Fellow Patriots,
Just a lowly, humble, servant employed as a prosecutor here with a question for the forum. No BS here, will prove it tomorrow if I go through with it (media case)…
In my local district, a person was ticketed and charged with a misdemeanor under our local/state health code (1 year prison, 10K max fine) for opening a business prior to having permission granted to do so from our tyrannical governor. I have the distinct pleasure of being assigned the prosecution of that person/business. Case is scheduled for tomorrow.
I had every intention of dismissing the case outright in the interest of justice, but lo, my media-sensitive and politically hungry superiors caught wind of it hours ago (seriously, hours ago, or this wouldn't be an issue) and have specifically ordered me NOT to dismiss the case. If I choose to dismiss it tomorrow, I will most certainly be fired for disobeying the "chain of command," which, I acknowledge, I would be.
Should I:
A) Dismiss the case, get shit canned, and depend on my (pregnant) wife's salary until I can become gainfully employed, but sleep well knowing I did the right thing?
B) Obey my masters and adjourn the case until the media frenzy dies down. Continue career, can be in a position to make a difference for others down the road when the need arises…
What should I do? Is this how they win? By me failing to risk what I have to prevent an injustice? Am I stupid for washing my career down the drains over this?
