COMEDIAN GALLAGHER DEAD AT 76

Comedian Gallagher, famously known for smashing watermelons as part of his legendary act, has died … his longtime manager tells TMZ.

Gallagher died while under hospice care in the Palm Springs area early Friday morning, TMZ has learned. His manager tells TMZ Gallagher died of massive organ failure. He had been in ill health for a while, suffering numerous heart attacks over the years.

The rep tells TMZ, "Gallagher stayed on the road touring America for decades. He was pretty sure he held a record for the most stand-up dates, by attrition alone," adding, "While Gallagher had his detractors, he was an undeniable talent and an American success story."

Gallagher started working as a comedian after college … getting his big break after appearing on Johnny Carson's 'Tonight Show' back in 1975 … showing off his prop humor and quickly becoming one of the most popular and recognizable comedians in America.

His trademark bit was the "Sledge-O-Matic," where he'd use a large mallet to destroy a bunch of foods and objects – always ending with a watermelon. While it started as a parody of the Veg-O-Matic commercials, it would go on to be what millions would remember him for.

Gallagher's since become a pop culture phenomenon, getting parodied and referenced over the years for his act … most recently being played by fellow comedian Paul F. Tompkins in "Weird: The Al Yankovic Story."

The comedian had 17 specials spanning decades of his work … with his first special, "An Uncensored Evening," debuting in 1980. He appeared in episodes of "Hollywood Squares," "WTF with Marc Maron," "Tosh.0" and "Celebrity Big Brother."

He had a health scare back in 2011, as we reported, he collapsed onstage during a performance in Minnesota. He also suffered a heart attack the following year in Texas, moments before he was supposed to perform.

We last saw the comedian back in 2014 … and he offered us some fantastic advice for those looking to get someone a gift while stuck on a budget – and it's as hilarious as you'd expect.

Gallagher, who was retired, is survived by his daughter, Aimee, and his son, Barnaby.

He was 76.

A mistake made by a poll worker in New Jersey led a judge to intervene earlier this week.

A judge in Monmouth County, N.J., ordered two voting machines to be opened following the poll worker’s error. The New Jersey Globe reported that the incident occurred in the town of Manalapan. Deputy Attorney General George Cohen noted on Thursday that the unnamed poll worker “inadvertently failed to get vote results” before sealing the machines, the Washington Examiner reported.

The AG added that the poll worker took two USB sticks from the voting machines prior to the results being fully uploaded to them. Officials said they are not sure of the official results because one stick had returns and the other did not. That led Superior Court Judge David Bauman to order Monmouth County Superintendant of Elections authority to open the machines, the report said.

Clark County Will Need Three More Days to Count 50,000 Ballots

The number of outstanding mail-in ballots has potential to grow as late as Monday

Election officials Clark County, Nevada — the state’s most populous county that includes the Las Vegas area — have stated that they will need an additional three days to count upwards of 50,000 outstanding ballots. Mail-in ballots postmarked prior to election day can be counted if they arrive as late as Saturday, meaning that Nevada does not yet have a final count on the number of outstanding ballots. The state is home to one of the nation’s most closely watched races, as Republican Senate candidate Adam Laxalt currently leads incumbent Democrat Catherine Cortez Masto in a race that could decide the balance of the U.S. Senate candidate.

Joe Gloria, Clark County’s registrar of voters, said at a press conference Thursday that a little more than 50,000 ballots still need to be counted.

“My staff has been working very diligently,” said Gloria. “We’ve been here from early in the morning until late at night. We’ve been fully staffed. We’re working as hard as we possibly can in order to get the ballots counted, but whether we like it or not there’s no way that we can move any faster than we’re currently moving.”

He added that the outstanding votes all represent mail-in ballots, which require election officials to individually match voters’ signatures on those ballots to the state’s records under Nevada election law. This, Gloria says, creates a multi-step that is slowing down the count.

The Clark County Elections department has sent out roughly 10,000 letters notifying mail-in voters whose ballots were either missing a signature or didn’t match their registration profile. Included in the in the letter is a set of instructions for voters to correct the issue and “cure” their ballots, which they will be able to do until 5 p.m. on Monday.

About 7,100 still had not been resolved as of Thursday, Gloria said.

This could further inflate the number of mail-in ballots that need to be counted, which heavily tilt Democrat. In addition, the state began the process in 2021 of mailing ballots to every registered voter in the state. Mail-in ballots that arrive after Election Day can be counted if they arrive until Saturday so long as they were postmarked prior to Tuesday, November 8.

As Clark County officials state that it will take four additional days to count the ballots, Republicans have questioned how the process could take so long when larger states and even nations complete much larger counts in a shorter amount of time.

“How come Florida w/ population of 22 million can get same day election results and Arizona w/ population of 7 million can’t?” said Newsmax host Greta Van Susteren.

“Brazil, a country of 215 million, finished their vote count in one day. So did Florida, the third largest US state,” wrote former U.S. diplomat Alberto Miguel Fernandez in a tweet. “Counties in Arizona and Nevada seem to be looking forward to a long and leisurely holiday weekend before finishing their job. Incredible.”

Republican Senate candidate Adam Laxalt maintains a narrow lead as the unknown and potentially expanding number of Democrat favored mail-in ballots remain outstanding. Laxalt has expressed confidence, however, stating that he does not believe Cortez Masto will be able to make up the deficit.

“Clark County Clerk just reported there are just over 50K ballots left. This number includes Election Day drop off,” Laxalt wrote in a tweet Thursday evening. “We know there are rural and Washoe votes to be counted. Assuming these two at least offset, then Cortez Masto needs 63.5% to catch us. We remain very confident.”

Kevin Conroy, known as the voice of animated Batman for decades, has died … TMZ has learned.

Kevin passed away Thursday, according to his rep Gary Miereanu … following a short battle with cancer.

The actor moved out to California in 1980, first getting cast in the soap opera "Another World" … before working in theater and television for a number of years.

Many remember Kevin as the titular voice of Batman for decades, first playing the dark knight in "Batman: The Animated Series" from 1992 to 1995.

Since first breaking out as the comic book hero, Kevin's played the character on TV, in movies and even in video games countless times – including "Batman Beyond," 2001's 'Justice League' series, "Batman: The Killing Joke" and every Batman 'Arkham' series video game.

He took home 7 awards over the years for his voice acting … including Best Actor for his video game work in 2015.

Kevin wrote a story called "Finding Batman" as part of DC Comics' Pride anthology in 2022 … going over his experiences in his life as a gay man.

Fellow voice actor Diane Pershing, known for playing villain Poison Ivy alongside Kevin, shared her pain following Kevin's passing … writing, "He will be sorely missed not just by the cast of the series but by his legion of fans all over the world."

Kevin is survived by his husband Vaughn C. Williams, sister Trisha Conroy, and brother Tom Conroy.

CIA Director’s Former Think Tank Hired Experts From Nonprofits Controlled By Chinese Spy Agencies

Carnegie Endowment for International Peace has employed over a dozen experts who’ve worked for front groups controlled by Chinese spy agencies, the Daily Caller News Foundation determined after reviewing author Alex Joske’s new book “Spies and Lies.”

Carnegie employed the majority of the experts in question while current CIA Director William Burns served as the think tank’s president, the DCNF found.

“The director must explain why he allowed our top adversary to infiltrate his organization, the extent of his interactions with potential Chinese spies, and most importantly, why he lied to the American people during his confirmation hearing,” Texas Republican Rep. Lance Gooden told the DCNF.

An elite Washington, D.C., think tank has employed individuals who’ve worked for front groups controlled by Chinese spy agencies, a Daily Caller News Foundation investigation found.

The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace has employed over a dozen individuals who’ve worked in a range of capacities at China-based nonprofits set up or co-opted by Chinese intelligence agencies, including the Ministry of State Security (MSS) and the intel arm of the People’s Liberation Army.

These individuals have served as experts in various policy areas, including international relations, American politics and nuclear policy while working at both the think tank’s D.C. headquarters and at its Tsinghua University center in Beijing. Moreover, not only did Carnegie employ the majority of these experts while current CIA Director William Burns was president of the think tank, but, according to the nonprofit’s current records, Carnegie still employs individuals working for Chinese intelligence front groups.

Carnegie, the CIA and Director Burns did not respond to multiple requests for comment from the DCNF.

The DCNF was able to identify Carnegie staff who’ve worked for Chinese spy fronts by cross-referencing publicly available employment information with a new book on Chinese Communist Party (CCP) intel and influence operations written by Alex Joske, a former analyst at the Australian Strategic Policy Institute.

The book, called “Spies and Lies,” details Chinese intelligence agents’ efforts to infiltrate and influence Western institutions. Joske reveals a front set up by China’s version of the CIA began courting Carnegie in the early 2000s — a relationship the DCNF discovered has persisted to this day.

To be sure, Joske does not label any of the individuals who’ve worked for Chinese intelligence front groups prior to working for Carnegie as “spies.” Joske, however, does detail how Chinese Communist agents established various front groups with an eye toward attracting partnerships with Western think tanks.

Using tactics first deployed against George Soros’ China Fund in the late 1980s, Joske’s book details how China’s MSS set out to lure influential Western institutions with close government ties into partnerships with various Chinese nonprofits.

“[The MSS] went after people’s best intentions towards China,” Joske told the DCNF. “There were plenty of people who believed in this vision of a more democratic and more open China and thought it was something that could be realized, even under the Chinese Communist Party.”

Gold is money, full stop. It’s not a shiny pet rock, as the crypto crowd might want to believe. And it’s not some antique instrument that no longer serves a purpose in this new digital world. It has been used as money for thousands of years and while paper currencies have all come and gone (mostly to zero), gold has always retained its value.

For that reason, the central bank of almost every country in the world owns gold — some more than others — as part of their foreign exchange reserves.

Almost every country that is, except Canada.

Canada sold all of its gold holdings over the past 20 years, mostly at rock bottom prices in the early 2000s, much to the astonishment of the “hard-money” crowd and almost anyone who has read a book on economic history.

In a May 2022 interview with Kitco news, former Bank of Canada (BoC) Gov. David Dodge explained the reasoning behind the bank’s decision to off-load its gold holdings. “The issue is quite clear, that it costs to hold gold, whereas holding U.S. or Chinese or Euro bonds yields you a return,” said Dodge. “That was a strong view. And a view that our international monetary system was in a place that was sufficiently robust that holding this antique instrument of stability called gold really didn’t make any sense.”

To suggest he was flat out wrong would be kind. While storage costs are a factor in holding gold, it should be noted that since 2000, gold has gone up sixfold and outperformed numerous assets, including the S&P 500. And worse still, the bond returns Dodge was referring to have hovered close to zero since Canada dumped its gold.

For some explanation as to why the BoC continues with its no-gold policy, I turned to Martin Murenbeeld for some answers. He specializes in gold and foreign exchange markets, as well as domestic-international financial and economic trends and publishes the weekly Gold Monitor. From his perspective, Canada does not need to own gold because as he sees it, the Canadian dollar is a satellite currency to the U.S., making Canada part of a U.S. currency block. If the BoC ever needed liquidity, it can tap into the swap lines it has with the U.S. Federal Reserve System.

Swap lines are agreements between central banks to exchange their countries’ currencies with one another, used to stabilize markets when markets become stressed. Given the U.S. has the world’s largest gold reserves, he reasons that we can basically ride on America’s coattails. Murenbeeld likens the “U.S. currency block” to Europe and its EU currency block. Fair point, but unlike Canada, even the smallest partners in the EU block own gold. Germany, the dominant economic partner in the EU has 3300 tonnes, and tiny Portugal owns 382 tonnes.

Riding America’s coattails is all fine and well, but what happens if the U.S. experiences a U.S. currency crisis as a result of either its reckless debt growth or its massive money printing? Or worse still, an internal civil war? Should Canada go down with the ship? Murenbeeld believes that scenario is certainly possible and if that were to happen, the U.S. would be forced to provide some gold-backing once again to its currency, as it did prior to 1971. That’s why the U.S. will never sell its current gold reserves. That said, Canada and the Canadian economy would be banking on an America with a rational and functioning political system, which by today’s standards, is not a very comforting thought.

Also of concern is the prospect of a global monetary system reset, which I wrote about recently. Russia, China, and the other BRICS countries (Brazil, India and South Africa), in general are jockeying to create an alternative trading currency to the U.S. dollar. They are soliciting and receiving interest from non-aligned countries in the Gulf and Global South. And what have all these countries been doing the past couple of decades, especially in the past 10 years? Accumulating gold and reducing their U.S. dollar holdings.

Since 1995, 46,000 tonnes of gold have gone from the west to the east. And the buying continues. Since 2010, central banks around the world have been stocking up on gold, recently at an accelerated pace. In Q3 of this year, a stunning 400 tonnes of gold were purchased by central banks — a lot of it anonymously. The likely buyers are the usual suspects; China, Russia, India and Saudi Arabia. Why would they be doing this without some future purpose? A likely reason is that a gold backing would give any new trading currency the credibility it would need to compete with the reigning U.S. dollar. (Keep in mind that even the dollar and every other currency invention in history needed gold backing in its infancy.)

I asked Randy Smallwood, chairman of the World Gold Council (WGC) why central banks around the world own gold and continue to add to their reserves. The response is unsurprising to anyone who has studied economic history.

Gold provides a number of benefits. As a diversifier to other FX reserves, gold provides liquidity, safety, and return (when measured over long periods). Gold also has a low correlation to other traditional reserve holdings making it a great hedge asset. Its apolitical, since it is no one’s liability and therefore not associated with the politics of any specific country. It can be stored at home, providing a higher degree of safety from potential interference from a foreign power. And lastly, gold can be used as valuable collateral: In several recent episodes, gold has been pledged as collateral to obtain hard currency liquidity during periods of acute market stress.

Using the methodology by which the WGC analyses portfolio reserves of global central banks, I would propose that anything from five per cent to 40 per cent gold allocation would offer an optimal risk-to-reward ratio, although I don’t believe the upper range would be realistic for Canada. At five per cent, it would represent about 100 tonnes of gold and at 40 per cent it would be about 800 tonnes of gold.

Smallwood summed it saying, “It’s time for Canada to grow up and act like an adult, building independent, real central-bank reserves that stand the quality test independently of the United States and its dollar. And what better time than today, when the U.S. dollar is so strongly valued relatively to all other asset classes.”

A worthwhile recommendation for the Bank of Canada to consider, given the likely prospect of either a U.S. dollar crisis and/or a bifurcation of the global monetary system in the future.

Judge Orders Two Voting Machines to Be Cracked Open After Poll Worker Makes Big Mistake

A poll worker’s mistake has led to a court order to open two voting machines in New Jersey’s Monmouth County.

The issue took place in the town of Manalapan, according to the New Jersey Globe.

Deputy Attorney General George Cohen said Thursday that a poll worker “inadvertently failed to get vote results” before the machine was sealed.

Cohen said a poll worker removed two USB sticks from the machine before the results were completely uploaded. Because one has results on it and one does not, officials are unsure of the actual results.

Superior Court Judge David Bauman has given the Monmouth County Superintendent of Elections approval to open the machines.

“The entire process will be bi-partisan,” Cohen said to the judge.

It is unknown if the results found in the machine could change Tuesday’s elections.

Vote totals released Wednesday showed the two candidates elected to the Township Committee with handy margins over their rivals, according to CentralJersey.com.

Initial results showed the two seats going to Republicans Mary Ann Musich, who had 8,986 votes, and Eric Nelson, who had 8,740 votes. Democrat Jamie Herr received 5,082 votes, while fellow Democrat Lisa Lenn received 5,056 votes.

New Jersey’s Mercer County has also had machine issues, according to northjersey.com.

Scanning problems on Tuesday with machines made by Dominion Voting Systems resulted in a large number of paper ballots being required in the county.

Mercer County Clerk Paula Sollami-Covello asked the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office to “investigate as to whether this scanning problem occurred based on an error or whether something was intentionally done to create chaos and distrust in the election system.”

Sollami-Covello said officials are “not suspicious of any specific wrongdoing,” but they “do need to investigate the matter fully.”

On Thursday, Mercer County Superior Court Judge William Anklowitz approved an order to open the voting machines, according to northjersey.com.

The FBI reportedly raided the home of the owner of a popular website that tracks everything related to Area 51. This is according to a report from a lead investigative reporter of KLAS TV, an affiliate of CBS.

According to IMDb, Joerg Arnu grew up in Germany where he obtained a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering and started his career as a software developer. Today Joerg is a 25-year Area 51 research veteran, living in Rachel, NV, just outside the gates of Area 51. His Dreamland Resort website is all about the military R&D aspect of Area 51, Black Projects and Military Aviation.

September 22, 1931: President Hoover's Message on the Gold Standard GREAT BRITAIN'S DEPARTURE FROM THE GOLD STANDARD

I have been asked by two of your members to discuss something of the British demonetization or departure from the gold standard. I can only do that by way of background. I cannot make a public statement in the matter. I think you will understand that this situation has been pending for a good many months. There has been a large amount of British investment in the United States, and that amount, estimated by the Department of Commerce, aggregates something over $1,500 million. That is not flight of capital but steadily increasing expenditures here which naturally affects the exchanges. It has taken place not only in the past few months but for some years back. That, of course, has affected the problem of exchange. There has been some piling up of immediate cash in our banks from that quarter.

The course resolved upon by the British Government creates some temporary dislocations in the international world, but they are due more to the confusion arising out of readjustment of quotations and values than in their effect on the values of either securities or commodities.

The first effect of the decrease in the gold value of the pound is a rise in prices of commodities in Great Britain, at least in all international commodities where the price is made by international action, such as in wheat and other raw materials. There is involved a large amount of transaction based on the readjustment of those prices. A certain amount of confusion comes out of that, and the effect on our commodity markets has been a decrease in prices. There has been a rise in price in England in consequence and our prices are practically unchanged yesterday and today.

The fact that the pound is taken off its fixed value of $4.86 is not the abandonment of the gold standard even for the pound; as international commerce revolves in these days all transactions will be measured in some gold value, whether in dollars, francs, gulden, or any other of the fixed gold currencies. No transaction can take place unless it has some basis of measurement of that character. It really means that the fixed gold standard has been abandoned and a variable standard adopted which may change momentarily. But in any event all values in international commerce are bound to revolve on gold values or some measuring stick in gold. It is more or less a case of abandoning a fixed standard and adopting a variable one so far as international commerce is concerned.

The effect in England will undoubtedly be to increase exports, which amounts to price reduction compared with the standard of measurement in gold, and it should act as a stimulant and thus should increase employment and increase the demand again for raw materials. Obviously, it amounts to a reduction in standards of living temporarily in those commodities which are imported, of course raw materials, but wages and rank will lag behind. Production costs will be lower, and consequently, exports will be stimulated.

California School District PAYS Trans Org To Indoctrinate

The Transfamily Support Services willingly accepted the money and the invite to come on campus in the Poway Unified School District PUSD in Poway, California. The District intends to pay $3,000 a year for people to go and teach what it means to be transgender.

Wenyuan Wu is the executive director of Californians for the Equal Rights Foundation. He mentioned that the deal between the School District and the TransFamily Support Services TFSS is more familiar than the media makes it out to be. The Daily Caller quoted him

as saying, “TFSS has had a long working relationship with PUSD, which has not [been] brought to public scrutiny for lack of accountability and transparency on the part of the School District.”

The school District hid the relationship from parents for as long as possible. And when the state fell deeper into liberal hands, the leadership in the District decided the time to come clean about the deal was at hand.

The Daily Caller also reported on the secret deal that “TFSS and PUSD have benefitted from a strong informal partnership in the past and have collaborated on many efforts to ensure an inclusive setting for all students. TFSS has made mini-presentations to principals, counselors, student services specialists, and a few school sites, as well as assist in the formation and support of Gay-Straight Alliance clubs on campus and as a resource for parents and students.”
