Ortagus -- who was Mike Pompeo’s State Department spokesman during the Trump administration – received a preemptive “complete and total endorsement” from the former president, in a move that has left the America First base baffled and angered. Filmmaker and grassroots activist Robby Starbuck has been considered the frontrunner and favorite of Trump’s base thus far in Tennessee’s 5th Congressional district.

Following a report revealing Ortagus’s pledge to “faithfully serve the Biden administration,” her past policy positions, including repeated criticism of the America First agenda prior to joining his administration, continue to call into question why Trump would lend support to the potential candidate.

Ortagus’s work in the private sector -- including co-founding a consultancy firm alongside a Trump-bashing Democrat with deep ties to President Joe Biden – also appears at odds with the MAGA base.

The firm in question, Global Opportunity Advisors, was founded just before Ortagus was welcomed into the Trump administration. She partnered alongside Vinograd, a current Biden and former Obama official. During the Obama years, Vinograd was tapped for a high-level role at the National Security Council, advising then-National Security Advisor Tom Donilon. Donilon’s brother Mike currently serves as a Senior Advisor to President Biden.

In addition to working as a CNN contributor, often appearing on the network to bash Trump, Vinograd also earned a spot as a Senior Advisor to the Biden Institute.

Canada Police: ‘All Options on the Table’ to End Peaceful Trucker Protests

Ottawa Police Chief Peter Sloly told reporters on Monday that “all options are on the table,” including “enforcement,” to end an ongoing protest led by truckers in the Canadian capital against the country’s onerous anti-coronavirus mandates that Sloly himself admitted had led to no injuries or violence.

“It could have led to significant and severe injuries, and it could have led to the loss of life. None of that has occurred over the last four days,” Sloly said, according to Canada’s CTV, while asserting that police would act by any means necessary to end the event.

Sloly’s remarks follow a bizarre speech by far-left Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau -- from an undisclosed location in which he is allegedly recovering from a Chinese coronavirus infection – in which he condemned the protesters as wearing “tinfoil hats,” compared them unfavorably to violent “Black Lives Matter” protests, and equated receiving coronavirus vaccine products to “what being Canadian is.”

Trudeau has adamantly refused to address the protesters’ concerns and dismissed them as a “small fringe minority” that is representative of neither truckers nor Canadians generally.

The “Freedom Convoy” of thousands in Ottawa is demanding an end to all business, travel, education, and movement restrictions in the country. A GoFundMe page for the campaign, which has attracted upwards of 9 million Canadian dollars in donations, demands Trudeau’s government “cease all mandates against its people.”

“Small businesses are being destroyed, homes are being destroyed, and people are being mistreated and denied fundamental necessities to survive. It’s our duty as Canadians to put an end to this mandates,” the page reads. “It is imperative that this happens because if we don’t, our country will no longer be the country we have come to love. We are doing this for our future Generations and to regain our lives back.”

Sloly, the Ottawa police chief, told reporters that “all options are on the table, from negotiation through to enforcement,” to end the event. He did not specify if lifting the mandates was among those options.

Similarly, in the same briefing, Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson asserted that he and his local government were “doing everything possible to bring this to an end peacefully.” Unlike Sloly, he explicitly rejected using force to dislodge the peaceful assembly.

“I get a lot of emails and tweets, why don’t you just send in the tow trucks, send in the parking control people? We’re not interested in inflaming the situation,” Watson asserted. “The last thing we need is to have some behavior that creates a mini-riot. We don’t want that to happen. We don’t want to see bloodshed.”

Watson urged the protesters to “give back our city to its residents.”

“It should have ended a long time ago. They’ve made their point. They had their rally,” Watson reportedly complained. “They embarrassed themselves with some of the actions of some of the people in the crowd, but it’s now time for them to go home and allow our community to regroup and rebuild, particularly given the fact that we’re still in the midst of a pandemic.”

Images from the protests largely align with Sloly’s assessment that the ongoing event has been peaceful. Reporters have caught protesters cleaning up public spaces they have used. Much of the activity in the heart of the city appears to be dancing and playing music, creating a celebratory atmosphere at odds with the mood created in the past two years in the country by the Trudeau administration’s pandemic policies.

Rep. Cawthorn Files Lawsuit Against North Carolina Board of Elections Over Unconstitutional Attempt to Disqualify Him from Reelection

Rep. Madison Cawthorn has filed a federal lawsuit against members of the North Carolina State Board of Elections (NCSBE) over their unconstitutional attempt to disqualify him for reelection.

A group of challengers recently filed a complaint with the NCSBE alleging that Rep. Cawthorn “does not meet the federal constitutional requirements for a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives and is therefore ineligible to be a candidate for such office.”

The group claimed that the congressman engaged in “insurrection or rebellion” against the United States on January 6th and therefore was disqualified to be a Member of Congress under the US Constitution.

According to a statement provided to The Gateway Pundit, Rep. Cawthorn vigorously denies that he “engaged in insurrection or rebellion” against the United States, and his suit seeks to enjoin the NCSBE from “employing unconstitutional provisions of North Carolina election law to remove him from the ballot as a Candidate.’

“Under North Carolina law, a Challenger can challenge someone’s qualifications to run for office based only on reasonable suspicion or belief that the facts stated disqualify the Candidate from running for office and then the Candidate bears the burden of proof to show that he is qualified to run for office. This burden-shifting turns our legal system on its head, requiring someone prove his ‘innocence’ when challenged,” his office said in the statement.

Therefore, Rep. Cawthorn is arguing that the Challenge Statute violates his First Amendment rights by triggering a government investigation based solely upon a Challenger’s “reasonable suspicion;” violates his Due Process rights under the Fourteenth Amendment by shifting the burden of proof onto him to prove he didn’t engage in an “insurrection or rebellion;” is unconstitutional because it overrides the U.S. House of Representative’s exclusive power to determine the qualifications for its Members; and violates federal law because the “disqualification clause,” Section Three of the Fourteenth Amendment no longer applies to current Congressional Members, because of the Amnesty Act of 1872.

“Running for office is not only a great privilege, it is a right protected under the Constitution,” said Rep. Cawthorn in a statement provided to TGP. “I love this country and have never engaged in, or would ever engage in, an insurrection against the United States. Regardless of this fact, the Disqualification clause and North Carolina’s Challenge Statute is being used as a weapon by liberal Democrats to attempt to defeat our democracy by having state bureaucrats, rather than the People, choose who will represent North Carolina in Congress. I’m defending not only my rights, but the right of the People to democratically elect their representatives.”

Legendary Australian music producer Glenn Wheatley has died of complications from Covid-19 at the age of 74.
