Election Overseer Found DNC, Chalupa Broke Rules Over Ukraine, Then Reversed Its Finding After Jan. 6

Former DNC contractor and opposition researcher Alexandra “Ali” Chalupa not only worked closely with the Ukrainian Embassy and Clinton campaign, trading dirt on Manafort and Trump, but also Congress and the Obama White House, State Department and even the FBI. “At the center of the [Ukraine foreign influence] plan was Alexandra Chalupa,” GOP Sen. Chuck Grassley of the Senate Judiciary Committee has asserted.

“Chalupa’s actions appear to show she was simultaneously working on behalf of a foreign government, Ukraine, and on behalf of the DNC and Clinton campaign, in an effort to influence not only the U.S. voting population but U.S. government officials,” Grassley said in a July 2017 letter to then-deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.

“Chalupa’s actions implicate the Foreign Agents Registration Act,” he said. “It is imperative that the Justice Department explain why she has not been required to register under FARA.”

Chalupa maintained Justice looked into the complaint and cleared her within four months, finding no FARA violations. (Rosenstein at the time had just appointed Special Counsel Robert Mueller to take over the Russiagate probe after reportedly considering invoking the 25th Amendment to remove Trump from office.)

Chalupa is an important figure in the anti-Trump conspiracy plot Special Counsel John Durham is investigating, according to sources familiar with his probe. Though she is a material witness in his inquiry, it is not immediately known if she has been interviewed by his investigators. Questions sent to her attorney went unanswered.

Questions are also being raised about how the Federal Election Commission handled her case in an investigation the agency quietly conducted from 2017, when it first received a complaint about her, until it closed it in 2021.

In a little-noticed 2019 letter to Chalupa, the FEC stated that its attorneys “found reason to believe that you violated [the Federal Election Campaign Act] by soliciting, accepting or receiving contributions from foreign nationals,” noting that “the Ukrainian Embassy made in-kind contributions to the DNC by performing opposition research on the Trump campaign at no charge to the DNC.”

In a separate letter to the DNC, the commission found that the Democratic organization “does not directly deny that Chalupa obtained assistance from the Ukrainians nor that she passed on the Ukrainian Embassy’s research to DNC officials.” Further, it stated that DNC officials “may have authorized Chalupa to act as an intermediary [with the Embassy] to solicit and receive negative information about the Trump campaign.”

The privacy breaches impacted around 30 million Facebook users

The Irish Data Protection Commission (DPC) has imposed a fine of $18.7 million (€17 million) on Facebook’s parent company Meta after an investigation into 12 separate data breach notifications revealed the company had prolifically violated EU privacy rules.

Meta failed to impose “appropriate technical and organizational measures which would enable it to readily demonstrate the security measures that it implemented in practice to protect EU users’ data,” the regulator said on Tuesday.

The breaches in question, which were reported to the DPC during the period between June and December 2018, allegedly affected 30 million Facebook users. Under the EU’s GDPR privacy law, platforms are required to quickly disclose personal data breaches if they are likely to put individual users at risk - with a reporting deadline of 72 hours for the most serious breaches.

A Meta spokesperson dismissed the fine as the product of long-defunct record keeping practices that “we have since updated,” rather than “a failure to protect people’s information.” The company insisted it took the GDPR very seriously.

While the judgment is the first announced against Meta by the DPC in the four years the regulation has been in effect, the body also leveled a $267 million (€225 million) fine against WhatsApp last year, arguing the messaging app failed to live up to the GDPR privacy law’s standards regarding the need to be open and honest with users about what the company plans to do with their data.

The commission is the chief regulator of Meta and its subsidiaries in Europe, as the company has its continental headquarters in Ireland. While the country long attracted Big Tech companies like Google and Apple in addition to Meta for its low tax rates, an international agreement signed last year will impose a minimum 15% tax rate on profits for multinational corporations with annual revenues over $823 million (€750 million), rendering the setup considerably less hospitable for Meta and its multi-billion-dollar peers.

Meta (when it was still Facebook) agreed to a $5 billion settlement with the US Federal Trade Commission in 2019, one of many fines and settlements the company has been racking up in recent years as countries become bolder about pursuing the many privacy violations committed (and admitted to) by the social media behemoth.

Just as there are term limits for presidents, there should also be term limits for the country’s top bureaucrats, as evidenced by a leaked audio recording of former National Institutes of Health Director Dr. Frances Collins, who is now Joe Biden’s chief ‘science adviser.’

According to The Daily Wire, which exclusively obtained the audio, Collins’ previous claims that he and his one-time dupe, Dr. Anthony Fauci — who has run the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases since early in Ronald Reagan’s first term — are political neutrals was revealed as absurd.

In addition to his belief that the government has the authority to mandate vaccines, which was based on a 1905 Supreme Court case, he also made it clear that people should be tossed out on the street and lose their sources of income if they refuse to get one.

And, of course, since he’s a left-wing bureaucrat, he had a disdain for President Donald Trump.

“The audio originated from an Institute of Politics event on October 26 of last year, which was hosted by Christianity Today theologian Russell Moore at the University of Chicago. After Collins was introduced as a personal friend by Moore as well as a member of his book club, the conversation pivoted to a discussion of vaccine mandates, in which the former NIH director said that there was “no question” in his “mind that the mandates” Biden issued about a month earlier “are legal,” adding that people who refuse to take them should be threatened with unemployment.

“The US government does have the authority to mandate vaccinations if there is an outbreak that is threatening people, because it’s not just about you, it’s about the people you’re going to infect,” Collins claimed, despite the fact that an overwhelming amount of evidence at the time showed that even vaccinated persons could be infected with COVID and spread it to others.

“Do [mandates] convince people who otherwise wouldn’t get them?” Collins reportedly asked himself rhetorically before answering, “Oh yeah, especially if it means losing your job.”

The Daily Wire noted further:

As evidence, he described how successful the threat of unemployment was at persuading vaccine-hesitant NIH employees and contractors to get vaccinated. When Collins made it clear to the 2,000 out of 46,000 workers who had still declined to take the jabs that they were “in serious danger of being fired in the next month if they [didn’t] do something about it,” Collins said he got a “big response.”

“Reality [was] sinking in,” Collins explained, so that even the “pretty darn resistant” chose to get the vaccine.

Directors of oil and gas giant Shell are being sued for their “failure to properly prepare” the company for net zero.

ClientEarth, an environmental law organisation, accused the company’s directors of failing to adopt and implement a climate strategy that “truly aligns” with the Paris Agreement and consequently of breaching their duties under the UK Companies Act.

It is believed to be the first ever lawsuit seeking to hold company directors personally liable for failing to properly prepare for the energy transition.
