's largest trade union said it would call off the strike.

The left fears what they cannot control…and trust me they want total control of our lives (not just the media).

From my perspective, this is a positive article on Jack Posobiec (and Jack deserves to be recognized for his sacrifice standing up against tyranny). The bigger issue is how the media and political landscape is changing, especially in America. The American people (all of them, and not just some “far right wing fringe”) are discovering the truth from many other media platforms and from “political” candidates that don’t act political—they act in authentic and honest ways (which is what we want).

It must suck to be part of the main stream media these days knowing that you’ll need to start finding a new job and sooner than you think.
