President Trump is welcoming the upcoming publication of two separate reports, which looked into the origins of the failed “Russia hoax.” On Wednesday, the president told reporters he is expecting reports from DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz and attorney John Durham.

He said the reports will show whether Democrat Party officials launched the “Russia hoax” to redo the outcome of 2016 election.

Yes, totally--and in fact it's impossible not to have well-developed sense of identity and still be a balanced person.

The question on a board like this is how identifiable that identity will be to others. And for what reasons.

There are 2 valid reasons i can think of for promoting anonymity on a board like this: safety and to promote arguments that can stand on their own.

There is a third reason that creeps in a lot: to avoid name/fame fagging, something that some anons hate bc they associate it with ego, self-promotion and the like. For some anons, there is a sort of romantic "anon ideal" which elevates anonymity to the status of a moral virtue. But i always wonder whether those who fully embrace that ideal aren't the ones least comfortable with who they are (and in some cases, envious of those who are well-known and successful). Promoting anonymity on that basis is just a reverse form of egotism.

One wise anon once said that those those take on ongoing responsibilities here tend to have identifiable names, designations, icons, etc. Bakers are the most common example. Many used to have identifiable pastebins, so anons would know who was baking. This worked well until QR mgmt started attacking bakers wholesale so now most go underground when they bake. That's a shame--because anons lose useful info and so do bakers trying to coordinate board coverage for the day. But when it's battle conditions, there is no other choice.

Yesterday, an order to sell 8 bitcoin (BTC), worth $60,000, tanked the price of Bitcoin on a single trading pair on crypto exchange Binance. It was either a fat-fingered mistake or there were more nefarious plans underway.

The trade was made on the trading pair between bitcoin and a stablecoin—a cryptocurrency that keeps its price pegged to a fiat currency, like the US dollar—called StableUSD (USDS).

With a 24-hour trade volume of just over $130,000, the large sell order represented more than half of this trading pair's daily trade volume, allowing it to sell through the order book and crash Bitcoin to a low of $681.81—on this trading pair—before recovering. Despite the flash crash, bitcoin is currently trading at a price of $7,393, up 1.6% for the day.

StableUSD was launched a year ago by Stably. However, its maket cap has been cut in half since its first few months, showing that fewer people are making use of the stablecoin. It is now ranked 542 on CoinMarketCap. In contrast, stablecoins like Tether have seen their market caps rise drastically, over this time.

This isn't the first time a sudden move like this has happened on this trading pair before. In April, when the price of bitcoin was $5,000, it jumped up to $11,000 on this trading pair, also on Binance.

There are three main reasons why somebody would sell a huge amount of bitcoin at a below-market rate. The first of these is that somebody simply made a mistake and placed a limit sell order for far below market rate. If this is the case, then at least one buyer got incredibly lucky and managed to purchase a massive amount of bitcoin for under $700.

The next two options involve manipulating the market in order to profit.

One explanation is that traders might be doing this to manipulate the market, for example, by simultaneously crashing the market and shorting it—betting against its future price. Margin or leverage trading could be used to increase the effect of doing so. However, this is unlikely in this case because there are no futures trading offerings for this trading pair, making it hard to profit from the endeavor.

Alternatively, coins are sometimes sold below market value in order to transfer money from one account to another. If a hacker takes control of someone else's account—for example via phishing techniques—they might be unable to withdraw directly from the compromised account and will often use this kind of tactic. However, this also seems fairly unlikely in this case, since the amount was so high.

Was familiar with most of the old bakers on QR, many of whom have returned. At least, it seems so. Was a pretty good crew when i started in the winter but numbers started falling off in the spring after @fj begun systematically attacking bakers. We lost about half of the good ones in a couple of months. Newer, younger bakers (i think they are younger, anyways) took their place. Less mature, service oriented, etc. But we needed them, nobody else wanted to bake.

Did not think they were from 3 letter agencies but did see problems with maturity, responsibility, etc. They like to hang out together and hand off to their frens--will also stay on til they want to leave. Not unselfish about deferring to others. I've wondered sometimes if they're teens--that would account for a lot.

What i mean is that QR is a tough place to baker right now--you do need to be kind of brave to do it. Anybody will to try gets some brownie points for that, despite other problems.

I totally agree about some of the crap going on--for the first time I got totally pissed about it a couple of days ago. Same reasons as you are citing. So far, inclined to chalk up a lot of these fuckups to human stupidity and thoughtlessness rather than Shareblue (etc).

Practically speaking, 8kun is still full of technical glitches and under attack from outside media giants. No regular baking crew yet, so still hard to evaluate who is baking, when, etc. Will take time to get that reestablished, 3-4 mon hiatus was a real blow.

Last, chances are 95% that BO/BVs are still comp'd, unfortunately. Prayer and strengthening QRB seem like the best courses right now.

Suggest that bakers bake when they can on QR, to build it up and demonstrate "good baking etiquette" based on good /comms/, mutual respect, and a service ethic grounded in the values Q discusses.

Suggest anons lean on bakers if they don't like what they see. Don't call them comp'd just say what you want and why. If they don't give it, be persistent. Consider learnlng to bake or at least to take notes (good for ghost bakes or when Q is posting). Learn how to watch the bread so you know what belongs there and what doesn't.

Guy ran it like it was a bingo game. I won't profess to be a baker but I am constrained due to other commitments of time, although I know I could do it. I do greatly appreciate bakers but I'm especially endeared to the earlier crop, which would be much more judicious about including items of interest to the plan, and excluding items that are outright divisive.

The new bakers, though...my suspicions are raised and, after the problems with FJ, are keyed to the belief that this is not just random idiocy but calculated fuckery. Who's to stop it?

Although it's biased, this AP article from a few days ago has some background information helpful for understanding what's at stake in tomorrow's meeting (9 December) in Paris between leaders of Ukraine, Russia, France and Germany intended to resolve the conflict in eastern Ukraine.

What gives me cause for pessimism is that there is no representation at this meeting of the two Donbass republics that have declared themselves to be independent, so I doubt that this meeting will have any greater effect than the meetings in 2014 in Normandy and Minsk. That is, unless Lugansk and Donetsk are not really independent but instead are actually subordinate to Russia.

I read somewhere that Russia views Donbass as the anti-anti-Russia. It specifically wants a lack of resolution. It could have allowed Donbass to be retaken by Ukraine or it could have taken Donbass itself. But a stalemate serves Russia's interests best. Russia understands the Western strategy of creating an anti-state to oppose its enemy, for example Taiwan is a US-supported "anti-China" and the US intended to make Ukraine "anti-Russia". Russia counters by making Donbass "anti-Ukraine" which is really "anti-anti-Russia". Russia can then just patiently wait. Time is on Russia's side and not on the side of the US and especially Ukraine. Meanwhile Russia is reducing US's time by dumping the dollar, buying gold, and create alternatives to the US-controlled SWIFT payment system.

But I doubt Donbass see's itself as a pawn of Russia. For a window into Donbass, I have been following Russel "Texas" Bentley, an American who moved to Donbass to help fight for its independence and is now a citizen of DPR (Donetsk People's Republic). He sees himself as a patriot of his adopted Republic and feels that he speaks for it when he writes:
