Canada’s ‘freedom convoy’ exposes political missteps — and Donald Trump’s ominous legacy

January 31, 2022 1.09pm EST

The Canadian truckers’ “freedom convoy” to Ottawa has the markings of another protest at a nation’s capital.

On Jan. 6, 2021, people from across the United States staged a protest in Washington, D.C., that quickly turned into a violent siege of the Capitol building. They were angry over what they falsely viewed as an election “stolen” from outgoing president Donald Trump.

The Canadian protesters seem to have emulated some of the behaviour of their U.S. counterparts, desecrating public monuments and bullying homeless shelters into feeding them. The Rideau shopping centre was forced to close due to protesters refusing to wear face masks.

Some even flew the Confederate flag and the swastika, symbols of hate and white supremacy that were also seen at the U.S. raid of the Capitol. Journalists were shoved, spit on and accosted along the convoy’s path.

Trump has nothing directly to do with Canadian truck drivers and their supporters who oppose government vaccine mandates. However his angry rhetoric of being victimized by an untrustworthy elite is similar to the sentiments fuelling the grievances of Canada’s protesters.

Trump even endorsed the convoy participants as “doing more to defend American freedom than our own leaders.”

Responses from Canadian leaders

Canadian leaders, on the other hand, took diametrically different positions as the convoy made its weeklong journey from British Columbia to Ottawa.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau labelled the convoy a “small fringe minority of people … holding unacceptable views [that] do not represent the views of Canadians.” For the most part, he remained quiet as the convoy travelled across the country, and was moved to a safe, undisclosed location as the protesters arrived in Ottawa.

Erin O'Toole, leader the Conservative Party, saw the convoy as an opportunity to burnish his credentials as a leader who listens and cares. He apparently wants to tap into the anger that the protesters have over vaccine mandates.

O'Toole seemingly believes that resentment over pandemic lockdown measures — most of them implemented at the provincial level and now in place for almost two years — is wider and deeper than generally realized.

Tapping into a sentiment that extends beyond the few thousand protesters, or even beyond the unvaccinated, allows him to differentiate himself from the Liberals. Tellingly, he referred to truckers as “our neighbours, our family, and most importantly, they are our fellow Canadians.”

By meeting with some of the truckers, O'Toole is now associated with the convoy and its messages. Given the fact that the vast majority of Canadians are vaccinated and are largely in favour of vaccine mandates, this is a gamble for a politician seeking to become the next prime minister.

There will undoubtedly be attack ads from opposition parties in the next election — assuming O'Toole remains leader of the Conservatives — that feature footage of him defending and supporting the convoy protesters spliced with images of the defaced Terry Fox statue, the War Memorial and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Provincial premiers of all stripes, in the meantime, have been silent throughout the convoy, happy to leave the spotlight on federal politicians. The premiers likely have no interest in reminding citizens that most vaccine and mask mandates, school closures and lockdowns are the work of provincial governments, not Ottawa.

Moderna COVID-19 vaccine receives full FDA approval for adults

January 31, 2022

The Food and Drug Administration granted full approval to Moderna's two-dose COVID-19 vaccine, marketed under the name Spikevax, more than a year after authorizing it for public use.

“The FDA’s approval of Spikevax is a significant step in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, marking the second vaccine approved to prevent COVID-19," said acting FDA Commissioner Janet Woodcock. "The public can be assured that Spikevax meets the FDA’s high standards for safety, effectiveness and manufacturing quality required of any vaccine approved for use in the United States."

The two-dose regimen of the Moderna vaccine is what has gotten full approval, while third doses for immunocompromised people and booster doses for adults are still under Emergency Use Authorization, a pathway used during emergency situations when speed is of the essence. The FDA has already given full approval to Pfizer-BioNTech's mRNA vaccine, which was the first to receive regulatory authorization under Emergency Use standards in December 2020. Unlike the Pfizer shots, which were initially granted an Emergency Use Authorization for adults 16 and up, the Moderna vaccine has been fully approved for adults 18 and older.

Federal officials hope that approving the second COVID-19 vaccine will make a dent in the remaining portion of people who have yet to get the shots. A lack of full-throated endorsement from regulators has kept many from getting the vaccines, fearing that the FDA sped through safety and efficacy trials for the sake of getting a shot out to the public quickly during a national emergency.

“While hundreds of millions of doses of Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine have been administered to individuals under emergency use authorization, we understand that for some individuals, FDA approval of this vaccine may instill additional confidence in making the decision to get vaccinated," Woodcock said.

To date, nearly 64% of the U.S. population five and older, nearly 212 million people, has been fully vaccinated. Of that total, more than 74.5 million people have opted for the Moderna vaccine.

Biden To Designate Qatar A Major Non-NATO Ally Amid Efforts To Blunt Putin's 'Energy Weapon'

On Monday we learn that "North Atlantic Treaty Organization" will extend to include formally designated "major" allies all the way in the Persian Gulf…

"US President Joe Biden said on Monday he plans to designate Qatar as a major non-Nato ally, granting a special status to the Middle East partner," the UAE-based The National reports. The announcement was made while Biden hosted Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in the Oval Office. Biden stressed he's soon to notify Congress of the designation "to reflect the importance of our relationship." The State Department says the designation "provides foreign partners with certain benefits in the areas of defense trade and security cooperation."

Crucially this special relationship was solidified in recent years, it should be recalled, during the Syrian proxy war in which intelligence services from both countries teamed up in an attempt to overthrow the Assad government. Qatar even hosted US training camps in the desert for fanatical jihadists "secular freedom fighters".

And the tiny oil and gas rich monarchy had for years been widely accused of seeking to destabilize Syria while eyeing energy transit opportunities, as Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. wrote in a 2016 lengthy Politico piece:

While the compliant American press parrots the narrative that our military support for the Syrian insurgency is purely humanitarian, many Arabs see the present crisis as just another proxy war over pipelines and geopolitics. Before rushing deeper into the conflagration, it would be wise for us to consider the abundant facts supporting that perspective.

In their view, our war against Bashar Assad did not begin with the peaceful civil protests of the Arab Spring in 2011. Instead it began in 2000, when Qatar proposed to construct a $10 billion, 1,500 kilometer pipeline through Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Syria and Turkey.

Anon post from earlier, next door.

Anon's perspective

Anonscan decide for themselves.

Anons/Autists can definitely find their way to whatever board suits them.

/midnightriders, /deepdigs, /hivemind, /warroom, etc.

Many anons post on multiple boards anyway.

This anon found 8ch/qreseach/ long before it was public (early 2018) with no direct link.

8bit welcomed this anon the first time anon posted.

Was friendly with 0SS and other anons, never had petty games or big fights.

Knew FJ briefly before he became BO [whoever the 'anons' are spreading the pedo attack just stop].

Anons worked together toward a common goal, no one above the other (as Q+ said).

Have been digging and helping other anons since. Every aspect, every group that formed.

Back in those days making threats to Dox, or implying it was quashed immediately.

Regardless the reasons, excuses, hypothesis for what happened with board owner ship

things seem to be going well other than the ongoing bullshit back and forth from supposed anons.

The current behaviour (by some) is not in any way conducive to research, MAGA, or patriotism.

Anons have enough enemies to fight in the deep state, continuing this behaviour only makes [you]

look more like one of [them].

This board is Q research, it has always had slides and attacks.

This board was were Q posted, may or may not happen ever again, but it doesn't matter either way.

Q brought anons together to this back channel.

A vast group of deplorables with incredible and varied talents.

Q+ stated[533]:

NO ONE PERSON IS ABOVE ANOTHER.

WE, THE PEOPLE, ARE MAKING THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE.

WE, THE PEOPLE, ARE TAKING BACK OUR COUNTRY (& WORLD) FROM THE EVIL LOSERS WHO WOULD DO US HARM (ALL FOR A BUCK).

NO MORE.

STAND UP PATRIOTS.

STAND UP AND DEFEND WHAT YOU KNOW IS RIGHT.

GOD BLESS YOU AND GOD BLESS THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

There is plenty of truth to dig for, if anons are bored and need crumbs to dig into anon is sure there is plenty left

at one of the many Q crumb repositories to uncover.

You have more than you know.

tl;dr

STFU, focus, stop acting like children, and get back to work exposing the real enemies. No moar division.

The New York Fed Has Quietly Staffed Up a Second Trading Floor Near the S&P 500 Futures Market in Chicago

On January 11, Simon & Schuster released a new book on the Fed. It’s written by bestselling author and business reporter, Christopher Leonard. The title leaves little doubt about what the author has set out to prove: The Lords of Easy Money: How the Federal Reserve Broke the American Economy.

For those of us who have been scrutinizing the trading operations of the New York Fed for decades, with the appropriate amount of skepticism that is inexplicably missing among the mainstream press, Leonard delivers a bombshell on page 242. Leonard writes:

“The conference room in the New York Fed was located just off the main trading floor, and its doors were open during meetings so people could quietly go in and out. The room was anchored by a large table, with a couch along the wall for staffers to sit with their laptops open and take notes. There was a set of large digital monitors hanging on one wall, one of which provided a live video feed from an eerily identical room in Chicago, in a Fed satellite office near the important Chicago Mercantile Exchange.”

What Leonard is describing is the Markets Group at the New York Fed, the only one of 12 regional Federal Reserve Banks to have its own trading floor; its own traders with Bloomberg terminals; its own speed dials to the major investment banks on Wall Street; and its own analysts that ferret out market-moving information from around the globe on a continuous basis. (Leonard was given an official tour of this area at the New York Fed on February 27, 2020, according to the “Notes” section of his book.)

What Leonard is suggesting on page 242 is that the New York Fed’s trading floor is no longer just content to sit close to the New York Stock Exchange in lower Manhattan. The New York Fed’s Markets Group has decided to clone itself with another trading floor that sits close to the Chicago Mercantile Exchange where S&P 500 futures are traded, as well as other futures contracts.

Why is that a bombshell? Because it suggests to Wall Street savvy readers that the New York Fed may be planning to use the futures markets to try to engineer a soft landing in an attempt to get itself out of the very serious mess it’s made that Leonard explains very convincingly throughout his book.

We checked out the New York Fed’s website and found no mention of this satellite trading floor and satellite Markets Group in Chicago. The Chicago Fed is not so secretive, however, and confirms on its website that the New York Fed’s satellite office is located inside its building. The Chicago Fed actually lists profiles of six staffers at the New York Fed’s facility, but it uses only first names, as if these folks are in some kind of witness protection program.

There are currently nine help-wanted ads listed online for the New York Fed’s satellite office in Chicago. The most interesting is for a “Contact Engagement Policy Advisor.” That job includes this description: “Proactively identify, build, and maintain relationships with a diverse set of senior external market participants, including to develop contacts in new areas or markets where additional relationships are needed; support stakeholders and other senior management develop and maintain their contact networks.”

On pages 113-114 of his book, Leonard describes what the trading floor at the New York Fed looks like. (For photos of what the New York Fed’s trading floor has looked like through the years, see our article from 2013. For the names of the Wall Street megabanks that, literally, own the New York Fed and its money button that endlessly bails them out with trillions of dollars produced at the flick of an electronic switch, see our article from 2019.)

Leonard sums up his description of the traders and their trading floor at the New York Fed with this: “They are the only traders in the world who can buy things by creating new dollars. This is the basis of the Fed’s ability to influence the economy and the banking system.”

Well, now these New York Fed traders have clones of themselves — magically creating money at the push of a button in Chicago.

Creating this cloned facility in Chicago has apparently been going on for a number of years. One individual reports at Glassdoor that he interviewed for the job of Policy and Markets Analysis Associate at the New York Fed’s office in Chicago in December 2017. He said the process took five weeks and he didn’t get a job offer. He writes this: “Was flown in for interviews: 3 interviews (30 mins each) with two people at a time. First one was behavioral, second was econ heavy, third was more questions directly about the fed. In the afternoon, took a policy writing test (90 minutes).” One of the interview questions he was asked was: “What did the Fed do during the 2008 crisis.” If he correctly answered that it bailed out the Wall Street banks and their foreign derivative counterparties to the tune of $29 trillion – the very banks that created the crisis — that might be why he didn’t get the job. If he had adopted former Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke’s position – that he and the Fed had the “courage to act,” he would have likely landed the job.

If the New York Fed was not interested in accessing the futures market, why clone itself in Chicago? That’s very far away from the New York Fed and not particularly attractive to the best and the brightest. CBS News ranked Chicago the 31th most dangerous city out of 50 it ranked in 2020.

If it’s another Sandy hurricane flooding lower Manhattan or a terrorist or cyber attack that the New York Fed is worried about, why not create a backup facility in New Jersey, like the major investment banks on Wall Street have done? Why choose to clone yourself 796 miles away in another major city that could just as easily be the target of a terrorist or cyber attack?

The answer may lie in the following fact: just 35 miles away from the New York Fed’s office in Chicago, in Aurora, Illinois, is what is known as a co-location data center where customers can place their own high-speed computers and get faster access to trading data coming from the futures markets as well as faster ability to execute trades to take advantage of that information. For a mere $12,000 a month, the New York Fed could gain the same advantages that hedge funds have currently.

Now that the Federal Reserve has made it clear that it’s begun the process of removing its liquidity punchbowl, powerful hedge funds as well as Wall Street trading houses have launched their own process of shorting the market through S&P 500 futures. The intraday whipsawing, with 1,000-point intraday swings in the Dow Jones Industrial Average last week, strongly suggests that some well-heeled player is attempting to scare out the shorts and create a short squeeze (which sends the stock market back up) when the market is plunging.

There is actually a legal way that the New York Fed could be conducting such futures operations. It’s the U.S. Treasury’s Exchange Stabilization Fund (ESF). The New York Fed explains its relationship with the ESF as follows: “ESF operations are conducted through the Federal Reserve Bank of New York in its capacity as fiscal agent for the Treasury.” According to the most recent monthly financial statement from the ESF, dated November 30, 2021, it had $229.67 billion in assets. Its assets are those it holds on the last day of the month. What it’s doing in markets on all the other days of that month are not included.

Under current law (31 U.S.C. §5302) the decisions on how to spend the billions in this slush fund belong to the Treasury Secretary and “are final and may not be reviewed by another officer or employee of the Government.” The law also provides that the Treasury Secretary “with the approval of the President, may deal in gold, foreign exchange, and other instruments of credit and securities the Secretary considers necessary.” That language would appear to give the U.S. Treasury Secretary the power to intervene in propping up the stock market without the ability of “another officer or employee of Government,” say, like, the Securities and Exchange Commission or Commodity Futures Trading Commission, having the ability to review what’s going on in that regard.

According to past comments from members of Congress, what goes on in the ESF has been as clear as mud to Congress. The vast majority of Americans have never heard of the Treasury’s Exchange Stabilization Fund but it’s been around since 1934. It was created during the Great Depression to stabilize the dollar by engaging in foreign exchange interventions. That mandate morphed significantly from that point forward.

Code monkey has unloaded his stash of reported findings on Maricopa County Elections quite a bit of info

Today is the last day of January, 2022.

Election integrity is still under attack with no substantial actions from AG Brnovich who is best positioned with the most evidence to indict.

AG Brnovich has had months now to make indictments related to the reports given to him.

A few months ago, I came across what I believe is one of the draft reports that was sent to AG Brnovich, and some of the video sent to AG Brnovich.

The draft report alleges criminality, and the video shows details of what is alleged.

I plan to present the video and document today to the court of public opinion.

——

Due to the ineffectiveness of our current public officials, I am running for Congress in Arizona District #2.

The only way to solve the problem of ineffective public officials is to get into office and do the job ourselves.

Only with your support can we take this fight to DC together:

Hunter Biden’s former biz partners ‘cooperated completely’ with feds in tax probe: lawyer

January 31, 2022

One of Hunter Biden’s former business partners “cooperated completely” with the feds in their probe of the first son’s tax filings, The Post has learned.

Devon Archer, who is awaiting sentencing in an unrelated fraud case, is among four people reportedly referenced in a May 15, 2019, subpoena — first reported by The Post — sent to JPMorgan Chase Bank for records related to any transactions involving the Bank of China.

The others include James Biden, a younger brother of President Joe Biden.

A partial copy of the subpoena was posted online by the “Marco Polo USA” research group headed by Garrett Ziegler, who worked as a White House policy analyst under former President Donald Trump.

“Mr. Archer was not aware of this specific subpoena from 2019, which appears directed to a bank,” his lawyer, Matthew Schwartz, told The Post in an email.

“But Mr. Archer has cooperated completely with the Delaware U.S. Attorney’s Office investigation from the moment he became aware of it.”

Hunter Biden disclosed that federal prosecutors in Delaware were “investigating my tax affairs” in December 2020, about a month after his dad was elected but before he took office.

The subpoena was issued by a federal grand jury, according to a cover letter signed by Delaware Assistant US Attorney Lesley Wolf and addressed to JPMorgan’s National Subpoena Processing Center in Indianapolis.

It demanded “records, documents and accounts” pertaining to payments from or to the Bank of China and involving Hunter Biden, his uncle James Biden, Archer and Eric Schwerin, another former business partner of Hunter Biden’s.

The subpoena also sought banking records involving 15 companies, many of which have been tied to the men.

They included Bohai Harvest RST, a Chinese investment firm in which Hunter Biden held a 10 percent stake, and Burisma Holdings, a Ukrainian energy firm on whose board both Hunter Biden and Archer formerly sat.

Burisma paid Hunter Biden as much as $1 million a year while his dad was vice president, according to emails on his infamous, abandoned laptop.

Under terms of the subpoena, the banking records were due to the grand jury within a month.

In 2018, a Manhattan federal jury convicted Archer and two co-defendants in a securities fraud scheme involving the sale of $60 million worth of bonds by the Oglala Sioux Indian tribe.

The verdict against Archer was later overturned by the trial judge but reinstated by an appeals court in 2020

In

November, the US Supreme Court refused to consider the case and Archer is set for sentencing on Feb. 28.

A source close to Archer said that he hasn’t received a “target letter” in the tax probe of Hunter Biden and has been told that he isn’t under investigation in that matter.

A spokesperson for Delaware US Attorney David Weiss declined to comment, as did a spokesperson for JPMorgan Chase.

Hunter Biden’s lawyer, James Biden and the RSP Investments firm in Washington, DC, where Schwerin is registered as a broker and has been identified as its president, didn’t immediately return requests for comment.

THE CIA - WILDERNESS OF MIRRORS (MYTH20C - EP07)

America’s chief spy masters - the Central Intelligence Agency - came into creation during the second world war, and it received official congressional funding with the National Security Act of 1947. Ever since, the CIA has been involved in every major war the United States has engaged in - officially or not - and now finds itself on the precipice between supporting the ongoing ostensible “War on Terror”, pivoting its focus towards the rise of Red China, re-engaging its Cold War rival in Russia, or even challenging the American president himself. It would not be for the first time. As is the nature of espionage, however, what is not known is arguably much larger than what is known. Today we’ll attempt to outline what we do know, and pose questions about what we do not.

- Timeline -

-1942- official formation of the Office of Strategic Services

-1945- OSS disbanded

-1947- CIA formed

-1953- Allen Dulles made Director of Central Intelligence

-1961- Allen Dulles removed by Kennedy

-1975- Church Committee convened

-2005- Office of the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) formed

FBI chief: Economic threats from China are ‘more brazen’ than ever before

Wray accuses China of plotting to steal American ideas, launching massive hacking operations

Jan. 31, 2022

WASHINGTON — The threat to the West from the Chinese government is “more brazen” and damaging than ever before, FBI Director Christopher Wray said Monday night in accusing Beijing of stealing American ideas and innovation and launching massive hacking operations.

The speech at the Reagan Presidential Library amounted to a stinging rebuke of the Chinese government just days before Beijing is set to occupy the global stage by hosting the Winter Olympics. It made clear that even as American foreign policy remains consumed by Russia-Ukraine tensions, the U.S. continues to regard China as its biggest threat to long-term economic security.

“When we tally up what we see in our investigations, over 2,000 of which are focused on the Chinese government trying to steal our information or technology, there’s just no country that presents a broader threat to our ideas, innovation, and economic security than China,” Wray said, according to a copy of the speech provided by the FBI.

The bureau is opening new cases to counter Chinese intelligence operations every 12 hours or so, Wray said, with Chinese government hackers pilfering more personal and corporate data than all other countries combined

“The harm from the Chinese government’s economic espionage isn’t just that its companies pull ahead based on illegally gotten technology. While they pull ahead, they push our companies and workers behind,” Wray said. “That harm — company failures, job losses — has been building for a decade to the crush we feel today. It’s harm felt across the country, by workers in a whole range of industries.”

Chinese government officials have repeatedly rejected accusations from the U.S. government, with the spokesman for the embassy in Washington saying last July that Americans have “made groundless attacks” and malicious smears about Chinese cyberattacks. The statement described China as a “staunch defender of cybersecurity.”

The threat from China is hardly new, but it has also not abated over the last decade.

“I’ve spoken a lot about this threat since I became director” in 2017, Wray said. “But I want to focus on it here tonight because it’s reached a new level — more brazen, more damaging, than ever before, and it’s vital — vital — that all of us focus on that threat together.

The Justice Department in 2014 indicted five Chinese military officers on charges of hacking into major American corporations. One year later, the U.S. and China announced a deal at the White House to not steal each other’s intellectual property or trade secrets for commercial gain.

In the years since, though, the U.S. has continued to level accusations against China related to hacking and espionage. It’s charged Chinese hackers with targeting firms developing vaccines for the coronavirus and with launching a massive digital attack of Microsoft Exchange email server software, and also blacklisted a broad array of Chinese companies.

In his speech, Wray recounted the case of a Chinese intelligence officer who was convicted of economic espionage for targeting an advanced engine by GE that China was working to copy.

But there have also been some setbacks. Though the FBI director mentioned Monday night that the bureau was working to protect academic research and innovation at American colleges and universities, he did not discuss the much-criticized China Initiative.

That Justice Department effort was created in 2018 to counter economic espionage and to protect against research theft, but critics have accused investigators of scrutinizing researchers and professors on the basis of ethnicity and of chilling academic collaboration. Earlier this month, prosecutors dropped a fraud case against a Massachusetts Institute of Technology professor, saying they could no longer meet their burden of proof.

The department is in the process of reviewing the fate of the China Initiative, and expects to announce the results soon.

This could be another test flight or on a reposition flight.

From wut I can tell it is the oldest of the E-11As and those protrusions have been integrated into the airframe in the newer versions-see cap #2-current and 3 newer

Bombardier E-11A is the military variant of the civil Bombardier BD-700 Global Express for use as overhead communications-relay platform in southwest Asia. The BD-700 was selected due to its high service ceiling, up to 51,000 ft and up to 12 hours flight duration. Initially aircraft was designated as RC-700 under the reconnaissance classification but later was re-designated as the E-11A under the special electronics installations category. The E-11A is a U.S. Air Force aircraft that provides unparalleled communications capabilities to forces on the ground and aircraft in the air. Commonly known as Battlefield Airborne Communications Node, or BACN, this aircraft extends the range of communications channels and enables better communication among units. This element is essential where the terrain may disrupt communications channels and it enables ground forces to know what is around them when something is not in their line of sight.

White House cyber expert to travel to Europe over Russian threat

Anne Neuberger, the deputy national security adviser for cyber and emerging technology, is set to travel to Europe to meet with her European Union counterparts and NATO representatives in Brussels this week to talk about cyber challenges presented by Russia.

The White House said Neuberger will travel to Warsaw to meet with Polish and Baltic officials and members of the Bucharest Nine, including Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania and Slovakia.

Neuberger will first travel to Belgium to meet with NATO and the European Union cyber leaders, a senior administration official said. She will discuss cybersecurity with German and French officials virtually.

"[Neuberger will] discuss how we will coordinate and support Ukraine, and each other, in the event that cyberattacks occur," the senior official said.

Last month, Ukraine blamed Russia for a cyberattack targeting the computers of government agencies, accusing the Kremlin of waging "a hybrid war" amid heightened tensions between the two countries.

Kiev said all evidence points to Russia being behind the attack, stating its motivation is to reduce the public's trust in the Ukrainian government by exposing vulnerabilities in critical information infrastructure and through draining Ukrainian data.

US Delivers 500-Ton Weapon Shipment To Ukraine As Blinken & Lavrov Talk

Another day in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine standoff and another US weapons shipment has arrived in Kiev, despite all sides ostensibly continuing to push for a diplomatic solution and the avoidance of military conflict.

On Tuesday Ukraine Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov announced his country has received a new shipment of "500 tons of defense equipment" from the United States. "The day hasn’t passed yet and we’re unloading the 6th bird from our friends from the U.S.! 84 tons of ammunition arrived in Kyiv!" he wrote on Twitter.

We vastly prefer the path of dialogue and diplomacy, but we will continue to provide Ukraine the defensive assistance needed to defend against Russia's massive military force assembled on its borders. We #StandWithUkraine https://t.co/XRDq2gB7N0

— U.S. Embassy Kyiv (@USEmbassyKyiv) February 1, 2022

The US Embassy in Kyiv in a vaguely threatening carrot-and-stick style message responded with the following aimed at Moscow: "we vastly prefer the path of dialogue and diplomacy, but we will continue to provide Ukraine the defensive assistance needed to defend against Russia's massive military force assembled on its borders."

In a later statement, the embassy posted the following: "We know Russian efforts to destabilize Ukraine are part of their playbook. We've all seen it before, and we should expect to see more. We applaud the vigilance of Ukraine's law enforcement and security services at this critical time."

The accusatory statement linked to a report wherein a Ukrainian government official alleged a Russian plot to foment a riot in the center of Kiev using up to 5,000 agent provocateurs on the ground. Officials suggested the 'false flag' scenario would be geared destabilizing the government in favor of installing pro-Kremlin leadership.

Also on Tuesday US Secretary of State Antony Blinken is holding a key phone call with his Russian counterpart Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. "We expect the Secretary will have an opportunity to speak by phone with Foreign Minister Lavrov tomorrow morning," the State Department had said Monday.

So far it appears Russia has yet to respond to last week's hand delivered official Washington response to Moscow's security demands of NATO. According to Russian media, "Claims from US officials that Moscow has responded to America’s proposals on de-escalation in Ukraine are inaccurate, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced. It confirmed that the two sides are in talks about security in Europe but denied that a formal answer had been given."

"The Americans are using Ukraine against Russia so openly and cynically that the Kiev regime itself is now scared." pic.twitter.com/mBYj5eMvPU

— Clint Ehrlich (@ClintEhrlich) January 31, 2022

Meanwhile, the White House says it's put together a "specific sanctions packages" that would target Putin's inner circle as well as key oligarchs in the event Russia invaded Ukraine.

"The individuals we’ve identified are near the inner circle of the Kremlin and play a role in government decision-making or, at a minimum, are complicit in the Kremlin’s destabilizing behavior," White House press secretary Psaki said Monday, noting that "many of these invidious are particularly vulnerable targets because of their deep and financial ties with the West."

Mexicans Abroad Sent a Record $52 Billion Back Home Last Year

Mexico received a record $51.6 billion in remittances last year, helping to soften the impact on consumers from a stalled economy.

The money sent by Mexican workers abroad jumped 27% compared to 2020, according to central bank figures published Tuesday. That increase was driven by a variety of factors including U.S. stimulus checks to residents, a desire by Mexican workers to assist their struggling families back at home, and money for foreign migrants stuck in Mexico. “This historic quantity of remittances is not an achievement of the Mexican economy because it is due to the U.S. recovery. In Mexico, the recovery is going slowly,” said Gabriela Siller, director of economic analysis at Banco BASE. “But remittances do help growth because they drive consumption.”

all about the stimmy money lady and you know that

The recovery of Mexican workers’ employment in the U.S. was better than that of the overall U.S. population, with over 7 million Mexicans employed there by December, according to an analysis by the Mexico City-based Center for Latin American Monetary Studies. Other countries in Latin America, including Colombia and Guatemala, saw similar leaps in contributions from abroad, it said. “The better-than-expected growth rate for remittances has been seen in almost all parts of the world,” said Dilip Ratha, the head of The Global Knowledge Partnership on Migration and Development, a project of the World Bank, who expects remittances to continue to rise.

“In the next five or ten years, there is no scenario involving a fall in the stock of international migrants. That is going to grow because of income differences and demographic change.”

As the Moscow government has reiterated on many occasions, the West is pursueing an anti-Russian campaign and accuses it of making alleged preparations to attack Ukraine, while the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) is trying to increase its military activities in the area.

The day before, the Russian representation to the multilateral body once again reiterated these concerns before the UN Security Council at a meeting convened by the United States.

According to Russia’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Vasili Nebenzia, Washington is trying to mislead the world community about the real situation in Ukraine.

The Russian diplomat criticized the interference in the internal affairs of his country and rejected the statement of the US delegation, which considered the deployment of Russian troops on the border as a threat to international peace.

Nebenzia emphasized Washington’s desire to stoke hysteria over its accusations of an imminent alleged aggression by Moscow against Ukraine: “There is no threat, aggression or invasion planned. There has been no talk from any high-ranking Russian officials, quite the contrary, they have been categorically rejected,” he stressed.

For her part, the UN Under-Secretary General for Political Affairs and Peacebuilding, Rosemary DiCarlo, bet on the diplomatic way to deal with the growing tensions around Ukraine and reiterated the support of the multilateral organization to negotiations.

Recently, Washington and Moscow held talks after tensions over Ukraine escalated as the West accuses Russia of an alleged build-up of its troops on the border in arrangements for a possible invasion.

During those talks, Russia defended the right to move its forces within its own territory and warned of increased NATO military activities in the area.
